Why are some pc gamers hating on the ps4 sooo much?

Is it because they expected it to be less powerful? I see no other reason.

It's always been more powerful, just now that the PS4 is pumping out something more "graphically pleasing" we might actually see some high priced cards go down in price.

 the wiiu how ever is the only true gaming console from the only true gaming company -- dont even argue with me all you gotta do for the proof is look at what sony does they make tvs movies and everything else ,    

 nintendo is the only one still in the videogame market and its all they do ,  dont like the facts then you can

Because the moment it was announced these boards were full of "Yeah gddr5" comments yet nobody seemed to realise what it actually did and started acting as if it was going to make it into a super computer...You then have pc gamers that know hardware and know what it does stating facts about the hardware yet the fanboy that knows nothing is suposed to be correct??

Because some Playstation fanboys (other console factions as well) say a lot of stupid sh!t about PCs. I think the PS4 looks very promising, but it ain't gonna change the world.

The playstation fanboys have been the idiots regarding the GDDDR5 thing. No one is saying that's not a big improvement over the current consoles, or that it's not a good RAM solution, which should help keep the PS4 hardware relevant for a longer time (along with the x86 architecture). There's just been a sh!tload of fanboys acting like it's some kind of God-tech, which is going to make all PS4 games look like CGI movies, with levels of graphics that instantly trump high-end PCs, and render PCs irrelevant forever. Unfortunately for them and their precious delusions, the fact is that the best looking games in the first couple years of the PS4 lifespan will look comparable, at best, to high-end PC games running on high end PCs (and will probably have considerably lower framerates). And after that, the gap will expand again, as PC capabilities evolve far beyond the restrictions of consoles' fixed hardware. Just like last gen. And the gen before that. And the gen before that.

Most of the excitement was never "herp derp, PS4 destroy PC.  

It has mostly been about the improvements of the GDDR5 ram (ammount and bandwidth) compared to what was in the PS3, which was the biggest bottleneck of the platform.

Mark my words here, consoles are going to get DRM of some sort. There's already some. Digital version of Tomb Raider off the PS Store apparently has DRM.

Driver issues? Buy a Nvidia card and you're good to go. I've never had any issues with drivers.

In a way, I'd get pissed if I have to spend the full £40 for a console game when I can get a PC version for like 60% less. Even less in the Steam seasonal sale! Console gaming is expensive, and yet you get inferior experience. I'm having a hard time trying to understand why you consolites are playing those things.

No, Pc Gamers spend that money not just to get get Higher Res and Higher framerates but also for more game genres, more games in general a bigger selection of indie games, better multiplats,Mods, multiple screens if thats your thing, maybe an occulus rift?? if it gets you excited, why not it's a choice, hell i feel like playing my games with a wii mote ..oh i can do that ....now excuse me while i go play King Of Fighters 98 arcade on M.a.m.e..whats that? i need to write a Cv? i will do that now right after i have hosted my own server for that game i love etc etc etc, if you have not got the point by now...

Apart from the obvious trolls on this site, Not many Cows have been saying PS4 will have better graphics than PC, I've seen heaps of threads created by Hermits claiming PS4 is outdated.

OK, for a start the PS3 version of TR does not have online DRM. That was a mistake by the PSN team. The second thing, the only maker of card that I"ve ever had driver issues with is Nvidia. The days of AMD having no drivers is long gone.

There has been a lot of talk about the memory specs for the PS4. GDDR5. 16x better. OMG TEH RAMZ. But what does it all mean?AMD have talked about the new PS4 APU, but what is the significance of Sonys choice of a shared GDDR5 memory pool?

The minute details of the PS4 are still hard to come by (and still subject to change), and the measured performance of TEH RAMZ will come out eventually, but in theory GDDR5 is capable of 48 GBps of bandwidth per module on a 64-bit memory bus. What this means for the PS4 is highly dependent on the manufacturing process and chip design. Sony is claiming that the memory bandwidth of the PS4 will be 176 GBps, from what I have been able to dig up. This is an important number in the overall performance picture.

Lets look at the PS3, which we know a little bit more about.

The PS3 uses a split memory layout, with 256MB of XDR main memory and 256MB of GDDR3 video memory. Memory has to flow back and forth between the PS3s Cell processor and the RSX GPU. This data flow requires memory bandwidth and processing power that is removed from the overall performance budget. The Cell processor can read from main memory at about 16.8 GBps, and write to main memory at about 24.9 GBps. These are measured rates, vs. the 25.6 GBps of theoretical bandwidth for XDR memory. The RSX GPU can read and write from its own memory pool at 22.4 GBps. Things get interesting when the Cell and the RSX try to read from and write to each others memory. The RSX has an easier time with main memory with 15.5 GBps reading and 10.6 GBps writing. The cell can read from the RSXs memory at 16 MBps (?!) and write to it at 4 GBps. Lets break that down.

PS4 GDDR5 bandwidth: 176 GBps (in theory)

PS3 Cell XDR bandwidth: 16.8 GBps 24.9GBps (in practice)

PS3 RSX GDDR3 bandwidth: 10.6 GBps 15.5 GBps (in practice)

Now, were generalizing here, but this tells us that memory bandwidth between the PS3 and PS4 is going to see a jump of anywhere from 7.05x to 16.6x in memory bandwidth depending on the operation.

And of course, the PS4 has much more memory capacity. With 8GB of GDDR5 available to both the CPU and GPU, that means up to 32x more memory for the CPU or 32x more memory for the GPU. With an even 50/50 split between CPU and GPU, thats a 16x capacity increase. But just as important, there is no limitation on the split between the CPU and the GPU. This gives developers much more freedom in how they use the hardware. Similarly, with no performance disparity between different types of memory, and no need to shuffle memory back and forth between pools, memory can be allocated much more freely.

What does this mean for gamers? Better graphics. Smarter AI. More zombies. More explosions. More detail. More emotion. Less restrictions on developers means more awesome for us.
