Mr_BillGates
Could you explain what sort of a huge change do you expect in terms of overall design for the next gen games?
On the PS4 reveal, all of the showcased games looked standard fare, nothing out of the ordinary, aside from much better graphics than the PS3/360 could achieve. As a PC gamer, I saw nothing hinting at any form of "revolution" in gaming. Just consoles catching up to the standards I had availible for years.
You were wrong, you got called out on it. Be an adult and quit pouting.lowe0
Yeah I was wrong and yeah you called me out on it. That was like 6 posts ago, why is this still going on ?
Like I said, that image had little importance if it were true or not. If you are going to bring up stuff like 'dishonesty by ommision' while I have said that I didn't have the intention to be dishonest, I just didn't know it used Icenhancer than you can not expect me to take this little sidetracked discussion seriously anymore.
Pounting ? Lol, you are a joke. Calling me out for a mistake is fine, dragging this out for so long is not.

Piracy being just as bad on console is a completely false statement. Â First of all, its easier to do on PC because all you need is the bit torrent software and a PC. Â On console, you would need to physically modify your system in some way for it to work right and then still there are risks involved with screwing up your system.

And? Its still bad. And consoles have piracy and the used game market and rentals. With piracy on handhelds its crazy and big blockbuster games get leaked and downloaded millions of times. Why do you think companies are using online passes& tying accounts to games along with next gen consoles supporting no used copies as an option or making it a requirement.its obviously because of piracy. I dont give a crap though, as long as its coming. Thats good enough for me. And its going to come, rockstar was singing the same tune with GTA 4. They kept all quiet about it then some months after it came out.. Every single GTA has been on pc, There is no reason to believe it wont be on pc .Especially since now more than ever pc gamers are buying games. It be idiotic not to do so.
Â
Â
And now on to my hermit elitism  to stick it to these console inferior fruitcakes.  Who really gives a crap what what devs make the game graphics to be like in there games. The bottom line is,

You could argue all you want about fair comparisons and what the true graphics of the game should be, but the bottom line is PC has clearly the most superior version of gta 4 THANKS TO MODDERS.Â

consoles are superior, have superior exclusives and thats where the moneys atÂ

pc gaming is on life supportÂ
Local GameStop guy said it was done to boost console sales..... Noone with a capable PC would buy the console version of anything.
Â
And piracy.
Who cares about pc gamers anymore anyways, since the announcement of the ps4 ive seen that really they're all a bunch of insecure cry babies that belittle anything thats not them so if they dont get GTA then no great loss.
They will of course but they have to wait a while but thats not good enough for these whiners, get over yourselves its always been this way with GTA aslong as you get a version who cares.
R* will go for the biggest market first which in this case is the consoles so deal with it:roll::roll:

Online passes are used to counter used game sales, Ill give you that. Â But thats not the gamers fault that GS and some other retailers offer the service. Â If devs and publishers want money for used game sales, they have to make an agreement with retailers for royalties on used game sales or something of that nature. Â And rentals are completely necessary because not every game that comes out has a demo released for it. Â Gamers want to make sure that they will like a game before they make the investment into it so rentals are completely necessary. Â If devs are getting screwed over on the rental services available to gamers then they need to do 1 of 2 things, if its a new IP then release it at a lower price than most AAA games so people dont feel like they are taking a risk on an investment in a new IP or start releasing a demo for every game out there so gamers can give it a try and see if its worth it.
[QUOTE="Lucianu"]
[QUOTE="call_of_duty_10"]
The fact that most devs don't care about the PC,obviously.
Perhaps "hide" is not the appropriate word here.I should have said,'divert attention away from the facts'.
call_of_duty_10
But if developers didn't care about the PC platform, it wouldn't have a high number of multiplats, or have the most exclusive game count.
Before 2012,almost all games on PC were console ports with no significant improvements.Of course,in 2012 and 13,there were games with proper pc versions.But now that next gen is about to begin,the cycle will begin afresh.Many of the exclusives are made by small devs,who cannot afford to make games on consoles.
Not a single thing in this post is correct. If you think it is, prove it.

It doesn't matter what you think. The publishers are the ones calling the shots and what they say goes.

True:P, I just think its funny that a gamer such as myself can come up with ideas to counter these problems that devs and publishers face. Â And on the bonus side, these ideas would be a win win situation for gamers and devs both.

I've known pc gamers that never buy games, ever. Bottom line is consoles are more marketable because of the standardized hardware. It's why you see the tv ads for ps/Xbox. General consumer find it confusing to see the game on tv--looking spectacular--and then buying for pc and thinking, "wait this doesn't look how it's advertized" when their machine can't run it at the same level as a decent pc. I know plenty of people who game on consoles but never purchase a game, ever. These same people still get to play online and everything too.
Since when can't you play pirated console games online?
It's how Rockstar makes their games. They focus on getting their console games right these days(because they make an absurd killing on those systems), and then they do a PC port. It is what it is. I doubt the game gets the RDR treatement, but I could see it coming out on the PC in like 2014. jg4xchamp
2-4 months after console release a PC version will either get announced..release..or both.

I'm gonna assume you meant, "since when  can  you play pirated console games online?"  If that's the case, I'd guess it's just like playing pirated PC games online. If it's a popular game, there are going to be pirate servers being hosted for pirate copies. I think the console itself needs to be hacked/modded in some way to get access to non-official servers, though it can be done. I haven't personally seen it done with the 360 or PS3, but I saw plenty of it in the PS2/Xbox days.

Pretty much. I don't suspect that Rockstar will make a big deal out of it, so there probably won't be a whole new advertising campaign or anything for the PC version, but it'll show up. Game will launch on consoles this fall, and by spring/summer next year, a PC version will be announced, quietly, probably just a couple weeks before it launches.

There are chips that bypass whatever MS uses to stop people from going online I believe.[QUOTE="lawlessx"]

I'm sorry but wow you're not sounding bright man. 'Designed for consoles'? What? Why does any of this matter when it is available and made for multiple platforms? It doesn't. It doesn't change the fact that these games are better on the PC; be it technical capabilities - yes options, higher fidelity i.e. resolution, textures, options or content. Gosh, there's a major difference here, otherwise I'd be buying multiplatform games for my PS3 and 360 instead of my PC. And Iow and behold I'm not, the PC versions are almost universally better (some exceptions do stand however). It matters because the extra power on pc won't change the gameplay mechanics.[QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="call_of_duty_10"]
MOds do not change the fact that the game mechanics were designed for consoles.
That was the original argument.The devs didn't do anything to make the pc version better.
call_of_duty_10
Here;s an example:I can play fallout 3 at max settings,with all the sliders maxed out.Since the AI is custom tailored for console limitations,I can often see enemies,but they can't see me.Like,a super mutant is looking directly at me,but it doesn't start attacking,and the UI states that I am 'hidden'. If the game was designed for PC,this wouldn't have been a problem.
Crysis 1 is a game that is designed solely for gaming PCs.The enemy soldiers can see me just as well as I can see them.
Why does that matter? The fidelity is far higher, that's the point here, and no your whole paragraph is a load of **** quite frankly; you're comparing two entirely different engines; Bethesda's comes down to their own framework limitations.All last gen GTA's were timed exclusives on PS2. The games were so good that many gamers bought both the PS 2 version and then the pc version when it released 6 months or so later. Rockstar ends up getting more sales this way. Many pc gamers wont be able to resist the wait, they will cave in and buy a console version of GTA 5. Then they'll get the pc version later to play with better graphics and mods.
[QUOTE="k2theswiss"]
[QUOTE="Sushiglutton"] So you believe that they would make more money by releasing simultaneouslyon PC? So why don't they? Are they incompetent? Or do they just hate PC for no rational reason?Sushiglutton
A: hope console buyers rebuy it on PC for more sells~ which would be sorta stupid as how many people is really going rebuy a game twice? If i bought the game once you can pretty much bet i pirate it.Â
B: maybe the entire rockstar studio's is full of console fanboys
Those arguments doesn't sound that convincing to me tbh. You allready kind of dismissed the first one yourself (besides why don't more companies do that?). Because GTA is one of the most popular franchises. Not many people would buy a console and pc version of Bioshock or Tombraider but GTA is a whole different ball game. Over the years I've seen many people posting about owning both console and pc version of GTA's.
