Wow I'm not impressed with Pokemon XY's graphics

Over world looks ugly. The more contained areas like the gyms and forest look pretty decent. Battles look fantastic.

I think it's more of the fact that it is not the "revoultion 3d pokemon" some were expecting. It is just Pokemon Black with a 3rd person camera.

Over world looks ugly. The more contained areas like the gyms and forest look pretty decent. Battles look fantastic.

Agreed. The forest and battles looked the best.

I will say 3 things defending the game.

1. Pokemon has clearly never pushed graphics (not to say that is a good excuse)
2. 3DS games always look better when you actually play them. Videos always look worse online for some reason
3. They tried to retain the same look of pokemon, yet push it to a 3D feel.

WIth all that said, I agree it could be better, though as stated above, there are fans who would wine and complain that Pokemon should not be in 3D and with "serious" graphics. I think that is just an excuse personally.

In the end, the biggest enhancement is that the skills and animations are actually fun to watch, with sounds that I am assuming are better too. the 3D was actually the least important upgrade to me when compared to those things.

The traveling visuals aren't anything to gush over, but that's probably because all the effort was poured into the unrealistically good graphics of the battles. The character models for the 600+ pokemon and having them animated is no easy task. Espicially when they look this good

This is one hell of a technical acheivement.

I'm loving the artstyIe and battle animations, but I dislike how empty and flat the overworld looks. I'll live with it.

Keep in mind that Gamefreak ALWAYS leaves room for improvement in their games. Compare Diamond and Pearl with Black and White for example. XY will not be the only pokemon games on the 3DS and Gamefreak will continue to lure fans with the new features they didn't include from the start and improved visuals.

I would rather they did this and made those interesting attacks and animations then make everything look better and those worse. SO I will give you that if they went one way or the other, this would be the better way I agree. The animations and sound effects are my biggest annoyance with Pokemon.

Eh they are kind of underwhelming, but I sure it will look okay on the 3DS itself, and I think Gamefreak wanted to go for more style than technical, not to mention this is like the 2nd 3D game they have worked on.

I can agree to the overworld looking bad, but those battles are looking pretty great. Pokemon has never been about graphics, but the 3DS is capable of doing better than what was shown in that video. Still 10 months away from release, plenty of time for polish.

Either way, I wont care if it looked better than what was shown or not, the game will still be as addictive and fun as ever.

Pokemon XY looks like the previous game, but the perspective is a bit different. GameFreak doesn't even care anymore because Pokemon sells a lot. I really hate lazy studios, Nintendo should shut them down and do the Pokemon games themselves.TankBusterJenn

They're not very visually impressive, but I like the art style, especially in the battles
