New Ray Tracing video demonstration. The graphics are simply jaw dropping.
Whilst I wholeheartedly agree, the price for these new GPU's is insane. I'll probably go 2080 and enjoy the decent benefits over my 1070 (after I see benchmarks.)
Yeah, I know what you mean. I'll probably just get a 2080 once the AIO hybrid EVGA edition hits.
I sure hope I can run some of those graphicals features on my GTX 1080, 2000 series is way too expensive in my opinion.
I was more impress with Battlefield V Ray Tracing video then with Shadow of the Tomb Raider but still, only 3 games (Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Battlefield V, Metro: Exodus) will benefit Ray Tracing and it's gonna take more time for developers to catch up with the tech. It's kinda too early for Ray Tracing but I will say that I'm impress but not ready to upgrade my current GPU 1080Ti.

The Battlefield 5 one was insane. The graphics for these are just "off the hook", for a lack of a better term.

I admit, it really took me by surprise how Ray Tracing works on that game more so, definitely insane! I am picking up BFV & Shadow of the Tomb Raider and when I do upgrade, I'll revisit those games using Ray Tracing.
Too bad no PC exclusives take advantage of the power....like Crysis did back in the day
I miss this so much!!!! PC gaming so much better when we had AAA exclusives that where built from the ground up like Max Payne and MP2. Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Half Life 2, SWAT 4, F.E.A.R. and Battlefield 2 ect... for me 01-07 was the golden age of PC gaming before graphics and gameplay got dumbed down. It sucks so much that we doesn't have them anymore this is what PC gaming needs back more then anything else.

I'm with you guys. The whole Ray Tracing looks pretty cool and only adds to the immersion when playing. I just don't see myself picking it up and upgrading my current 1080 Ti. $1,200 is steep for a 2080 Ti. Maybe a year from now?
@zaryia: Games are always better on PC but not what they could be if they were exclusive and built ground up with the PC in mind. Just facts.
I still haven’t seen anything on PC that looks better than God Of War or Horizon Zero Dawn, but keep on bragging about a handful of 3rd party games in slightly higher resolution LOL.
I will take big budget console games over low budget pc games any time.
The jealousy is strong with this one.

It wouldn't be if he worded it better, rather than taking it to the extreme.
Looks absolutely outstanding.
Yet I'm not even remotely compelled to play the game itself.
Now, if RDR2 looked like that, you'd have me looking to buy a desktop with the most up-to-date hardware.
Rise of the Tomb Raider...is...is that really it? Are hermits really that impressed by these graphics?
I'm not saying it doesn't look good, but I actually had to try to be impressed by what ROTTR was showing here because feel I've already seen better but I knew it was "supposed to be" impressive.
...all that power PC fans fap about and some how, some way, inexplicably it still completely pales in comparison to THIS!
A mere console exclusive. How much for that card again? lol So much for so little.
Just look at the mop hair and plastic faces of those ROTTR characters lol seriously, yall hermits impressed?
The difference is I don't have to TRY to be impressed by what's being shown in GOW referring to some bullet points that supposedly "should" make it look better than other games...GOW just IS that impressive and stunning without anyone knowing what tech is pushing it or giving bullet points for why people should be blown away.
And this is a current gen system system game running on "outdated" hardware, if multiplat Tomb Raider is amazing to hermits god help them when we see next gen exclusives for consoles.
All that power and ROTTR still looks like God of Wars bastard step child in comparison, and the same holds true for TLOU II. but sure...can't beat PC graphics as long as you never play console exclusives.

I agree also a reason i barely am interested in new titles anymore. Every new game is heavily dumped down just to make it work on those crappy controllers. It's beyond terrible.
That BF V teaser looked mighty impressive as well.
I'm always a sucker for surface reflections like that.
Sadly it will be disabled by even people that have it most likely as it covers up a lot of detail that can be used to your advantage. For example if a guy shoots the flames infront of windows, it creates massive distractions and covers up detail of people sitting behind that windows that you can't see now even while they can. Rip you.
It's nice for more walking simulator type of games i guess like tomb raider. Should be a perfect fit for sony games.
The good part about holding stuff back tho because of consoles visually on polygonal counts etc is that there is a crap ton of performance that could advance other stuff instead. So there is a win there tho.

works the other way too.
if a guy is trying to sneak up on you from the other side you will be able to see his reflection on a car or window.
we have to wait to see how useful it will be.

It just reminds me of far cry multiplayer times. where people where sitting in high grass covering themselves up on there ultra high end systems so the enemy would see them. Yet most of there enemy's had potato pc's with grass disabled through low settings and would see them from a mile away as there was no grass on there screen.
I gotta be honest I just recently upgraded my GPU to an ASUS 1080ti.. and whilst I admit something like battlefield 4 on ultra, gears 4 on ultra look awesome on my 1440p 165hz screen, my xbox one x does a VERY comparable job on a 4K screen. I don't know how this is even possible but it does. I even plugged my PC into the LG C8 today and the difference really was marginal. I don't care I like playing gears on the 165hz monitor for MP but if all i had was the xbox one x I wouldn't be missing out on much.
Look forward to seeing these new games push the 1080ti! Cause right not I'm not feeling the value TBH.

some games are a bigger improvement than others. 30fps to 144hz should be big enough alone.
also the 1080TI is more of a 4k card. there regular 1080 is the 1440P card.
by buying a 1440P monitor your holding back the 1080TI. however you hooked it up to you 4k oled and still didnt notice? that must be because your tv might be to far away.
either way yea the differences are small like in rise of the tomb raider when you pass through bushes and stuff they move on Pc i think its just static on consoles. same thing with lauras hair on the original tomb raider it had tresseffex where the hair moved a lot more and was static on consoles.
some games are a huge difference like the old assassins creed games. ass1,2 and 3. on the 360 p3 the towns only had a few people in them. on PC the town are super popualted the towns feel alive and real.
anyway. ps4 and xbox 1 are pretty modern and law of diminishing returns kicks in. just keep trying different games. but 4k60 is where its for me. or maybe you should have gone ultrawide. 3440x1440P thats a perk of PC its quite stunning to people to play with ultrawide. and it will still be 144hz because its basically 1440P and your 1080ti will handle it easy.
@KBFloYd: I do agree with you on the frame rates. I love playing Gears on the PC because on ultra settings, 1440p I get around 150-160fps average. Makes the game so much better to play. But you be honest even 60-80fps is enough. 30-50 looks terrible to me now, and I grew up with that being completely normal.
PC graphics? Consoles are pretty much PC's as well. The only difference is what GPU and other parts the system has. Until GPUs come way down in price and are easy to attach to your PC, I don't see most people abandoning consoles.
I play video games for their gameplay, though. I don't put a game on TV to watch graphics. I prefer sitting on a couch as well, with a controller and playing on a big screen TV.
Not too long ago people here where wondering if next gen consoles would be able to catch-up to PC, some even thought the the ps5 leak meant that PC’s would be no match/ irrelevant.
Speculation is gone so now it’s time for them to switch the argument back to console price point....Well you get what you pay for I guess.
