I just got my Xbox 360, and I'm looking to buy some decent games. I want an RPG to start, I already have a shooter (Halo 3came with the system, along with Two worlds [which i only played for a little while, it sux], Ultimate Alliance, and forza motorsport 2). Got any ideas for games I should buy?

Out of the games I listed above, DON'T buy Two Worlds, it's horrible. I think the only one I would suggest is Halo 3. The online play is SO much fun. :P

CooVee

Get Oblivion Game of Year Edition. Over 200 hours of gameplay to be had and the GOTY editions comes with both major expansions, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles.

Oblivion? Get real. Get Mass Effect or try out Lost Odyssey which comes out tomorrow.

I've got 400 MS points left over and I'm looking for a really good 400 points game. I've already bought TMNT, Uno, and Geometry Wars.

The Orange Box has Team Fortress 2 on it and it's an insanely addicting online game. You also get 4 other gaming masterpieces with it on the same disc.

To get back on topic:

Orange Box or Call of Duty 4? I'm leaning towards Orange Box because I already have Halo 3 to play but then I learn back away because I have Bioshock to play for story

I'm kind of picky when it comes to RPG's but recently got into them...any ideas?

Please do NOT respond with the following games:

Mass Effect (have it)
Oblivion (have it)
Morrowind (had it)
The Witcher (had it)
WoW (played it...too much)
Guild Wars (have it)
Diablo I or II (have it)
Gothic Series (don't like it)
Two Worlds (not interested so much)
Jade Empire (have it)
Hellgate: London (have it)
Any of the other Bioware Games...

SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY! Read whole post before replying...
If you don't read the whole post, then don't respond.

Any shooter RPG's would be nice...
No MMO's...just got Guild Wars...

I do NOT like turnbased games, unfortunately...

I do NOT like Final Fantasy games, or Lost Odyssey (sue me)

I know I just limited myself greatly but hey, what do you want from me?

finally gettin my xbox 360 tomorrow. 2 year addiction to WoW caused me to miss alot of other good gaming..

i am going to start with 2 games. a shooter and something a bit more story-driven.

Shooter Choices:

Gears of War - looks awesome, love the duck-and-cover philosophy and the graphic design, but i may be too late gettin into this one, is online play still accessible for newbs?

Halo - looks good, maybe a bit too cliche?. havent played the first ones though. worried about the online community being too young/immature. (i am almost 30 and married)

CoD4 - seems to be a very popular choice these days. afraid this might be too tactical and not enough just fun shooting. but i could be totally mistaken.

Note- i am a FPS noob. I havent been serious into a FPS since Quake, yes, the first one.

RPG/Adventure Choices

Bioshock - the story seems really intriguing and i hear the production value is extraordinary. definately everything i have heard about this one is positive. it is a bit on the fps side though compared to others, not that thats necessarily bad.

Mass Effect - story and acting look great. not sure about the combat system, is it fun? or just tedious to have to give orders in the middle of fps-like action.

Lost Odyssey - i used to just love jrpgs with ffx being one of my faves, which this game shares some obvious influences from. so thats a plus. however i am not sure they still hold the same sway over me. i tried ffxii and i hated it, but tbh it was unlike any other jrpg before it with its weird and annoying combat.

To hards80...

Gears is always a good choice, can't go wrong with that, for 360 or PC. There is still a decent online community for it.

Halo IS cliche, but many many people still play it. If you are going to get it and play online, make sure you will play enough to compete with the 10 year olds who play all day when they aren't in school.

CoD4 is the same, many people play it and it's not necessarily tactical...GRAW and R6:Vegas is tactical, atleast more so than CoD is.

Bioshock is fun, but I think there is no replay value.

Mass Effect is great. The combat system is pretty easy, actually. I went through the first half of the game w/o giving orders. You can make then do stuff on their own in the settings so you don't have to give orders all the time. They just follow and attack if you don't do anything.

Lost Odyssey will be good if you like Final Fantasy...your call. I hear it's great.

This thread is worthless...this is why I posted a topic asking what RPG I should get in the 360 forum instead of this dumb crap...I'm about to do it again, I don't care if my topic gets locked again, that's why there are FORUMS!!!

So my b-day is coming up, and I know I'll have enough money for 2 MAYBE 3 games, so I need help choosing those games. That's where you guys come in :)

Devil May Cry 4

Lost Odyssey

The Orange Box

Bioshock

Call of Duty 4

Mass Effect

I'm looking for games that have a high replay value, and of course, that is loads of fun. Also takes a while to complete the game (Not like a 10 hour campaign or w/e).

Personally i would go for:

Call of Duty 4: It has a superb multiplayer that is heaps of fun. The singleplayer is pretty shor, but it is also excellent.

Mass Effect: It's entirely a singleplayer game, but you can get a lot of replay value out of it if you play the whole story and do all the side quests. You pick a class you play as at the start so you can replay the game as a different class.

The Orange Box: This is really down to preference, but why deny five games in one. ;) Four of the games are entirely singleplayer and vary in length, and the other is an entirely multiplayer game which is a whole lot of fun to play with friends, etc.

Hope i've helped. :)

I honestly woundn't bother with one, mate. There is a lot of debate whither the fan does more damage than good. People have reported that fans cause the 360 to short circuit and then it breaks. As long as you keep it well ventilated and don't pile things on it like DVD players it should be fine. :)

All its doing is putting more load on the 360, chuck it in the bin and run on its own, If you are that worryed about heat then stand it on its end since less surface area on floor leads to more vent holes being able to release hot air. The box is covered by a 3 year warrentry for rod anyway.

I need something new to hold me off until my Rock Band drumset arrives. I have:

Rock Band

Halo 3

CoD4

Vegas

Madden 07

NBA 2k7

Battlefield: MC

Mass Effect

Games that have my interest right now are: Crackdown, Lost Odyssey, and Assassin's Creed. Any suggestions would be helpful though.

That I rented. It was interesting, but I probably wouldn't buy it unless it's pretty cheap. Right now I'm leaning towards Crackdown. I've played and beat it before (rent), but I've had this real urge to play the game again. It was a really good game...

I'm not sure about anyone else but i really liked Crackdown. It was something a little different and collect all the orbs will take you ages. I'm not sure about Lost Odyssey because it's not out in the UK yet, but it seems to be getting a mixed bag of reactions. Try looking at a variety of reviews. :)

Assassin's Creed is also one of those games that you either love, or hate. It has no Multiplayer and can get pretty tedious as all the tasks like climbing view points are all the same old tasks, but i found it a lot of fun to play whilst i had it.

I would go for Assassin's Creed depending on what other's say on Lost Odyssey.

out of those games, i'd choose Mass Effect (my favorite 360 game so far,) Bioshock (2nd favorite,) and...i guess CoD 4. everybody seems to be going crazy over CoD 4, but i really don't see it. it's a fun game, but it's a bit generic compared to Bioshock and ME. i haven't tried Lost Odyssey yet, but i'm planning on buying it soon. i think it looks great, but also pretty oldschool.

Orange box, mostly out of principle, you get all of HL2, ep1 and ep2, Portal, and TF2 for the price of one mediocre, but decent shooter. Since you do NOT have the Orange Box, I HIGHLY recommend it.

wow thats a tough choice

Eternal Sonata's a decent JRPG while Elder Scrolls is a vast western RPG

Id have to go with Elder Scrolls though because of the insane sense of freedom you receive and the amount of content available

However I would recommend both Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect above these two

Yeah...I RAN through Obliv. (did main story line, arena and all guilds) and Shivering Isles (Not KOTN) and that took me 50 hours....I didn't even touch any sidequests or anything...LOT of content.

Sorry, I'm just in an excited LO mood as I just got it :P

Oblivion offers a lot more content and is the vastest game I have ever owned

Obliviously if your a normal RPG fan then Oblivion's your answer, but a JRPG fan then LO is what you want

However, I just feel LO is a lot more polished, story line is more impressive with more interesting characters and better combat. Opinionated, I know, thats what I believe
