The 360 Recommendation Thread - What Game Should I Get? *56k* (Updated 13/06)

Well im definitely getting Army of Two, Vegas 2, and Conedmned 2 Bloodshot, but I am planning to trade in my Madden 08 to get me through the waiting period... So here is my question Lost Odyssey or DMC4... I know its like comparing apples to oranges but still. I enjoyed the first three DMC games and thought they were great. I do not have that much experience with JRPGs but I am a great RPG fan and a lot of people are saying that Lost Odyssey is simply stunning. So here is the question. Which game should I go for ....

I already decided that I'll get 2 games, one of them will be Devil May Cry 4, but I'm having trouble about picking the other one because I might be 1 or 2 months without buying a third game, so can you guys help me pick one of these (or add one to the list?)

Oh ya, I won't play online since I'll lag, and the price is kind of high where I live. So I'll only single player (at least for some months), so please help me pick them based on single player quality =)

I'll eventually get all of these, but help me pick an order? I think I'll also get Oblivion IV but I'll wait till some vacations month, I'm sure I'll get addicted xD (dam rpgs =x)

If Ninja Gaiden 2 was out that second game would be it xD!

I would suggest BioShock, it has a rich story and multiple endings which could give you the playthrough (hint: the good side is more challenging and you'll see why) or Mass Effect (it has a good story but some sidequests may seem a little bit repetitive...) Other than that, CoD4 has a short single player...... Halo 3 has a fun story and if you played the first two you might be interested in how it will work out. I wouldn't quite recommend Assassin's Creed, it is a good game in its own right and very exciting, but it gets repetitive for some people.... Get Condemned which is only like $20 bucks for your third game, it is great, and consider Oblivion if you're not against playing an older game, those are my suggestions.

EDIT: The darkness is fun but short, Gears of War is amazing, but it is also just five acts and I got through it in one night...

I haven't played Lost Odyssey or Devil May Cry 4 yet but I would recommend you purchase DMC 4 because you liked the previous three, so chances are you will also enjoy the fourth one. Since you haven't played many JRPGs, you may want to stay away from Lost Odyssey until you are sure that it is worth your money. You might want to rent one and purchase the other or just rent both to be on the safe side. Nothing like saving $40 by renting a game.

I will only list Xbox 360 RPGs since this is the Xbox 360 forums. If you want a PC RPG or Xbox RPG, go elsewhere.

You could try Marvel: Ultimate Alliance or Two Worlds. Both have recieved mix reviews. Later this year you might want to try Fable 2 and Fallout 3.

Bioshock, Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey are the best single player games on the console I think :)

Cod4 is very good but its also short. Same as Gears, although it does have co-op

The Darkness I enjoyed a lot as well but some others didnt

I would pass on Assassins Creed as it gets really repetitive and boring after a while and certainly would advise skipping Halo 3's campaign. Hope this helps :)

The Darkness was fun but I recommend Bioshock over it...even though I truly hate the fanboy status it achieved. It's definitely worth one or two playthroughs.

Darkness' multiplayer is way way subpar and it uses and outdated engine that shows some FPS issues. I bought it on eBay for $15 and it was worth it but if you HAVE to choose, get Bioshock. Better story, voice-acting, graphics (The Darkness' are actually quite good).

Buy Bioshock and rent or buy a bargain bin copy of The Darkness.

Halo 3's SP is a bit short, albeit good. And Gears is DEF. worth the single while it shines in it's multiplay. All of those are solid choices.

Yeah Gears is worth playing, definately. One of the best single players imo.

Id only recommend getting Halo 3 if you have only - I didn't enjoy unless I was playing my m8s

My recommendation for SP games:

Mass Effect \\Great RPG, I got annoyed with the technical issues though. I hope they release a patch for it.

Halo 3 \\SP campaign was alright. Personally, I didn't like most of the MP maps too much

Call of Duty 4 if you have live. If you don't have live get live and get Call of Duty 4. It is amazing.

If you have Live definitely get Call of Duty 4. If not, it will depend on your RPG preference. If you prefer western ones go for Mass Effect, or if you prefer JRPGs go for Lost Odyssey. :)

If you aren't too sure whether you will like it or not, make sure you rent it. I really try to get on to people about this because I see so many people buy games that they end up not liking. Rent, rent, rent! If you like it, then you can buy it and it wont be a waste of so much money that could be used for others.

Also consider The Club. According to a different topic in this forum, it was pretty good, especially the multiplayer.

AND how did my statement in any way say to base the purchase entirely off the demo? I said if there IS a demo, then try it out if you are interested in the game. If the person dismisses the game based on that, then that's their fault/loss.

I want an RPG i have mass effect. I'm gonna get lost odyssey and thinking about getting eternal sonata. Is there any other RPG games out or coming out that are good? craigalan23

You should also try Blue Dragon. It's developed by the same people who did Lost Odyssey. I've heard some fairly mixed reviews on it. It's supposedly an okay RPG that hardcore fans of the genre might want to check out. Also try Mass Effect. I've been playing that and so far it's great. Also, if you enjoy action/RPG rent Dark Messiah Might and Magic: Elements. GameSpot didn't really enjoy it, but I found it to be pretty good despite some technical issues and a bit repetitive now and then.

Should I get Frontlines: Fuels of War (when it comes out) or Turok?

I have having trouble deciding between Frontlines: Fuels of War (when it comes out) or Turok.

I have played Turok demo and it is amazing and I tried the Frontlines: Fuels of War demos and they are also amazing.

Here is what I am looking for in these either of these games.

1: Campaign that lasts at least 5 hours.

2: Fun multiplayer

3: Game play that is similar to Halo 3 and/or COD 4.

4: Good Replay value

I haven't played Turok yet but I hear the campaign is quite fun. I'm sure it's somewhere near five hours. I'm not sure if anyone knows how long Frontlines campaign is since it isn't out yet.

I hear Frontlines online is really fun so I assume if it's as good as everyone is saying, you will find yourself playing Frontlines on end.

So in my opinion, Frontlines but give Turok a chance and rent it. Or vice versa. Whatever works best with you.

Well since you dont care for Gears and Halo.

Yes get COD 4.

Forza 2 is a great sim racer, but if u want more arcadish try Burnout and even Project Gothem Racing 4.

Not a RTS fan myself, so go with C&C 3 if you like

RPGs id consider either Mass Effect for more open ended or Lost Odyssey if you want a more JRPG type rpg.

Action id go with Devil May Cry 4 until Ninja Gaiden 2.

I've been playing a TON of Tiger Woods golf lately. The gameplay is unbelievable and the play options are fantastic. Not to mention the graphics are great.

I strongly reccommend it if your a person into sports game and want a challenge.
