The 360 Recommendation Thread - What Game Should I Get? v2 *56k*

So I'm thinking about getting Lost Odyssey and/or Mass Effect since I love RPGs, but I have seen some not-too-good reviews for Lost Odyssey, but I love turn-based RPGs.. and Mass Effect got amazing ratings, but I'm not a HUGE fps fanatic, so I'm not sure if that'll still be good for other aspects.

Anyway, I can get either for $25 each, you guys think it's worth it?

Hello people, I'm 14, My birthday is in two months and my mom wants me to start telling her what I want so she can save for it or even buy it in advance. Me and my family aren't terribly poor or overly rich, we're higher middle-class. So we can probably afford the 400-800 dollars VERY MAX range, anywhere around 500-600 is ultimately preffered price. Basically I want to deck kmyself out on the next gen of gaming gear and games/consoles/tvs. I really have no idea where to start, this will probably be my biggest/most expensive birthday and I want to take advantage of it.

I've already decided to either get a xbox360 or ps3 (I already have a WII and a psp and DS, so please don't suggest those).

I've decided to get a xbox360 so far, though not sure what stuff to get, which version of it, (premium, elite, etc.?)

I'd like to get xbox elite, 3-8 games, a nice mix of strategy/shooters/rpg's...please don't list more then 1 or 2 m-rated games (MY mom is very uncomfortable about me playing m-rated games and she'll probabaly freak out if I ask for like 5 m-rated games..unfortunatly she watches Dr.Phil alot xD)

Please follow the guide lines I gave, and make a list with 3-8 games not to many m-rated, nice mix of rpg/shooter, anything is appreciated through, thank you I'd love any help you can give!

Bioshock - rated M, FPA.

Halo 3 - rated M, FPS.

I paid 60$ each and think it's worth it.

And Boorego I just went through my games library and these are all the games that I own that I would reccomend based on what you said.

Kameo - Rated T but don't let the colours fool you it's a fun game.

Halo 3 - A rated M game but I found it to be extremely fun.

You may wish to look into Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise as well. It's rated E.

But I feel bad for you man, all the Rated M games I have(which is majority) I would find suitable for someone your age. My brother plays them and has been playing them for years(he's 14 now) and he's fine.

Lol, yea dr.phil is a good guy and everything but he's kind of annoying. If you can beleive it or not my mom didn't let me play T-rated games, even the most mild ones till I was like 13...=D She saw this episode once about some 20 yr old on dr.phil who had been playing everqeust on pc for uyrs and killed himself eventually; that kind of scared the crap out of my mom.

So yea, but anyway thanks for the advice..never heard of sonata or that other game yo mentioned, the two T-rated ones, and yea' i'll probabaly pass on pinata game. I'll post a list of games and maybv u guys can tell me what u think.

Supposedly the older xbox's 36o's don't last very longer or do they all have same probleM? Hve newer xbox's been fixed. Is a 60gb PRO xbox 360 less likely to have red lights of death? whats the deal??)

FYI-I have a older brother(17) who is a Nintendo fanatic who won't admit it and he's pretty mucha video game expert at fixing technical crud and which games are better and stuff...though he's a nintendo fanboy but he won't admit it! =D basically I want to get a good adventure game, like bioshock or are there any others not-rated m? like..or else basically any good co-op games?

Games I might get/questions:( In order of importance plz feel free to tell me which games i should put on hgher priority, only really game here I know I definetly want to get is Halo 3.)

1. Halo 3- I heard it has 4-player co-op online? Does that mean is has co-op in non-online also as in..can somebody who's playing alongside me such as my brother play with me in co-op not-online and online, and also is there a co-op storymode?

2. SC IV- Does this have a co-op story mode? Co-op online with other person on same console with u? split-screen?? (Offline)

3. Civ. Revolution- Can 2 ppl play agaisn't each other or work together? (offline co-op?)

4. Bioshock- Anything c0-op about it?( I knew the story and game play is great without somebody telling me, but I'm not sure if its such a great "beginner game" as in, is it really worth it to get this righ taway? I mean..you can only play the story once eh? I was thinking this probabaly wouldn't be a good game to get right away, cause I should probabaly get some high-replay value games with online and crud ya' know? not saying its a bad game just saying i probabaly should get it later on.)

5. Oblivion scrolls IV- Not sure about this one, would u put this game higher on my list? I heard its great, but eh...Idk, how much space it use I can't find any sites that tell how much space a game uses?

6. Cod4- I would only want to get this cause everybody else is...thats only reason though. I don't know howo intense it is, though. I probably dont' need two major fps games eh?

Last question: i was reading and now I'm so bummed out. I just found out about the fact u need gold xbox live membership to even play online multiplayer games on any xboxo games...WTF! xbox is totally rippin ppl off with that.

Either MS is money hungry or they just have bad xbox live setup. I dont' even give a fk about being able to save games/watch video replays of online matches osee myself on game leader board or any of that crap. Silver membership should let u play online matches and save games, small basica things like that and u should have to pay to be in clans or fancy crud like that, recording videos, exc. I mean gosh..I dont think there should be any gold membership ooption to play online or any of that at all, you should get that part of it freee...but if they aboslutly have to have a member system for EVEn more porfit they should atlleast give non-players the most basic function-online play! Besides tht, i doubt my rant would change anything in a million years milliosn of ppl have made similars ones..so..what should I do about xbox live, get that 6 month package, 1 motnh 1 yr?? what should i get..or should i just get the free month of membership it comes wiht. Also, do you all agree I should get a new xbox pro? i mean used games are fine, but I should be safe and get new one? or willl i be fine getting used xbox pro? not sure..please comment or help me :|

Also I'd appreciate if my pro xbox question/red rings of light and the querys i had about the games I picked could be answered primarily, those are biggest problems, though thanks! Definitely go for the new Xbox, because it comes with a fresh warranty.

And the year of XBL is the best deal out of the times you can purchase.

The three games I listed above are what I would immediately recommend to any gamer, but please tell us your personal favorite genres so we can make better recomendation, becasue right now we're just shooting in the dark. Also SC4 does not have co-op story mode, bioshock is single player only, I'm 99.9% sure Civ Rev doesn't have offline multiplayer, don't get CoD4 just because eveyrone else has it (that's stupid and ignorant) and halo 3 has 2 player offline co-op and 4 player online co-op.

yes you can play halo 3 online in splitscreen. you can infact play with 4 people on the same 360 all online.

oblivion seems to be the best choice for you..you should try ordering it online if you cant find it in stores.

eternal sonata is a great JRPG and Halo 3 and Bioshock are good FPS's.

So I just got a 360 and I want a really good shooter that has a long co-op campaign and a good locale split screen multiplayer where you a some friends can fight AI players. what game could fit all those things.badgerfuzz

I know most of you are going to say FC2, but Im a really big basketball fan and I havent owned a basketball game since the ps1 days. Basketball is my life and I enjoyed playing 2k8 at my friends house but at the same time, FC2 looks amazing, map editor and everything. What do you guys think?

I'm probably getting two games later today. Rock Band 2 and NHL 09.

However, I owned both Rock Band 1 and NHL 08. Are there enough differences between the originals and sequels to justify a full $60 purchase?
