@Eldeorn @dxBIGBOSSxb Wow, really? Your talking about quality games and the best you can think of is MGS4 and Dark Souls. Yick!

But ya I guess your right. AC3 was far more linear than the others. It was practically a corridor game, holding your hand the whole time. And the game world was so tiny, there were no awesome new systems or game elements. (SARCASM)

I've worked in the industry as well and I agree with your general statement but your crazy if you think it applies to the AC franchise. Especially AC3 which was amazing. The one and pretty much only thing I would change in AC3 was the fact that the naval portions were mission based. It would have been a lot better if the naval portion of the game was open world like everything else. Hopefully that will be addressed in AC4.

@dxBIGBOSSxb Your absolutely right BigBoss. The amount of time and effort that goes into making a game is insane. I've worked in the industry and been lucky enough to see the developers at work and actually work with them, in a minor capacity. These people work sometimes 18 hours days and often 7 days a week. I put it my fare share of 14 and 16 hour days and I worked many 7 day weeks. I was happy too and proud to know I was helping to make whatever game I was working on at the time better for the end user.

I hate this idea that every game that comes out must have better graphics than the last and must add something brand spanking new and mind blowing to the formula. It's an insanely stupid, small minded, and greedy concept.

I don't want or need great new graphics for a sequel to a game that I love. I also don't necessarily need a bunch of new gameplay elements. There are many games I can think of that I just want more of exactly what I already have. Red Dead Redemption is a prime example. I had hoped they would release a lot more content for RDR as it was one of the best games I'd ever played. It seemed to me it would have been fairly simple to add new missions and areas. Instead we got a zombie one off, that was great, but not at all what I wanted. I'm sure Rockstar is taking forever making the next Red Dead game graphically amazing for an open world game, but I don't care about that.

The AC franchise is another one of my favorite franchises. I love the fact that they continue to pump out more content for me to play. I don't mind in the slightest that the graphics don't improve that much, because I'm not one of the lower life forms known as graphics whores, and I don't mind that each game is fundamentally the same but with a few additions. Because they are adding more story and more gameplay. The two most important parts of any video game.

Personally I loved Revelations. It was more of exactly what I wanted but deeper and more complex than any of the entries past. In a time when games are becoming more and more simplified I was glad they added several new systems, bomb crafting and base defense. Also the game was huge. My favorite type of game is open world. I game a lot and the bigger and longer a game is the better as it usually doesn't take me long to finish it.

AC3 is one of my favorite games. I would have been happy with AC3 even if it didn't have all the awesome new features it had. It was more of the awesome AC gameplay, but refined and deeper, and it was more of the great AC story. The naval combat and homestead were icing on the already awesome cake.

Maybe I just feel this way because I game pretty much all day everyday, but I just want more content. Being new and innovative is great, having jaw dropping graphics is great too. But not every game needs these things. A sequel should be more or less just more of the same. When a sequel for a game comes out I get excited for the story to continue, not for some cool new feature or how much more shiny the graphics are. People are being far too critical.

@trywizard I had the same thought when I watched that video. Although I don't know if the trailer for deep down was truly, in game, footage I do like what they are aiming for. It very well could be DD2 in it's early stages.

I know how to get a good Aliens game. Give it to Visceral the guys behind Dead Space. They understand the pacing of scifi-horror perfectly. Plus I think it would be really cool to see a 3rd person shooter Aliens game.

@Capt_Doom I agree it would be nice if there was a 3rd person option. Or if there was a cover system that would snap you to 3rd person whenever you take cover ala rainbow six vegas. However I have played many games in the first person perspective that aspired to be much more than just a first person shooter. It's doable. Can't wait for more info and gameplay footage.

A female lead can hurt sales, wow, that's really reeeaaally sad and pathetic. Personally I don't think it's the fact that the character is a girl that hurts sails. I think it's the fact that female characters tend to be created poorly most of the time. And if having a female lead character really does hurt sales for no other reason than the main character is a female, then gamers are in an even more sorry state than I thought.

I have no problem with Dead Space 3 going in the direction it is. It makes sense for the game to be a little less tense and scary. People adapt. If Isaac was still the same scared unprepared guy from the first game it would make no sense. The only way they could continue to make the franchise more confined and tense, and still have the narrative make sense, would be if they changed protagonists. Weather or not you like the game this is the natural progression for the story.

Of course gamestop is going to take a stance against this. Used game sales are a huge part of their revenue. It's true gamers will not want a console that will not allow them to play used games but don't think for a second that this is gamestop standing up for gamers. No, this is gamestop standing up for their sales.

Notice he also said "they want portability in their games; they want to play physical games," This is gamestops way of saying, digital downloads are bad too. Of course they are going to say gamers want physical games, digital downloads hurt gamestop sales.
