[QUOTE="Nipplehook"]First. Its a Demo. Second. Not only is it a Demo but its a BETA DEMO.onemic

That's a terrible excuse :D

Before you know it every company will start releasing "beta demos" and then they can even dismiss any claims of their game being bad (not saying this one is though) because it was just a "beta demo". That's saaaaad...

Thank God someone else "gets it". Beta is now a marketing trick so that players will be more forgiving of a games shortcomings and still hype it on the net. Boooooo to beta. Crysis beta demo, however, seems legit - they have had several iterations with major changes after receiving feedback. MAYBE UT:3 will go the same route, but I think they just wanted to get some attention...

UT Boss: "It seems like all the cool kids have demos this month, so we'd better have one too."

UT Dev: "OK, but let's slap a beta label on there so people don't complain about much teh graphics sux."

And lets also completely forget the fact that the graphics are capped at medium as well.

Let's also not completely forget that the graphics are damn good even if they are at medium..

[QUOTE="milan444"]

any1? I need 25fps atleast, and i need to play at 1024x800 res

t3ch82

New PC? you can run the game, but you cant complain or have a "i must run at" without planing to invest into your PC.

I sold my old computer a P4 2.0Ghz for 400 USD... but with 300GB HD, and a Ti4200 128

Outdated.. but it should run HL2 on low-medium..

Save up for a new rig is a definate for you...

I know Dual Core systems that sell for 400 bucks... (would I buy one for gaming? No... but that is just me)

Well, Supreme Commander also had SecuROM disc check patched out since the second patch. And SecuROM has been around for a while without much controversy - certainly not at the levels of StarForce anyway. Also should be noted is the fact that what kicked up the controversy in the case of Bioshock was NOT SecuROM itself - but its online validation feature. 2K has already at one time said this is separate and removable. Personally, copy protection will continue to annoy consumers until they: 1) Make it transparent, so consumers know exactly what they're getting themselves into. 2) Make it universal. It is in people's nature to adapt to the familiar, but currently there is nothing familiar about copy protection in PC games: you have one that requires internet validation, and others that don't. You have one that you have to update or it might mess up your system, and others that don't. It's a mess, and there is zero continuity between title to title. Just as people are starting to get used to one copy protection scheme, another completely different one comes up. 3) Make it easy. Five install limits? Revoke tool? Uninstallation utility for something that should have been uninstalled with the game? Please, just cut the fat.madrocketeer

QFT very well said :)

[QUOTE="ProudLarry"]What kind of hardware is in it?RK-Mara

I googled and this is what I found: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/dell-inspiron-6000/4507-3121_7-31257675.html

I recommend not to buy that laptop.

I have to agree... I bought a laptop for 600 USD that has better stats than that.. If your paying more than that your getting ripped off..

Since I've only played Halo 1 on my now, "given away" X-box.. I have to go with Half-Life..

Before that game the only other FPS I played on a console was Goldeneye.. ala N64.

Umm just downloaded the demo.. and if you think the graphics suck or are subpar in any way your just wacked.. I don't own a 360 or a PS3, or even a Wii.. So I have not played the "next gen" console at all.. But, I have played Bioshock, HL2: EP2, Portal, Dark Messiah, etc.. and I can tell you just look at the detail in the game before just talking crap.. fly through the map and look at the textures of the objects.. how the water moves and looks.. how Shangrila feels compared to the other team based map.. totally different feel.. sure oriental but different.. I'm quite pleased with the game myself.. and it will be a "insta buy" since I loved UT04.

Also, every UT that has come out (03-04 count as one UT) has had a certain style and feel.. UT99 was more spacy based.. UT03-04 more jungle based.. and now with UT3 more oriental based .. To just knock the game because of a certain feel or "graphical presentation" is just crazy... I've been playing FPS games since Wolf3d and I am very much impressed with UT3..

Also, when have you known a UT game not to have great soundtracks?! They are pretty good in the demo.. I'm looking forward for the other tracks.... I still jam out to the Killer Instinct Soundtrack from my old SNES Killer Instinct game.. to me, music is more important than graphical presentation.. Hell.. I even listen to Doom 1's soundtrack a ton... Dunno man.. maybe you are one of those "spoiled" gamers that was talked about in a previous thread..

Anyways, peace out and good luck finding a "graphically appealing" game in the future to suit your tastes.

[QUOTE="bobstos"]I restarted my computer and went to open Steam and it just goes to the main page and then crashes to the desktop. I can't play any games, I can't do anything associated with Steam. Anyone else having this problem? anyone know how to fix this issue? I couldn't find any helpful topics on the official forums, so I thought I would come here.twitch007911

Um same problem here exactly. I unintalled steam... but guess what? you have to reinstall every game that uses it. And redownload every game you have purchased. I really didn't like seeing that I had to re-download Just Cause at over 7 gigs. sorry man. BTW it never happened until I got vista.

Had that happen on my laptop which, btw, uses Vista Home Premium.. my main comp which uses XP has never had that happen..
