Why not? Did you receive some insider-info?[QUOTE="AlwaysSoft"][QUOTE="DarkCatalyst"]Online won't even be that great. Where PS3-only owners really get the shaft is in the fact that the 360 gets version C.Darth_Homer
While we don't know for sure, if there's lag involved, it'll ruin the game. Sadly, a lot of fighters are hit by this problem...
Lag is an issue that every online game has a possibility of dealing with from time to time. If your'e playing with someone that is downloading 3 movies and 10 songs at the same time, then it's likely going to occur in your game with him. However, it hardly "ruins" a game beyond the match you have with that one idiot (whom is likely to suffer worse effects than you are and will lose accordingly).Did it really get your girl into "gaming"? Or did it get her into non-gaming?Each to their own I suppose....
I however have to thank Nintendogs, it got my girlfriend into gaming along with the Pink DSL.

Because unless it got her into playing the types of games a real gamer would play (Half-Life, MGS, GTA, Zelda, etc.), then it's the latter. Which in my opinion, is the equivalent of fiddling around with minesweeper on your computer every other week.
[QUOTE="DJ_Lae"]The only thing I really didn't like about Doom 3 was that they insisted on calling it a Doom game. I guess it has the marine and hellspawn in common, but the gameplay was hugely different.
Serious Sam was a better Doom sequel than Doom 3. Having said that, Doom 3 was still fun, if tiresome in spots due to the incessant use of imps spawning in behind you and the need to flip back and forth between flashlight and gun. The shotgun wasn't terribly satisfying either, which is never a good sign (a game that has a wimpy shotgun is almost automatically garbage).
Still a pretty game in 1920x1200, though it is annoying that you have to dig through ini files to hack widescreen. And I think someone compared Doom 3's graphics to Far Cry's indoor levels...no. Just no. :P
PikaPichu
Agreed. As far as gameplay goes, Serious Sam pays MUCH better homage to the original Doom games than Doom 3 could ever hope to.
Well ya. The Serious Sam games did play more like the old Doom games, in that they ignored all innovations in the genre in the last 10 years to it's release. I don't necessarily think that means that Doom 3 should'nt have evolved even slightly. It was still virtually the same in most ways though. Just run and gun, shoot first gameplay. In fact, most of the complaints you'll hear about Doom 3 are about it's archaic gameplay. It's a shooter in the purest sense just like Doom was. Not an action/adventure game that just so happens to be in the first person viewpoint, like most other "shooters" these days.

Ya I thought my head was going to explode back when GTA4 was still set for 2007. Thankfully, a lot has been pushed back since then.
Although I suppose you can't really have too much of a good thing. All this means is that when the drought comes along, I'll have a ton of AAA and AA titles to pick up at discount prices.
[QUOTE="AlwaysSoft"]Granted, I've had some fun with games that scored in the 7s here in the past. I really enjoyed Crackdown. Although I can see why it scored what it did here. I imagine the case will be the same once I've played Ratchet. Have some fun with it but ultimately forgettable and not really worthy of the outstanding score some want to believe it is worth.

I don't really follow your logic. By your own admission you assume the GS review to be correct and therefore you've rendered judgment even before playing the game. That's a self-fulfilling prophecy, yes?
I'd be wary of giving any site or magazine that much leverage in regards to your gaming decisions. This site is a good resource for many things, reviews included, but GS, like every other site and magazine on the planet, has released some piss poor reviews.
And you should actually play a game like the new R&C before using adjectives like "forgettable" to describe it.
I was'nt passing judgement. Just said what I imagine the case will be. In my experience, if GS says a game isn't worth a 9, or even an 8, I have found that to be true despite whetherIGN and GI have showered it with 10s or not.I've already mentioned that I've still had a lot of fun with games like Crackdown that did'nt even receive an 8 here, so my preconceptions regarding Tools of Destruction do not necessarily mean I think it will have no redeeming qualities. I just don't think it's any sort of "savior" or especially not a game of the year contender. Which, judging by the backlash, is what everyone was expecting or at least hoping it would be.
[QUOTE="AlwaysSoft"]Your'e right. I apologize for my childish behavior.[QUOTE="sonicare"]You guys should stick to the argument and not resort to personal attacks. That's uneccesary.sonicare
As for your last post, I agree with every word. The part about the score not affecting too many people does'nt really apply to me though, because had GS scored it a 9 or above, I would likely be only 2 or 3 more games away from breaking down and purchasing a PS3.
Don't worry, I'm not criticizing you guys. Just be careful because the mods tend to be very strict about heated arguments as I have unfortunately found out in the past
:P Yes I expect when they get here, most of my posts will be cleaned up and I could get a vacation (depending on how many friends my nemesis has made upstairs), but heck if it wasn't worth it.Anyways, I caught rragnarr's post on the matter in the "other" forums. So short and to the point that I nearly spat out my drink
[QUOTE="AlwaysSoft"]I agree. I waited 3 years before playing Doom 3, because I absolutely refused to ruin the experience by playing the console version (after a rental). Not only are the graphics still great, but the game itself was a blast. Very scary at times as well. An emotion I doubt I would've felt on the Xbox version.[QUOTE="GodModeEnabled"]Doom 3 rox my sox, and you get +3 cool points for agreeing with me. Excellent graphics, immersion and horror. I loved the atmosphere and level of tension and fear the game provided.sonicare
I recommend it to anyone (PC version).
why would you wait? the PC version came out long before the console version. Were you waiting on a PC that could run it?
Yes. I didn't have the time or money for a top of the line rig at the time of Doom 3's PC release. I only recently played through it. Wish I was able to 3 years ago though, when it was fresher, but I still found much to enjoy. You guys should stick to the argument and not resort to personal attacks.
