@loafofgame: Well, comparing all reviews so far I'd say the former suggests controls leading to some annoying moments and the latter suggests the player just did not play any game in the series.
I mean, characters in project zero always acted like a tank. That's one argument you sure can come up with and say it could be better - maybe even say it's pretty much outdated. However, that's far from being unreliable, clunky and frustrating. Even the gyro controls seem to be an issue just with a selected few people so far, just like Skyward Sword. Some don't get it, so it's the fault of the game... Meh! That being said I have to add: imprecise controls in a game where precise motions are needed for jumping, sneaking and whatever are far more deadly than gyro issues just a few people seem to experience.
I had a blast with 4 Swords Adventure (singleplayer only), so I will try this as well. Sounds kinda similar. The only thing which does put me off is the weird limits in multiplayer. Why can't I play it wit just one other player? Damn...
@virtuasega: According to reviews from IGN, etc. the gamepad works brilliantly. The only real problem seems to ge the basic controls, like walking. And to be fair: That was typical tank-like in the old games too. Sure, it is no longer up-to-date, but maybe it is the games concept of being some rather old relic of the survival horror era.
And as for "repetitive combat" mentioned in almost any review: I cannot take this argument very serious, because that is the case in every game, or at least most of em. Even games like Uncharted or Metal Gear V are full with that.
@ virtuasega: Exactly... If they are broken. I don't want to be rude, but games like Skyward Sword showed some people just suck at motion controls. I don't have any broken controls there just the first Zelda where a Skulltula can kill you. If I failed it was me, not wonky controls. Same could be the case here.
