@PrpleTrtleBuBum: dude... consoles are DRM by definition. Your entire collection of console games can't be opened, can't be enhanced with mods, most of them can't run in older/newer consoles or be lend to others. Consoles are the worst and most restrictive DRM system in history because their games can't be cracked without lose online services or guarantees. On PC at least sooner or later will be caracked.

@rabih55555: even in that case, DRM still bothering legit users, developer's side must be with their users first, but devs who uses DRM threat their own users worse than pirates.

@straightcur: Exactly, also, those who wanted to pirate and can't, simply won't buy the game, DRM never forced to buy, never prevented to pirate (after crack), but always bothers legit users.

I will search a good vanilla version to remember my first steps in MMOs...

I think the expansions have destroyed the game, leaving obsolete all level 60 items, because the new level 70, World of Warcraft vanilla! explore Elwynn Forest again and then watch the movie, yes!

@rogerhheflin: On consoles you lose one of the most wanted features of RPGs, customization, and I'm not talking about just mods, basic things as change portraits are impossible on consoles, not mention that historically isometric point & click games ported to consoles was always disappointing. Why people still bother with consoles I wonder.

@pcps4xb: you are saying that you are a casual gamer, it's ok, but still the question: why are you so proud of what you can't do.

I'm proud for being able to play them even today in a simple click, for have played all genres, for remove the censorship in adult games, for design my own adventure in my favorite game, etc,

You are proud for... not being able to still playing your games, didn't played all genres, never remove censorship, never crossed your mind design your own adventure in your favorite game, etc. That is?, really? or must be something else?

Ok, you love your games and I love mines, now, try to tell me something that you can do with your favorite games that I can't do in mines. Just think if you can find something that you can do better than I in your marvelous games, or at least explain why I have the sensation that I'm feeling more proud with my gaming history, than you with yours.

@wolfpup7:you understand that you still giving excuses for all the things you can't do, right?

You don't care mods, you don't care retro-compatibility, you don't care quality, you don't care to be able to play all genres besides the pad-only genres, like strategy, RPG, simulation, etc, ok, I get that you (say) that you don't care, but still things that you CAN'T do.

In other words, you (say) that you don't care a lot fo things, now, but if tomorrow, for any reason, you decide that you want to play a mod that looks amazing, or re-play something from your childhood, or play a game from a genre that needs keyboard or mouse, etc, you won't be able to do that.

Why? because you choose a device that deny a lot of things that shouldn't be denied, because of prejudice, fanboyism, or whatever, you are denying yourself a lot of things that you (say) you don't care today, but you never can assure that someday you would want.

@pcps4xb: You didn't answered: a "masterpiece" can be as well as its media allows, if I need to run Horizon Zero Down on a crap device, without mods, and limited in time, it not worth my time.

And it don't worth your time, and the time of anybody, why? look:

When I've discovered Baldur's Gate, was the best digital experience in my life, I spend years on that game, I've tweacked each corner of the Sword Coast, customized each member of my party, I have done a perfect adventure to me, and I can re-play it whenever I want. The same to Diablo 2, Age of Empires, Heroes of Might and Magic, Arcanum, etc...

Now, If I were grew up among consoles, that space would be filled by Final Fantasy, Mario Bros, Zelda, etc... tell me how could I mod those games in such crap devices? how could I still playing them today? If you really, really, like a game, the worst thing that can happens to you is that be only available in a device without future.

Return to Star Wars, how amazing would be that movie if you need to play it in a 1979's device? you can enjoy Star Wars forever because you can play it whenever you want, in the quality you want, right? Now tell me what was "the" console game of your childhood back in 2000s, or 1990s, tell me the effort you need to do manage to today, to re-play emulating or in an outdated device, and I will feel pity for you.

@NeonicTrash: I'll put simpler: if you need a device from 1979 to see again Star Wars, today that movie probably would suck because people is usual to widescreen HD TVs.

It's exactly for your "masterpieces" on console from past years that now need outdated consoles, or PC emulation, your "masterpieces" has no future.

A masterpiece can be as well as its media allows, oral tradition from the past lost lot of information, written tales are more accurate, well, consoles are the equivalent of oral tradition in the digital era: good intention, bad media.
