I couldn't care less about who the publisher is. If a game looks like a good purchase to me I'll buy it, if it's bad or really buggy I won't. I play games for fun, I'm not concerned with the whole evil big publisher drama.

I totally disagree with that guy. Steam doesn't need a quality control and I think Greenlight and Early Access has brought Steam users some amazing games.

When it really boils down to it, it's the consumer who presses the buy button. There are SO many resources, both on steam and on third party sites, to get information about a game before you buy it that you really have no excuse for buying a piece of shit game.

The problem is many consumers are lazy/ignorant and they buy a game because the idea sounds awesome then they freak out when they play it because it's an alpha build and they don't even know what an alpha is (this more applies with early access).

They are both pretty different games.

Rust has more of an arcade game feel as it is faster paced, it also has resource gathering and extensive crafting. The PvP resembles something along the lines of counter strike. The map is going to be more crowded and fights are easier to find (assuming your on a populated server). I'd suggest you play with friends or make them, solo is tough in Rust.

DayZ is more of a simulator where the PvP resembles realism. There is very little crafting, the map is large and players are spread out, but it has much deeper injury/food systems. It's a slower paced game overall with more of a realistic feel. Also you are right DayZ is more solo friendly.

Also note both games are still in alpha and will probably change a lot over the next couple of years.

I would work on making a better trailer, that one was basically a person running around for 7 minutes and nothing really happened. Since it's a horror game it would be nice to add in some scares in the trailer.

Anyhow good luck with the game, I'll try out the beta sometime when I get a chance.

Who in their right mind wouldn't expect a ton of issues from an MMO alpha that's basically a building simulator for the real game.

Normally I don't have a problem with these "pay for alpha/beta" because your actually paying for the game or premium game time and the alpha is just added incentive, but it looks like here you are literally paying for alpha access...that and some vanity items.

I'm not going to pre-order anything till the NDA drops. I want to know more about the PvP mechanics. I also hate the pre-order bonuses, having some cosmetics is one thing but a whole god-damn race!? Not a good start for this game IMO.

Make sure your discrete GPU is set to run games by default if you also have an integrated GPU. Occasionally on my laptop the integrated GPU will try to run games.

If that doesn't work and your drivers are updated try lowering the resolution.
