I solved the Resident Evil problem by getting a used Gamecube for $30. Now I have all 6 of the Resident Evil games. The great thing about the Gamecube versions (except RE Zero and RE4) is that you can use the Type C control configuration, where you move forward by holding down the R trigger, which makes maneuverability MUCH easier. I also got the Gamecube so I could have Eternal Darkness, which is still one of my favorite games of all time.
Now, the only thing I need from the Playstation Store is the original Silent Hill. I went to look for one on Amazon, but the used copies start at $50, which is ridiculous.
I have Windows XP home edition with service pack 2. I don't know about the memory thing. I ordered the computer from the Dell website, so they built it. It's a Demension XPS-410.
I'm starting to have problems with several of my games. Now, Splinter Cell Caos Theory won't run anymore. After it goes through the disk check, it gives me a error message saying that SplinterCell3.exe may have been changed, corrupt, or has a virus. This is impossible. I haven't modified any of the files in any way. I even reinstalled it from the disk, and I get the same thing. Also, Return to Castle Wolfenstein won't run anymore. When I uninstalled that one and tried to reinstall it again, I got a message saying the game is still on my computer, even though I uninstalled it and deleted all the files. I also can't play Red Faction anymore. The screen just looks like a garbled mess.
This is the one thing that sucks about PC games. They just decide to stop working for no reason at all. Yet, they are awesome because you can modify them to cheat. I wish there was some way that Pelican could make a functioning Codebreaker for the PS3. They could make it where it would automatically be disabled if you are playing online so that the online people wouldn't have a fit.
One more thing. I also have a 1440 x 900 widescreen monitor. How do you keep games that are 4:3 from being stretched on the monitor? When I go to the menu on my monitor, the 'Positioning' menu won't highlight, so I can't get into it. There is no option to switch between 16:9 and 4:3. I'm asking because most of my older games only support 1024x768.
I downloaded and installed the demo for GRID. When I click on the icon to start the game, nothing ever happens. The game never opens. I tried clicking on the executable file in the game folder instead of the icon, but it's the same thing. I even created a launch analysis file and sent it to tech support, and they told me that they couldn't find any compatibility problems.
I was thinking about getting GRID on the PC because it won the head-to-head on IGN in all catagories and I want to try the demo. If I'm having this problem with the demo, will the full retail version do the same thing?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
