Darrogamer06 Blog

I am officially nuts!

And I don't even have the console to play it on. But when I see one at a good price and one without the Mega Drive, I will get it but not now. Metallix FTW! (He is known as Metal Sonic but he was also known as Metallix, which I think is cooler).

Darro's Gamespot Memories

[video=JiNhwmSq5bwLvzPX]

This my response to the videos that Talor (The Wesker) and Mike (Eightbitwarrior) put up talking about their memories here on Gamespot. Here I talk about my video blog beginnings, the experiences and friendships I have and more. So sit back and enjoy.

Mega Drive Goodness!

Hello folks. First of all, I actually didn't test out to see if my Mega Drive was working yesterday like I said I was going to do during the video blog. But I did so today and the good news was that it was working perfectly fine.

Also, another surprise came onto me today as well, as I found Sonic & Knuckles underneath all the SNES and N64 games I got and to tell you the truth, it isn't mine but my neighbour Jamie's who gave it to me a while ago when I got that Mega Drive. I also have Toy Story as well so thus far I have 6 Mega Drive games (The Disney collection has two you know) although two of them ain't officially mine but you can say they are mine now since he never said anything about them. Since I got Sonic & Knuckles, I went ahead and got Sonic 3 on ebay so I can play my favourite Sonic game, which is the combination of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. But you can say I am silly since I already own two versions of those games. Sonic Jam, which is the first four Sonic games and the Sonic & Knuckles collection on the PC but you can say nothing beats the original platform right?

Anyway, since my Mega Drive was working, I stuck in the good ol' Rocket Knight Adventures and played through it on Hard Mode. I remembered why I love this game and even though I died numerous times (its been a long time since I played it), its a great game nonetheless that provides that good level of challenge if you never played it before or haven't played it in years like myself. I will be checking out The Disney Collection game later this weekend and playing through Sonic 3 & Knuckles when I get Sonic 3 next week. Hyper Sonic FTW!

Also, still the highest bidder for the Castlevania game but something tells me I will not be soon or I will get outbid in like the last 30 seconds or so. Also, I actually might just ask for money on my birthday in April and just get some ol retro games and systems (wanna get a NES and a Master System) instead of some of the new stuff since the only games I really want that will probably be out by then are GTA IV and Rock Band (hopefully) and perhaps Brawl if I'm lucky.

Anyway, that is all I wanted to say and congrats to my good friend here on GS, Denis aka D-BOY aka NeoJedi who today will have his 100th video blog up and probably won't be a lot of big things but will be good nonetheless. Until then, take care and keep on gaming!

Just a Vblog!

[video=JSNikTCo5bwLuTDW]

Just decided to do a simple blog where I talk about my new purchases and my first impressions with Lost Odyssey, which if you don't have the time now, one word: enjoyable. So sit back and enjoy.

The Odyssey Begins!

It sure does! I had a feeling it would come today and I was spot on! Impressions of it will come sometime this week.

Also thanks to everyone who replied in my Oh Release Date blog yesterday.

UPDATE: Played about 3 hours of it and thus far I am quite liking it. Will give you more details of course soon.

Oh Release Dates, Where Art Thou?

Hello guys. Today is going to be a different kind of blog because I actually have a topic to talk about and it is about release dates mainly towards two games I am looking to get that have not got release dates as of today over here.

First of all is Rock Band. Rock Band has been out in the USA coming 3 months now and I just find it absolutely ridiculous that the game still hasn't got an official release date here while the Americans and that are all rocking away at it while we Europeans and elsewhere have to resort to Guitar Hero for the time being (unless you imported the PS3 version). Canada though didn't get the game until a month afterwards and I believe that they still haven't got the bundle for it, as far as I know. Now if the game had an actual release date, I wouldn't be complaining about it but the fact that the game is already out in the States and no news on when it is coming out here, pricing, bundles etc has come out since boggles the mind. People have been suggesting though that it is coming out in March but if that were the case then the online retailers would have the game displayed and the date but they don't have a display page for it at all like GAME and Gameplay. Others though like HMV and Amazon have dates in March. I hope that is the case and that I can finally get a chance to play this game.

The second game is Super Smash Bros Brawl. It is currently out in Japan of course and will be in the States in less than a month although it would have been out now if it didn't get delayed again. But once again, us Europeans still do not have an official release date and some signs are pointing towards a summer release because of it not showing up in Nintendo Europe's schedule for the first quarter etc. It has the display pages on the retailers online but they are all different dates therefore it goes to show that the game doesn't have a confirmed date for Europe. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it were during the Summer or after since we tend to get shunned by Nintendo Europe in terms of release dates (Trauma Centre: Second Opinion & Super Paper Mario coming here months after they were released elsewhere). I know there is the whole conversion to PAL and the translation jobs etc but that should not take nearly 9 months, which was the span between the US release date and the European release date of Trauma Centre for the Wii. Sales, popularity and marketing might be benefactors though as well.

Europeans and Australians and other parts tend to get the short end of the stick when it comes to release dates, as certain games come out months after they were out in the US and Japan. An example is Persona 3, which is only coming out here now at the end of the month after being out in the US for 6 months or so. Some games perhaps that come out in the US tend to do better in Europe afterwards therefore it should show the people in charge of release dates and that that Europe cares about gaming as much as the US do. Sometimes games that have a release date in Europe while already out in the US tend to get delayed for certain reasons and put back more months tend to upset a few people and when it eventually comes out, some big games might be out the same week therefore that game is left in the shadows and therefore sells less because of people forgetting about it and getting these big games and lack of marketing as well.

Now we do tend to get a few games before the US though but it usually tends to be a few days or a few weeks before the US get it although on certain occasions (Zelda: The Minish Cap & Pursuit Force) we get it a few months before they do. It would be nice though that we get release dates announced around the time games are released elsewhere and not months afterwards but that is the whole game and marketing business for you.

Anyway, that is the end of my so-called rant you may say and hopefully I do not have to wait much longer on these two games but I believe I will on the latter because of the reasons I said above. Let me know what your thoughts are in this whole situation and if you agree or disagree with what I said. Until next time, take care!

Darro's Dominion Episode XV

[video=I31lkDat5bwKszXa]

Hello once again. Darro here with another episode of Darro's Dominion, which while longer than the previous one still ain't a 20+ min death blog. Anyway, inside I talk about the problems I had recording Darro's Delights, selling two PC games (if interested, PM me) and Lost Odyssey.

So leave comments, questions (most unlikely) and whatever else comes to your minds. Until then, take care.

Toodles!

UPDATE: Just to let you know that the games have been sold on ebay therefore do not bother sending any PMs my way now.

Another Impulse Buy?

To my surprise, I found out today that the game above me is compatible with PAL Xbox 360 systems as well as of course the Japanese one and being the ol' sort of impulse buyer, I got it on ebay. It is the version which enables you to use English language as well as the original Japanese and of course it was cheaper than it will be when it hits stores here at the end of the month. I was looking forward to this game anyway since it has that FFX feel to it, which is no bad thing since FFX is a great game. IGN AU gave the game a 8 therefore it should be pretty good anyway but again most of the time, I get a game because it interests me and not because of what it gets in the review department.

Hopefully I will get this by the weekend and share my first impressions with it soon after. Its 4 discs long so heck, I have a lot of gaming to do. I think it will be better than the last Mistwalker game, Blue Dragon. Heck its instantly better in my eyes if the game has a story (which I believe it has) and a good level of challenge (two things Blue Dragon most certainly did not have if you're excluding the Hard mode dlc).

Since I am here, I might as well talk about Burnout Paradise. I didn't like the demo that much, which a lot of people felt the same but the full game is a different story and man is it fun. The graphics are just amazing to look at and the crashes never get old with the shards of metal and glass going everywhere etc. One part I really enjoyed was the challenges you do while you are online and done all the 2 player challenges and a few 4-player ones with help from Nate (frogsoblivion21), Denis (NeoJedi) and Stephanie (princesszelda). I really like the city itself and just reminds me of San Andreas in a way probably because of the city and the countryside stuff within. I will like to get all the challenges done so if you want to help me with the 3 player and onward challenges, hit me up.

Until next time, take care and keep on gaming!

The Return is delayed!

You may have been expecting the return episode of Darro's Delights. Well, that ain't going to happen for now at least. It is not because I can't be bothered, far from it.

Its because of stupid problems involving slowdown and whatnot. I started recording footage while about to narrate as well and what happens? Well, the gamebridge application stutters hence the audio is all over the place and gargly if that's even a word and the computer wouldn't respond and hence had to shut it off the ol' hold the off button down way. I have been trying to start it for the past hour or so and slowdown happens when I have Windows Movie Maker on (which is just the biggest piece of crap ever) and other crap. I hardly have any other applications going except for Norton, which could be the case.

So once again, I have to break all of your hearts for the time being. I will try again tomorrow or sometime during the week anyway to see if I can sort this problem out. Any of you have any solutions to this problem? Let me know in the comments.

Toodles.

PS. I have recently defragmented my drive and also rebooted several times.

And the Darro's Delights return episode game is...

Good afternoon, morning or evening depending on what time you read this. It is I once again here to bring you some sort of random blog or whatnot.

Anyway, since no one else voted for a game by last night, 4 games were tied at 3 votes each therefore as I said in yesterday's blog, I will have to decide between the ones that are tied. The game I have decided to feature in the return episode of Darro's Delights (coming your way tomorrow) is the game that was intended to be in episode 19 a while ago. And that game is:

I still think this edition is the best in the series because it was the one that made the major jump from the previous games. It had the new grapple and submission system, you were able to damage different body parts and it will show in the new damage system and had a great array of match types. The season mode was fun to do in it and its miles better than the crap 24/7 mode in the latest edition (I honestly didn't mind the Season mode before it changed).

Do not worry for whoever voted for Oblivion, Super Metroid, Smash Bros Melee and Bubble Bobble. Those games will be featured in upcoming episodes of Darro's Delight but for now, its Smackdown. Until then, take care and keep on gaming and rocking!
