Speed Run and Updates!

Hey guys, what's up.  Its your favourite Irish blogger (probably not) Darrogamer06 here once again with an update on my gaming life.

Before I get into that, playing Super Castlevania IV last Thursday for Darro's Delights reminded me why that game is so great and also got me thinking of doing a speed run for it.  Sure I could do a speed run for say a Super Mario Bros game but I'd rather do it on a game that is maybe not necessarily famous for speed runs or whatever.  I am not going to try to break the record or whatever because if I focused on that, I would fail miserably anyway so I am just going to do the best I can.  Hopefully that is good enough for you guys and look out for that within the next few weeks, as I plan to do the Oblivion video review, DD Episode 3 and my usual video blog this week.

Anyway, with that out of the way, what has been going on.  Well, I have been getting back into Okami and realised how stupid I am for rejecting that game for several weeks but now I am playing it once again and absolutely loving it. It is just really a fun game by all means and sure it ain't the hardest game in the world but the difficulty is just about right for what I have played thus far.  I have played it for nearly 22 hours and I am at Sei-an City(after beating Blight) just going around doing little jobs/side-missions in a way before I progress on further on with the main quest.  As far as I know, I am about halfway through the game so I am possibly going to go around and do other side-quests etc just to extend the time I play this game.  Doing alright with the stray beads at the moment (25 I believe maybe more) but I know there are some I missed but hey, I can go back and get them.

I still adore the graphics in this game and the gameplay and yes, I did say it before, it is like Zelda but has its own unique qualities that basically separate it from being a so-called Zelda-clone and you gotta hand it to Clover Studios for that.

Played a bit of the Hidden with Slunks, Kenshin and Wesker yesterday also and that game is fun but it annoyed me that they wouldn't really stay on the one server too long and basically I gave up after that.  Good game though and like to play more in the future.

Haven't touched WOW in several days so maybe get back into that since it is a waste paying £9 a month on it only not to actually play it at all.

That is all for now, stay tuned for Darro's Delights Episode 3 tomorrow and probably the Oblivion Video Review to follow that on Friday then the video blog on Saturday.  So until then, keep on gaming and ROCK ON!!!

Oblivion Video Review soon!

Hey guys, I am hoping to do a video review of Oblivion sometime soon since it was my GOTY 2006 and gave it a great score.  So look for that as well as Darro's Delights Episode 3 this week.

As far as how the Oblivion video review will go like, I am going to play about 10-20 mins of it and basically explain all its mechanics and story while playing it.  Like what I do when playing games on Darro's Delights but hopefully a bit more professional.

So hope it all goes well and yes the quality won't necessarily be great but hope it is good enough for you.  So until then, keep on gaming and ROCK ON!!

Gears-a-thon!

Hello and welcome to another random text blog by yours truly.

Well, as far as my weekend blast II goes, thus far things are going good for that since yesterday I had a great time playing Gears of War co-op with Art (capin131) on Insane and I basically sucked badly and that came over to when we played multiplayer with Denis (NeoJedi), Rich (zzzxx), his buddy Ryan, Andy (AndyWilliams24), Mike (EightBitWarrior) and Messier75 and Hamster Breath (Xbox Live Username).

Yesterday clearly wasn't my day with Gears of War though because even though I had a great time, I just really was quite crap as I only won 2 matches I think with the team I was with (we switched teams around every couple of matches etc) so clearly I was the worst of the bunch but I did get some nice kills though.  I was really a pain also since I just kept ranting about getting killed easily by the shotgun (I don't care what you guys say, shotgun is too powerful in Gears) and other things but mostly about that.  But I got better when I got a bit calmer so hopefully if we plan to play later today again, I will stay calm and hopefully improve.

Also, I have to give a special mention to Art for his awesome killing spree he had in one of the rounds of a certain match (it was the Fuel Depot map).  He was the only one left of our team and the other team was intact and he got three of them and then it was between him and Mike and Mike got him down but since this was execution or for some reason, Mike used the Hammer of Dawn but it didn't wotk and then Art got back up and the fight continued.  After that, they both got each other and they were both down but fortunately, Art got up first and curb-stomped Mike's ass.  He was really good yesterday and was better than me on both co-op and multiplayer.

Denis is good at the game also considering he only got back into the multiplayer a few weeks ago but still he is better than me but hey, its all about fun and we certainly had that last night.

I hope to play The Hidden and possibly some co-op Gears with my good friend Denis today so if any of you are up for that, let me know.  Until then, take care, keep on gaming and ROCK ON!!

Back to normal

[video=I30xlGH95bkIvzTa]

Hello, fellow Gamespotters.  It is Darrogamer06 here once again with a video blog and it is back to normal in a way since I have gone back to my roots of doing LONG video blogs.  They were shorter than usual the last few weeks but bang not this time.

So what is in this long edition?  Well I talk about my new purchase through the Steam system, more gaming with GS buddies and how OTS kind of sucked.  Also questions on dream matches, World of Warcraft and more.

So enjoy, leave comments and questions and ROCK ON!!

Darro's Delights Episode 2

[video=IyczljCs5bkIujDa]

Hello fellow Gamespotters, it is I once again, Darrogamer06 bringing you the 2nd episode of my weekly feature, Darro's Delights.

This episode features a game that was in my top ten games video, a game that is part of a long running series and the first one to be apart of the Super Nintendo.  Yes, ladies and gentleman, it is the one and only Super Castlevania IV.  Gameplay footage included although not great but its watchable.

Enjoy and leave questions for my weekend blog please.  Until then, keep on gaming and ROCK ON!!

Oblivion gets even bigger!

Yes, I found out today that Bethesda is set to release its first true expansion for my personal GOTY 2006, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.  For more information click on the link below:

Shivering Isles Preview

The great thing is about this is that it will feature a new land to explore outside the world of Cyrodiil and Oblivion itself and judging by the video, it looks really cool indeed.  Known as The Shivering Isles, this expansion pack promises us a new questline lasting around 30 hours or so, new characters, lands, quest etc.  Also, they are going to be adding 10 more achievements adding up to 250 points meaning it will be one of the first games to use Microsoft's new achievement system.

This is a great reason for me to get back into the world of Oblivion and to play this expansion but what price is it going to be and also, since it is only available by download, that will mean I have to download a gig file and I stated in my last video blog, I won't do it but hey its worth it because it was my game of the year and love it.

Anyway, that is all I wanted to say and see you guys later.

Insane is no more!

Yes, I am proud to say I have completed Insane mode in Gears of War.  Even though I didn't do it on my own I have the following people to thank for helping me through it:

Andy (AndyWilliams) Act 1-2 to Act 4-1
The_Muse Act 4-1 to Act 4-5
James (Jimb0) Act 4-6 to Act 5-3 (before RAAM)

Needless to say, I did a few parts on my own though. I did the mine-cart bit on my own, the spilt-up part in the mines on my own and going down to the basement etc.  As long as I did Insane no matter what, I am happy either way.

I got the last COG tag also and it was the one at the end of the first part in the open area where you had to go up the staircase and to the left so I have completed Insane and got all the COG tags.

But still, if any of my GS buddies need help going through any act on Insane, I will step up to the challenge.

Insane In The Brain!

If you know your music, then you should know that my blog title is the title of a certain song by a certain band that guest-starred in the Simpsons.

But what I am here to talk about today is once again Gears of War and its quite annoying Insane mode.  I played co-op yesterday for a good 4-5 hours, first with Andy (AndyWilliams24) and with The_Muse (Don't know his real name but his gamertag is Death by Milk).  And I am glad that I am almost through with insane mode because some parts are just annoying as hell (especially with them dreaded lambent wretches).

While I was with Andy, we played from around the 3rd third of Act 2 to the start of Act 4 then took a little break.  Unfortunately, two parts I kind of had to do on my own because needless to say, Andy kept getting killed in these parts (they were spilt-up parts, which I hate) but I got killed a lot of times in the process also so it wasn't all bad for Andy and we did a good job getting through the Acts.

Then played from start of act 4 to around the last quarter of it with The_Muse and (sorry Andy) but he was very good as he saved my butt a few times and got through some of the more annoying bits in Act 4 in just a few turns.  Good thing is for me though is I don't need to beat RAAM since I already did that with Dom with another person on Insane a while ago thus just have to get to the train before him and bam, Insane complete.

Also, just need 1 more COG tag to get the complete 30 and I am sure it is in the first Act since there is 12 there because someone told me that. So after that, I have pretty much completed everything there is to do in Gears of War as far as single-player goes.

So that is all I wanted to say.  If any of you guys out there want to get the Don't quit on me Dom achievement, let me know and I am sure I can help you out but after dealing with Insane first. So until then fellow Gamespotters, keep on gaming and ROCK ON!!!

Weekend blast!

Last weekend was one of the most enjoyable experiences I had on my Xbox 360 and it was thanks to my good GS buddies playing Saints Row, Heavy Weapon and Gears of War.

First off, Saints Row.  There is not a weekend that goes by now without playing this game online with the Franchise gang mainly consisting of myself, Denis, Andy, Thorpe, Rich and his friend Ryan and it is a lot of fun with the odd annoying game where you get campers and cheapskates.  Nevertheless, we seem to be getting better though, which as DDP said in his WWE tenure, "That's not a bad thing, that's a good thing!"

Onto Heavy Weapon, where I played 4 player online with Mr James "JIMB0000!!" Logan, Denis once again and Slunks and even though James said in his latest Nerd Aler episode that he went 15 minutes with Denis, Tony (Juradai) and TechRisingX I believe, we lasted 16 mins and 12 seconds so take that.  That game is a lot of fun and really intense when the fire power gets going and all the different bullets flying around reminds me of Ikaruga and Fantavision combined in a way (never played Fantavision though).

And finally, Gears of War.  As Denis said in his latest video blog, playing this with friends is a hell of a lot more enjoyable than playing with total strangers that annoy you sometime saying things like "You guys suck!" and "We totally owned you, n****!" and more.  I played a couple of hours with the usual suspects on Saturday night until 2am and then last night with James and Art etc.  Also, played co-op on Insane with Andy and we are pretty good although that mode is annoying sometimes but we are making good progress.  If anyone wants to help me through Insane, send me a PM on Live and kill some locust, co-op style!  I am at Act 2 at the moment around 2 thirds in I believe.

Also, played a bit of Okami yesterday and going to play more of that over the week and get back into it.  Really want to play Oblivion as well because seeing James online playing it has gotten me to remember how awesome that game is. Also, I need to get the rest of those points in it also.

Hope to play more with the GS crew during this weekend so look forward to that.  Well, that is all I wanted to say.  Darro's Delights Episode 2 will  occur this Thursday with a SNES game, as I said so look forward to that.  Until next time, keep on gaming and ROCK ON!!

Hello, my fellow Gamespotters.  Darrogamer06 with another dose of my video blogs where I go through On The Spot and what great games they had on show, gaming with good buddies from Gamespot and answer some questions.

Sorry for being a beggar of questions at the end but like I said last time I want to answer questions and don't want to resort to begging repeatedly and hopefully I get questions a lot faster this time around than last time.

Thanks and enjoy the show! Until next time, Darrogamer signing out telling you to keep on gaming and to ROCK ON!!
