Don't get me wrong, they are responsible for a good amount of games that I love, but recently, the company collectively has just been ridiculous and borderline pathetic. Players and critics alike aren't really impressed with either of the 2 Xlll games, so it must be because we couldn't make the games better looking and even MORE linear and movie like with the advancements of next gen hardware." I mean, that's what I get from this kind of griping anyways.Not a big fan of the dev perse, but I give the Quantic Dream lead credit for saying that it's not quite time for devs to throw their hands up in terms of creating games this generation.
It's seems like a cool platform with a passion for actually creating games fueling it, so I pledged. Looking forward to playing games on it and possibly learning how to put some together.
@widehead I play it because Dark Souls came out about a year ago, and I've beaten it. Several times. I'll be playing the expansion for it when it drops later this year, and Skyrim will go back on the shelf. See how it works?
@Llama345 Yeah really, the existence of games on demand is a fortress of stupid. Pay $50 for a game that has been $20 at retail stores for a year or better. It's better because it's digital, and not REAL!
@BillyColeman Guess we'll have to wait and see. Leon's mission felt a lot like the direction they went with RE: Revelations, that was really tuned to the classic RE atmosphere and experience. I'm being hopeful for the game, and I personally think the demo shows a lot of versatility and promise.
@Deadly_Nemesis I agree with your assessments of 4 and 5. 4 was an A+ evolution for the franchise, and 5 came off as somewhat diluted. A lot of stuff is up in the air with part 6, but I think the demo shows promise for the final product since it seems the game will run the gambit of all the various flavors RE has been associated with. If it sucks, I will certainly be the first one to bitch, but I'm being optimistic.
@BillyColeman If you liked RE4, you basically are acceptable of the newer direction the series has gone to. With that in mind, what makes the gameplay in RE6 seem SO off the mark in your opinion? Also, I'm assuming you aren't a ten year old who has a week's worth of nightmares from reading a Goosebumps book, so exactly what kind of scares are you expecting? Leon's mission showcased a lot of classic "SURPRISE, HOLY SH!T!" effects. I wasn't really scared perse either, but I appreciated the inclusion of those effects.
@BillyColeman It could use some polish, but it's still a few months away.
Having the different characters and perspectives seems to be an interesting route though, and in Leon's mission there is a great amount of tension and classic RE scares. The demo lead me to believe that this RE has the potential to being a happy medium between the newer action based horror the series has gone to, and the classic atmospheric horror the old ones worked with.
