You are talking about last gen and ignoring recent events all together. The 360 has a killer app that isn't Halo, and sales are fine. Wait until the PS3 catches up to the 360 and then talk crap.

Hey don't forget to inlcude the value of that included HDMI cable into your calculations. Doesn't Sony charge $60 for theirs?
And I know it's been said, but you don't have to buy wifi if you don't need it, and many of us have no need for an HD-DVD add-on. Including those as a must have to play games is silly. If you are trying to say the PS3 is a good value, because it has a Blu-ray player in it, then do so, but that's a whole other type of arguement than saying the Elite is overpriced.
Yeah, I agree $180 is too high. Especially when you consider the elite goes for only $80 more than the premium 360 and it includes an HDMI cable. It's almost tempting to just sell back the premium system and buy an elite one. I would only have to sell my premium for $300 to break even on the difference. Something to think about.
Isn't it odd that the place where the PS3 is the most expensive (The UK) it's selling the best?
Perhaps what Sony needs to increase sales in the USA and elsewhere is to increase the price.
[QUOTE="EricForeman"][QUOTE="Javy03"][QUOTE="EricForeman"][QUOTE="gsx1100"]This new 360 all but confirms that the 360 was a rushed console, and still no WiFi or maybe they saving that for the next version of the 360.
Less than 18 months on the market and they doing a do over:lol:
Here's a quote from MS when they were pushed by IGN over why the HD DVDV add on didn't have any HDMI ports.
We [Microsoft Corporation] do not see the absence of HDMI/HDCP as an issue over the lifetime of this generation of [the X360] console. HDMI/HDCP is still a very new interface and until it is supported broadly across the CE and PC industries and by consumers on a wide enough scale to be considered a standard, we don't expect anyone to impede content flow over non-HDMI devices (re: invoke the ICT).
OMG teh lies!!

So when Sony upgraded the PS to the PS One and the PS2 with a PS2 second edition, they were guilty of the same thing. Who cares, no one is forcing anyone to upgrade. It's nice to have options. This release is a good thing. I for one am looking forward to the possiblity of a larger hard drive.
5 years as opposed to 1 year and some change for an upgraded console.....hardly the same thing.
You are right, it's not exactly the same thing, but it's close enough. What's better though? Giving the general population more choices sooner in the life cycle, or waiting until most people that want the console already have it and then releasing a new version just to drum up more sales?
Dude, doing a do-over on your system after a year and some change with some features that MS assured were unnecessary because now they feel they need it is not giving the consumer a choice. What about the 10 million fanbase it has. That is called milking and trying to play catchup. The truth is good or bad they just proved that PS3 had the right idea and after bashing them for months now they are slowly evolving their console to mimic it. They are close in price, featrues are similiar (with more milking of add ons). People say choices like its a good thing, its not. Whats good is getting as much standard. You can call microtransactions a choice but when you have games charging you for extra characters or difficulty levels are you still gonna say its good to have a choice or wouldnt it be better to have it all standard. Choices lead to confusion and microtransactions, i prefer getting as much as I can standard and have certain things choice, like how people can chose to upgrade the PS3 Hdd with any standard 2.5 HDD. That is a true choice.Having a choice that saves money is good. Having a choice for HDMI, if I feel like spending the money is good too. Having choices IS a good thing. An HD movie player is cool, but not forcing me to pay for it if I don't want it, is a GREAT thing. $600 and then the right to spend another $100 upgrading the hard drive hardly seems like the right choice to me. And slamming paid for downloadable content is rediculous. This content wouldn't exist, if they couldn't sell it. It's existence doesn't force you to buy it. It again, is a good thing. You are never going to be able to prove otherwise.

[QUOTE="SemiMaster"]Not the same situation. The point is now the Elite is gonna be the standard 360 purchased as opposed to the premium. MS didnt spend money on an HDMI port and 120gb HDD so the premium could still outsell it, they will push and sell the Elite and gamers will chose it over the premium screwing the early adapters. MS also critiziced Sony for its pricing yet now they have priced themselves in a similiar bracket with only an HDMI port and a larger hdd as the perk as opposed to the HDMI port, free online and blu ray capability of a PS3 20gb at around the same price. It just mainly very hypocritical for the 360 to push this new expensive version containing features the PS3 had and Microsoft criticized. Just like its very hypocritical that all the MS fanboys criticized the PS3s price yet now jump at the chance to spend almost the same amount for no true significant features. So should I stop buying games for my 360 now since there is a new model out?
Maybe I shouldn't get gas for my car because there are new models?
Javy03
Hmmmm.... 120GB = 6X 20GB. It seems the Xbox 360 Elite is far beyond the value of the PS3's similarly priced model.

Many people were convinced the European launch delay would allow Sony to get its act together and have some great games available for launch. Obviously, Europeans in general aren't excited by what Sony has been able to produce so far.
I certainly don't think the PS3 is dead, but either the games start coming soon, or people are going to lose interest. How long is Sony going to keep us waiting?
35 and my first system was a home pong system. There were all kinds of different pong systems, all of them lame. Ours got maybe 4 hours of game time before we all hated it enough we never hooked it back to the TV again. The next system we had was a Video Brain. It was much more fun, but completely lame compared to Atari, which came out later.
