Come on man, you cant really blame MS for this. I mean I always knew that developers could use the cloud as a backdoor to DRM, like the same way Diablo 3 and Sim City "needed" to contact EA servers to function. But posting this up is like saying "Hey guys, apparently u cant play Microsoft online games without internet! MS is bringing back DRM!!!!"http://news.softpedia.com/news/Xbox-One-Games-with-Cloud-Features-Still-Need-Constant-Online-Connection-362160.shtml

Microsoft has revealed a few more details about its recent and quite drastic change of policies regarding used games and Internet connection for the Xbox One, confirming that games which take advantage of the cloud service will still need to be permanently online.
Looks like single player games still require a constant internet connection, and we all know MS is gonna push for all games to use the "power of the cloud".Cloud = The new DRM

[QUOTE="II_Seraphim_II"]Anyone know how the game chooses hosts? Cause i really dont think it picks the person with the best connection loljohny300No idea but I hate when host leaves and effects everyone, I lost survivors and people got sick and hungry because of that bitch, my poor little blue dots got sick lol. What i hate is sometimes im made host, and im in africa so my net is crappy and I feel bad lol
[QUOTE="II_Seraphim_II"][QUOTE="Jandurin"] this is so dumb if you really fear this then you have to accept that sony could do this just as easily neither one will do itJandurin
Dude, Im not saying that they will go 100% back to the way they were. I'm talking about making small strides to go back to their old ways. They wont just come out flat and say "yup, online connection required! yup, DRM in play!", but that doesnt mean they cant do small things to push towards that direction. It was clear from the beginning that MS put DRM and online connectivity as its prime objectives in the future of the Xbox. That's was their key and central vision behind the X1 (and kinect too). So I'm sure they didnt just scrap a business plan they've spent close to a decade discussing and formulating. They just realize that now isn't the time, so it's fair to assume, that they could try and test the waters slowly as time goes on.
As for Sony doing it, you are the one that is sounding retarded right now. There is a MAJOR and drastic difference in Sony coming into this gen than MS coming into this gen. Sony has made it a clear point from the beginning that DRM is not in their game plan. There has never been any doubt about that. MS made it a clear point that DRM was a significant part of their game plan, and I assume they had already spent a significant amount of money implementing the infrastructure necessary to ensure it functions. For instance, the resale deal they had with companies like gamespot. You think all that happened for free? or that they put some serious money into organizing all of this?
No company likes wasting money. All the money they spent on organizing the infrastructure for DRM, the whole mechanism they had in place for how used game sales would go, they may not use it, but im sure they will try and salvage what they can.
"the infrastructure for the DRM" has nothing to do with the xbox and everything to do with those server farms they purchased Yes, and Im sure DRM was part of the reason they needed those server farms, was it not? Also, there is software that had to made to ensure all of this works off without a hitch and with the appropriate security measures are in place. In short, it cost MS money, and no company like losing money. And considering the amount of emphasis that was place on the DRM structure, its safe to say MS had spent at least a decent chunk of money to their DRM plans. So I doubt they will just throw it all in the trash and walk away from it. They will try and see what they can salvage and what users are willing to deal with. Its obvious (and MS has already stated it on multiple interviews) that the original X1 policies were how MS viewed the Xbox future. It was a key concept to their evolution of the Xbox brand, in fact the whole MS entertainment brand. I doubt they are gonna just scrap that. They believed that people would be ok with losing ownersih of their products so long as it eased accessibility. Highly doubt such a central and key concept to their entertainment industry is just gonna be thrown out the window for good. The only thing that's changed is that MS has realized the way they approached the situation was wrong.[QUOTE="II_Seraphim_II"]My question is whats going on with the launch areas of the X1? I presume they kept it to a small segment of the world due to the complexity of always online, and resale of games, and all that jazz. But now that those policies are gone, are they gonna roll out more consoles for the neglected regions or will those regions have to wait a year like asia?MFDOOM1983They can't produce enough consoles for a proper worldwide release. At least, that's my guess. Well thats too bad. This could hurt them in the long run, cause If my only choice is a PS4, and I buy one...the chances of me picking up an X1 later on are slim. They could potentially lose a pretty decent chunk of customers.
