So this is their answer to Sony's "We have 40+ games to show at E3" Come one M$, you just don't have what it takes to keep up with Sony on the games front. Stop being such a sore looser about it, and go get that TV market. :)
So they are positioning their X1 to be a services console, while still trying to "Woo" the core gamer for the initial launch. Trying to capitalize on all the dumb FPS fans that make up M$ gaming fanbase. ....If anyone is actually dumb enough to purchase the X1 as a gaming console, they deserve the disappointment and frustration they got coming to them. MS's intentions are sooo transparent it's a joke.
@Unfallen_Satan They basically did that. That's why the architecture of the PSvita is so similar to the PS4's. They had this planned from the start. They are just mandating it to devs. It's just like trophy support. It's inherently "able to be done" just being mandated to do it, is what your "Boss" (Sony in this case) can choose to do. And good thing they did.
@Acardorin @JJames3dCG @sladakrobot You can join Slacknob there back in the 6th grade. To presume you know anything about business, when you claim that neither company has committed to a strategy yet concerning Indie games on their platform, shows a complete lack of common sense, let alone knowledge of business practice. Sony has committed, and proven they're committed to support indies in a way that M$ has not. They devoted a portion of the initial press event for the PS4 exclusively to how they are committed to supporting Indies in complete way. We may not have all the details, but surely even you can see the difference between what Sony is doing and what M$ is doing in the area.
Think about it for a second. Everyone knows how much of the console gaming market has gone to Mobile and the like. The smartest business move either Sony or M$ can make at this point, is to devote themselves to fostering indie relationships on their console. That way, the casual/mobile market that has been lost, can find their home on a console. Then while having that consumer need satiated, when they want a bigger bigger gaming experience, they don't have to go elsewhere...it's already on their console! Sony seems to have grasped this while M$ is too busy trying to snatch the TV market with their games console. Still sticking to their rigid approach to indie devs and handpicking those that get in, while there's a massive barrier to entry otherwise. Wait and watch. Time will tell. Now, you and Snagglerobot go find a forum to discuss topics more to your level of intellect....like DisneyJr.com or something.
Just cause you're burnt about Xbone being a cable box instead of a games console, doesn't mean you have to hate on me. Buy a PS4, you're gaming life will thank you for it.
"There's no way we're not going to support indie.....just we don't have a plan for it at this time. And of course, as expected, we will charge you for it, and the process will be as complicated and costly as possible."
If they really planned on supporting Indie devs the way the deserve to be supported, they would have laid that plan out in their press event, like Sony did....but they didn't. Because they don't really care for indie's as a whole, just whichever company/game they deem worthy of their support/attention. Can't wait to see M$ and xbone to fall on their face this gen.
PLEASE: If you feel as raw about M$ and their new "Game Console" as I do, please please don't support them, and don't buy the box. Also, encourage others to not blindly walk off a cliff with them.
@marcheegsr Usually I'm a "buy anything that plays game" kinda guy. But from this mini MS event, I can honestly say with certainty...that I will NOT be buying the Xbox1. Was hoping for something shocking, got what I expected, multimedia laser focus. Not what I look for when buying my game machines.
