@TohouAsura I work do 3D graphics, and they have very advanced "cell shaders" that they texture with and it makes things look just like anime. Very cool stuff, and I'm sure they have some advances texture nodes and scripts that push the limits of what's possible (compared to the standard, cell shade version)
@Scorpion1813 I agree. A game being "Big" or "Open world" doesn't automatically make the game great. The fact that AC3 sold 12.5 million copies is astounding. It speaks to the reason why they keep releasing one every year. But the mechanics of "assassin's creed" have been tried and worn out with AC. How many people finished AC3? What's YOUR completion percentage? I know I got about a 1/3 or 1/4 the way through and just stopped playing.... That never happened with AC1 or AC2. With AC3 I was having fun, but for some reason...I just didn't really care to continue.
@Kravyn81 I agree with with Green_Scorpion. This guy is out to make himself money, that's it. And to Kravyn81, these guys can make as much or MORE even sometimes, off a company going under or falling apart. So it's not in their best interest to listen to some money hungry investor that wants to split up Sony.
@KommonSinse @JJames3dCG yea you're probably right. I can't possibly know what MS has in store, but from their history, it certainly doesn't interest me as a gamer.
Sounds like the are getting on a train that has already left the station, and looped back around for the 3rd time. Better late than never though I guess.
@johnwck90 @JJames3dCG No I think you make a lot of good points, and I agree. It's certainly going to be an uphill battle for them with this one (not that it hasn't been already!) But with the success that they had with FFXI, and the following that the Final Fantasy name carries (or at least used too anyway) you can't count them out. It's just the cards are stacked against them. Here's hoping they: Utilize the fanbase the FF name carries, Clean up the final version so it's not laggy/frame rate issues/textures, and recapture what made FFXI so enthralling. Judging from your comments as an experienced MMO player/being in the beta....it's not looking good for FFXIV to be a success. As for going up against stiff (MMO) competition, everything out currently is, meh, in my opinion. I played GW2 to 80 and enjoyed it, but it doesn't keep me coming back everyday. Neither Rift nor SWTOR held my attention at all. And if Elder Scrolls Online stumbles as most of the others have, FF might still be able to do well. BUT, that's a lot of situational perfection that FFXIV will be counting ALL going their way to be successful....not a bet I'd wanna be gaming on as SE.
