@samrvdman: The cartridges can hold as much as a BluRay AND they don't need to install to your hard drive, saving a TON of space. They can up the size if necessary, just like they did back in the 90s w N64. Right now they are likely using 32GB carts since that's how big DQH1&2 is. If anything, they are actually superior than BluRays. I've been playing Zelda for over 20 hours and never experience JoyCon issues (small percentage of people are experiencing this issue). The system is underpowered for a console, but it is easily the most powerful handheld system ever made. It's about as powerful as modern iPads but it has ACTUAL BUTTONS so it can play real console style games. Honestly, I would never buy a Nintendo console for its graphical prowess since most Nintendo games are stylized and don't really need vast amounts of power to look stunning (see: Mario Kart 8 and Mario 3D world). Nintendo has always had the weaker console of every generation.
Haven't had a chance to try out anything on WiFi but the demoes I downloaded from a public Wifi connection was about what I would have expected from such a connection. It's Wifi, of course it's not as fast as wired but it still was comparable to a cell phone or tablet. Sure, it gets hot but I played Zelda for 9 hours straight last Saturday and it never crashed or anything so I don't see that as an issue either. Maybe in the long term but that's undetermined as of now. I only bring my Switch with me while commuting and I've never had it die on me if I start the day with a fresh charge. My commute is a little less than 3 hours so it's actually perfect (for me). It's not that much worse than 3DS and Vita which both last about 5-6 hours... My only complaint is that the kickstand is trash but that's only cuz I play on a bus. It just slides and falls over when the bus bounces or turns. I'm gonna get a proper stand and then I'll be set. Waiting on all the upcoming games...
@barcaazul: Remember the Gamecube? They made too many and then they dropped it to $100 to get rid of them. Clearly, they didn't want to risk that happening if the system ended up being another Wii U.
I enjoy my Switch. It's not great right now other than a portable Zelda player with some cool controller options, but Zelda is more than enough for me at the moment. The game is incredibly well-made and I have not been this pleased in a game that went a whole different direction since Metroid Prime. You can tell the Switch was rushed to the shelves, looking at the lack of functions like Virtual Console, streaming/social apps, internet browser (bring back Safari), and online community, but that will be added through periodic system updates for sure. In 6-12 months, this will be a more realized system. Does anyone need one right now? Only if you want Zelda and you don't already own a Wii U. There's very little else that is worth buying it for. Did I mention Zelda is awesome??
@DocDelicious: it was designed with high specs and downgraded to run on PS2. It had big sprawling environments that begged for extended draw distance, anistropic filtering, and FSAA. Its basically what Rockstar did with GTAV but it took SE almost 10 years to decide to do it.
@SinisterSlay: what WRPG had costomizabke AI that lets you program the trigger and effect to that degree? Games still rarely ever give you that much power to customize.
