@blackamerica: Emulating PS2 games is easy. They got the PS3 to do it. Why wouldn't the PS4 be able to? The PS4 can't emulate the PS3 because of it's strange cell processor architecture. Go look on the internet and try to find a good Sega Saturn emulator. Unless they have made a breakthrough in the past 5 years, it's pretty much a lost cause. The Saturn also used an extremely unusual architecture.
@Raged4Life: Some games ran at 60FPS like the God of War games but yes, none played at 1080p. You could run Gran Turismo 4 and God of War II upscaled to 720p though!
@evilishies: You can always do PS Now. If you buy the 3 month sub, it comes out to $15/month. That's not quite highway robbery but it's better than buying a PS3. They have a few hundred games on the service now.
@Dragerdeifrit: That's a reasonable price considering a lot of PS2 games are becoming scarse and prices are going up. Try finding a copy of Dark Cloud 2 for $10. Go ahead. I'll wait.
@magthidon: BC will definitely be free but it's uncertain as to whether the discs will play. I can say with a degree of certainty that any previously purchased PS2 classics will transfer over to PS4 tho.
@masonshoemocker: I have the hardest time getting ANY ps2 games to work properly. I mean, it can be done but it's very challenging since every PC is different and has different PCSX2 setting configurations. This will be as easy as pressing start to play.
@Ansem_Rev: They didn't emulate them. They had actual PS1 and 2 components inside the system. One of the many reasons the PS3 was so expensive (and big!).
@4kgamer_lmxxx: Considering the PS2 had a better library than the PS3 or the X360, this is actually a pretty sweet deal. Especially if you can play the discs, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that one.
