Im using a HD 4870, cant remember if I had used the game with this video card before or not. I upgraded afew months back, and put in a new Motherboard, cpu and RAM but they all seem to be working fine. Im only using DX9 anyway, as Iv only got Windows XP.
I tried getting an answer for this in the PC games board, but seems they wernt interested or just didnt know, so hopfully you guys can help.I recently reinstalled BF2, updated it to 1.50, and when I go to run the game it will just reboot my computer. Once the computer is booted up again, I'll get a error Critical system error message from windows asking if I want to send it away. It also tells u that a .dmp file was made for the error, which iv spent hours trying to figure out how the hell to open it. So Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this to reboot my computer? This is the only game that is doing it, so it has to be something involving BF2. And if you cant help me with whats causing this, then maybe you could give me a hand on finding where to look to figure out whats happening, or help me open the .dmp files.
Any sites with some help would be great, and as for reinstalling XP. I havnt had BF2 installed before on this install of XP. I normally format every 6-9 months too keep the computer clean of clutter, so perhaps this has just been a bad install. It may also be I upgraded some hardware since last having the game installed too. So I guess that could be an issue, although I havnt had any problems with any other games since the upgrade, which is why I figured it may be BF2.
Not sure if this is the right board to be asking this, but I recently reinstalled BF2, updated it to 1.50, and when I go to run the game it will just reboot my computer. Has anyone had this problem before or know how I could fix it, or even just find out why its happening?
