So, I recently upgraded my computer and all of a sudden after playing any games on steam Im getting Paged Pool memory warnings and random crashes. My old setup wanst that great: AMD64 3200+, 2GB DDR400, and I thought my new upgrade would be a huge improvment: Phenom II 545, 4GB DDR3 aswell as a new motherboard for the AM3 socket.

So, Im wondering if anyone here would know anything about this paged pool memory issue Im having playing games. Iv updated all of the drivers I can think of, stopped as many background programs as I can find, and let windows manage my paged pool memory which I think its doing about 3-4gb. I was never getting any of this before the upgrade so Its got something to do with the new hardware. I am only running XP 32bit, but thats still letting me use around 3.5gb of the RAM iv got installed which is still more then It used to be.

Would really love it if someone could help my out here, its bugging the hell out of me and making me feel disapointed in my upgrade. :(

So, Im having a hard time deciding on which CPU I should get. Its either aPhenom II 965 3.40Ghz, ora Phenom II X6 1075T 3.0Ghz. There's only a $30 price difference between the two, Would I be better of with the extra cores, or will the x4 perform the basically the same?

Ah, that pretty much sounds the exact same as how my xp copy work now, I just format my HDD with windows and do a fresh install. So with any luck I'll be able to pick up the OEM version without the need of purchasing other hardware with it, if not, I suppose I'll be waiting till I can afford enough hardware to get it pre installed onto.

huge price different, retail is around $300, oem about $140.

I know in the past with this current computer I got it pre-built with an oem version of XP. Iv upgraded everything in the this, other then the case and psu and Im still using the same copy of XP i got. Im just curious if 7 will be any different, as I was certain OEM software wasnt supposed to work with hardware it wasnt originally installed on.

So, Im finnaly making the move from XP to 7, but Im just wondering what the deal is with OEM versions of windows. Im planning on upgrading my Motherboard, cpu, ram and all the rest over the year, but not all at once. Im just wondering if I get a copy of 7 now, install it on my current build, and then do all these upgrade every few months, will I still be able to use it with the new hardware. Reason I ask if because I thought OEM is locked too the hardware its activated on, am I correct?

a lot of those parts seem a bit overpriced, for example you can get a hd 6870 in the 240-260 range if u look for it, likewise that psu is way too much $ if u ask me. do u live in america and what site are u using?

I normally get my stuff from Scroptech.com.au. Im in Australia so the prices are always high here. :P

So, Im working on getting a new PC for Christmas, and so far Im thinking about this:

OS - Windows 7 (Pro/Ult) $175+
(FQC-01197)

MoBo - Asus Crosshair IV Extreme $429

CPU - AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (Black Edition) $309
(HDT90ZFBGRBOX)

Mem - G.Skill F3-17066CL9D-4GBTDS $199
(F3-17066CL9D-4GBTDS)

Video - Asus HD6870 $319
(EAH6870-2DI2S-1GD5)

Case - Antec Lanboyair-red $239

PSU - Thermaltake ToughPower 750W $269
(TPG-750MPCAU)

Im also going to need a new monitor too, but haven't got a clue what I should be looking for. Even so Im thinking of one of these:

ASUS VE278Q or LG W2353V-PF

So, does everything look good? should this last me at least 2 years worth of High setting gaming?

Feel Free too give some sujestions, the tower I have a price limit of $2500AU, and the monitor I thinking around the $500AU mark.
