It's certainly milking it.

But at least the addition for Super were considered worthwhile. Let's see how Arcade Edition fares. I think they're doing it as a paid DLC patch so they are aware that it isn't advisable to charge full price for a game that features just balance tweaks and a few new characters.

They're essentially giving customers a choice on their purchase method. For 15 dollars you can upgrade your copy of Super to Arcade Edition. From my understanding Super will be phased off of store shelves in favor of SSFIV: AE and will be the same price. I own a copy of Super, but will be waiting for the retail edition. I want a copy of the game that will be future proofed if you get my drift.

when it is a fighting game and being sold as a full-price title.

Would you mind telling me whats wrong with a fighting games being full priced?

I fail to see it.

Nothing wrong for a fighting game to be full priced but the I meant the reworked versions like SSFIV,which I beleived retailed at a tad steeper price than it was supposed to be.Especially guys who already had the original.

Um... no. Super Street Fighter IV launched last year at 39.99; a decent price for the changes that were made to the game. Also, later that year Capcom announced SSFIV: Arcade Edition exclusively for arcades in Japan. If you didn't know, AE is a rebalancing of Super with additional characters and was intended initially just for arcades, hence the name Arcade Edition. Of course, console and PC players alike wanted the game so Capcom decided to port it to us. Retail will launch at 39.99 and DLC will be 15 (which is reasonable).

Looks like Capcom heard the PC community and removed some of the DRM. Previously, if you weren't online you were restricted to 15 of the 39 characters for all offline modes. This is great news and I'm now more than willing to purchase the game. Thoughts?

I really don't get you people... A few months ago when AE was announced for the arcade, most of this board was up in arms about Capcom more than likely making ppl buy another disc. Then when I made a thread a week ago confirming it as DLC, many of you said it would probally be 30+ dollars because Capcom rip off their fans. Now we have confirmation that it will be 15 (which is reasonable and what I predicted) and the bashing continues. I mean seriously, your acting like the changes here are very basic. I agree with Ravirr, all you non fighting people calling this bad are crazy.

Yeah, so many reflected back sniper bullets that led to head shots. Oh, and then you could also do fatalities on your opponents. I love all of the Unreal Tournament games (UT3 never happened imo =P), but UC2 was something special. It's a shame that Epic no longer seems to care about that series that got them where they are today...

All I know so far is Evil Ryu, Oni Akuma (or just Oni whatever) and Yin and Yang (twins I believe)

madsnakehhh

I guess this is great, however it should be optional if you want to pay for the characters via DLC, and it shouldn't be forced in the whole package, it should be a free or an extremely cheap patch to fix the balance and add the new features and then sell the characters separately.

I'm pretty sure this is how it is going to be handled. The trailer hints that you can play against people who have the standard version still. PS: His name is Yun =P

So? how much this will cost? $40, sadly i can see this happening.

So we'll get the Arcade Edition and hopefully by the end of this year Continnum Shift 2 too, great, and i hope Arc Systems show Capcom how a DLC must be done since they said it will be either really cheap or maybe even free.

madsnakehhh

You really think they would charge 40 bucks for this? I seriously doubt it.... it will probally be within the 15 to 20 dollar range max.
