LoL you call PS3 and 360 shinier and sharper versions of PS2 and XBOX but isnt the Wii just a GC with a motion sensor controller? Whats so next gen about that? A controller doesnt make something next gen. If thats the case PC will never be next gen since 99 percent of people probly use Keyboard and Mouse and thats old as dirt. Please dont be mad b/c you paid 250 dollars for a 80 dollar Gamecube with a new controller.-=XBoXDemon=-

I'm not mad about buying the Wii. I'm quite happy.

Funny that you should mention PCs, because you rarely have "next gen" arguments about PC games. Why? Well, you just said it: you don't see someone tilting their keyboards and stuff.

In my experience, PC users tend to be a bit older (and more mature) than console gamers, but you've basically proved my point about the PS3 and 360 by pointing out that (using my argument) PCs cannot be next because they keep using a keyboard and mouse. Well, PS3 and 360 keep using dual-analog controllers. Wii is the first console to sucessfully integrate motion-sensing and infared pointing into their controller and make it work for a wide variety of games.

It's not as much of a question of "Which console will fall?" as it is a question of "which game developer will fall?"

Nintendo has its own corner of the market. Sony and MS can't TOUCH it. A friend of mine with the 360 and three kids borrowed my Wii from me because the 360 wasn't family friendly in his opinion. His WIFE - who hates video games - wants to buy the family one for christmas.

Microsoft can pump billions of dollars into the 360 without a second thought, so even if the 360 starts to fail, they can revive it with a large sum of cash. MS won't LET the 360 fall.

Now, Sony is looking a bit haggard right now, but Sony has always been able to pull through. Has anyone been keeping up with PS2 games coming out these past two years? Everyone said that PS2 would die once Halo 2 came out, but Sony has been able to defend the PS2 so far. I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 sales match the 360 next year.

...you know I think its soo cute that sheep think the wii will outdo 360's/Ps3's FPS...just adorable!SpaceDragonMan

Y'know, the dev market used to think JUST like you! It was soooo cute!

Then the Wii sold out all over the world and devs crapped their pants like little babies, trying to play catch up.

Soooooo cute!

@Rosencrantz - VERY well put, and you are absolutely right. At first, I think that MS and Sony, along with a whole host of cynics, thought that the Wii would be a flop, because everyone thought that the Gamecube was a flop (It wasn't a FLOP. It simply sold less than it's competators)

Unfortunately, MS and Sony forgot that Nintendo had a flawless track record before the GC with NES, SNES, and the N64, three systems all in a row that dominated the market, not to mention its DOMINATION of the handheld market.

mcxps3

um ur wrong the only console that nintendo had that dominated the market was the NEs cuz it had no competition. The genesis beaat the snes, the ps1 beat the n64, and of course ps2 destroyed the gamecube.

Wow. Dead wrong. NES had LOTS of competition from LOTS of consoles. Genesis was OWNED by the SNES (which came out after, by the way) and N64 cut a HUGE chunk out of the market before PSOne came along. My guess is that your information is based on what systems your friends had on your street when you were growing up. I never mentioned the Gamecube, f.y.i.

Enjoy the cube on the Wii. The reason why it got a bad rap was because throughout much of it's lifecycle, it was just a fancy SSBM player. It saw greatness toward the end of it's cycle, but by then it was too late :(.

A console with a bad start and a spectacular finish. Enjoy it for what it became :)

I plan to. Any titles worth metioning (briefly; otherwise this will belong in the GC forum)

I've already played Vewtiful Joe, Zelda:WW, and Pikmin 2.

I thought the thread title said "Fallout" and my heart skipped a beat.

OT.

Oh well.

And that's the root of the problem on this board.

[QUOTE="shoeman12"]how is sony doing something different? sixaxis is just a wiimote ripoff so how are they doing something different this time around?DementedDragon

something different from the previous generation, besides blu-ray.

and tilt/motion-sensing is nothing 'new' either.

Technically speaking, "nicer graphics" are nothing new, either.

I guess it all depends on what your idea of "next gen" is...

"Better graphics" seems like a pretty sloppy definition to me.

"Bigger worlds and more immersive gameplay" is a decent definition, but...

"completely changing the way you play games (which is what the Wii-mote has done)" seems like a pretty solid definition of next-gen.

Please, people. PLEASE don't use HD-DVD and other multimedia stuff as an argument for next-gen. If you put a blender, a fog horn, and neon lights on a console, would it be next gen? Those multimedia things have ZERO to do with gameplay...

I would really like to see a hockey game. If MAdden NFL was any indication, there CAN be awesome sports games on the Wii.

The set-up would (ideally) be similar to Wii Golf, holding the wiimote down and using the nunchuck thumbstick to move.

My vote would go to Jet Set Radio Future. As great as it was, not enough people played itD3RV

I second that, JEt Grind Radio for Dreamcast wasn't so bad, either, but then again, the whole system was underrated, IMO.
