@mischiefmeerkat "We glorify war and death and yet when one single person dies for real it's the worst tragedy ever to befall the planet.."

Only if a 'white' person is involved.

@twi41 I know, right. Taking away guns seems like a far more rational solution, except if anyone tried to do that truth would become 'gorier' than fiction! Maybe we have to choose between a thought control censorship state that allows us to carry lethal weapons, or an otherwise free state where we are not.

@Banhammered1 Maybe if the other countries allowed their citizens to have guns the graph would look different. Instead they are all raging on their walls with their fists or something. Take away guns, and let us play games.

@matticles @Mausolus Yes, to clarify I meant gratuitous violence. It has it's place, and I am generally anti-censorship, I just think that some otherwise good games are actually ruined because of it because some game studio exec sat around a table and said 'we need decapitations, those are popular these days' or something to that effect.

This type of marketing rears its ugly head in the industry in other ways too such as the ongoing debate about needing men on box-art to sell more copies of games. It's where economics interferes with art.

I think there is too much violence in video games, but I don't also believe there is any cause and effect between playing violent games and acting out violent behavior.

The reason I say there is too much is that it just seems to be a staple of almost all games these days, and I don't understand why it needs to be. Hollywood movies suffers the same thing. I guess violence, like sex, sells, and there are economic reasons for it. I wouldn't mind if the industry -voluntarily- toned down the violence unless the game is really about violence or wants to make a statement about violence in which case fine leave it in.

@Lhomity @Mausolus The article you linked was Frank Gibeau talking about indie development on mobile/tablet platforms. Nothing to do with the Xbox. There's absolutely nothing in this announcement for EA to like, if they say otherwise they're trying desperately to save face.

This will be an awesome game. I'm a little disappointed it's being released on the current generation of consoles not because I think the game will be bad (I think it will be remembered as the pinnacle of what the old generation can do), but because I was hoping to bin my 360 and this means I have to keep that brick lying around until I've totally played this to death.

I doubt I'll be patient enough to wait for the inevitable PC port that will come about a year later.

Great use of taxpayer money, jailing people like this.
