You're stereotyping. It's not that simple. Take Battlefield 3 for PC for example it has bigger maps and more players versus its console counterpart. That's not even a portion of what PC gaming is capable of either.
Actually you will see a big jump in visuals, but its not just about graphics its about capabilities. The cieling is limitless. The only cieling is your inability to phathom what a more powerful system running on Directx 11 can do.
Do you not know the specs of current consoles? It's not an opinion. It's right there under their plastic cases. Current gen consoles can not run anything higher than Direct X 9 which is a limitation within itself. The reason it took them awhile to figure out how to develop on ps3 is because of the cell broadband processor. It was truthfully a dumb and costly move by Sony. If Sony and Microsoft base their next consoles on a simpler "PC" architecture, than there will be no problem developing for the next gen.
There will definitely be developers who don't make "par for the course" but there will also be developers who take advantage of more recources and new technology and in the end blow everyones mind with what they create.
What rush? There hasn't been an an announcement for the next Xbox or Playstation. This is the the longest generation yet btw. The developers are limited in what they can do with the ps3. Ps3 Ram = 256 mb video card = 256 mb. My laptop from 6 years ago has more recources than that.
