I read somewhere that it would have cost them 2$ to fix that problem. Goes to show how greedy MS really is.

dream431ca

2$ is a lot. 50 Million 360 = 100 Million dollars.

I'd be happy to buy the slim if it cost 2$ more, 10$ even, as long as they were equipped with something against disc-scratching.

Seriously, in every single xbox topic guy shows up bashing MS.. I smell troll... And the disc's getting scratched because you move your xbox is NOT a problem. Same would happen if you moved your computer, or home DVD player, yet for some reason no one complains about that... why? BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW NOT TO MOVE THEM WHILE THEY ARE PLAYING! hehe And seriously, you can come up with better reasons than this to hate on MS... or *GASP* you could go play your PS3..

DO NOT TALK NONSENSE.

I OWN an xbox 360 and I don't HATE on Ms, I just complained about an aspect that I don't like. maybe because I don't worship things just for the hell of it.

and Alan Wake is my favorite game EVER. so, save your lies next time.

[QUOTE="93soccer"]Lay it down on the side and make sure no one touches it :| Not that hard of a concept.

guess what? I do lay it down on the side. I learnt it at my expense! but you know about another easy concept? over a decade ago someone found out that there was a solution against disc scratching and applied it to the products. it seems like that was a good idea, don't you think?

Tha amount of denial in this thread is incredible. All it takes it a small piece of rubbery plastic that barely costs a dollar to fix this problem yet people pretend it's not a big of a deal.

Response 1: "Guys, just lay it on the side. No problem, stop complaining." What? In every freakin' commercial the thing is in a standing position. The thing also looks like it should be positioned in such a way. Another thing is that most owners aren't even on forums so they might not know about this problem until they experience it themselves. Their first reaction will probaly be that there's something wrong with the DVD player, not "Hey, this should get fixed by simply laying it flat.".

Response 2: "Wow, I've never had this problem." Right, that should fix everything. About half the people that have an X360 hasn't had any RROD, so that means it doesn't excist, RIGHT RIGHT!??!?

Seriously people, get real. Denying doesn't make it go away.

PS: Wanna bet someone is going to ask for a link for the price of the plastic? How much does a Rubberband cost, because that's all it takes to fix it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLKbtAGauWg

yes, and that's pretty ironic

the point is not the mere fact of scratching the disc, which is the gamer's fault most of the time, but the fact that in 2010 you still have this issue, there's an article even on Wikipediaabout the problem, but Microsoft still find it irrelevant. But imo it sure is relevant. the way I see it, technology should keep abreast of the times and I do care about this factor when buying a console, I'd not buy a 360 to one of my kids because you can't expect them to be as mature as the adults. And accidents do happen in the house and you find yourself with a scratched disc and with a game to re-buy. and it's very annoying, knowing that we've been having devices that prevent disc-scratching for at least a decade now. I don't buy a cell phone if I know that I have to treat it like a crystal vase because if it falls on the ground it shatters. I can only assume that the company that manufactures the 360's needs to keep up with the times.

that's exactly what I'm referring to

Let's throw a 360 against the wall and make a video on youretube.com and then blame MS. Is that next?

KingTuttle

you're missing the point. I'm simply disappointed by the fact that with the new restyle Ms could fall in such ridiculous thing. they add touch-sensitive buttons, built in wifi, add new ports, make the console consume less energy, run cooler and quiter and then they don't care about a trifle, easy fix like disc scratching? it's just unconceivable for me.

and no, I'm not a "cow", I own a jasper which works well and all, but I feel like babysitting it, always looking after the console in case it tilts or someone comes in the room. because somehow I care for money, you know, and 60 euros are a lot of money for me.

[QUOTE="The_Game21x"] Denial of what? No one's denying that it happens. What people are denying is that this is a big problem, which it isn't. delta3074

what's disgruntling anyways is the fact that a fix would be in the single digits, and that this didn't get considered for a platform relaunch

why should MS waste money on something that isn't a problem for people with common sense that know better than to move there console whilst it's on?

common sense is also equipping your piece of hardware with something that should be the norm by now.

$25 to communicate to people not to move the system when its reading a disk? They call that common sense. It reminds me of this one time when I was at Walmart and this stupid kid in front of me sat down on the bag carousel at the end of the check out lane, when the cashier tried to move it, the kid screamed and then told the cashier they should put a sign saying not to sit there. I was think yes kid and they should also put a sign in the middle of the street not to sit there...

The point is accidents happen, a distracted mother cleaning the home entertainment setup, a pet, a young cousin throwing his ball around. If they weren't so cheap and money hungry they could have made a solid hardware product that people didn't have to treat like a baby made of glass.

yes! that's definitely what I'm saying. it's not like all people are so stupid to fiddle with the console while playing..

I waited so long for the slim and I gotta say they made many improvements over the older models, but they didn't bother taking care of the most annoying thing for me, that is disc scratching. Yes, you may say if you scratch your disc it's only your fault, there's a warning there, but this doesn't justify in no way the fact that they could add some ridiculous bumpers, foam, pads or whatever in order to prevent the disc scratching. I had my bad experience, having little brothers and animals, my 360 tilted a couple of times, reason why I WON'T make it stand vertically ever again, because if it tilts while you're playing you're screwed, literally and you've to shell out other money for the game, just because Ms don't care. they don't care, we've had dvd drives with some kind of protection against disc scratching for over 10 years now, so why Ms, why? are you getting off on this?

the xbox support didn't really answer your question.. and yes, the new Slims still scratch discs if you move the console, there's a big sticker with the warning near the tray.

I really don't get why Microsoft didn't bother adding something that would prevent the scratching, once I got one of my discs scratched because I bumped against the table by accident. that was my fault of course, I made the console tilt ( from that moment on i put it horizontally ) , but this could be avoided simply adding some bumpers in the tray, but they didn't and it's stupid imo.
