[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="Swiftie101"]If you could give me some concrete examples instead of theory, that would be great. However, I still do not understand how it's possible to hook up four mice and four keyboards to one computer and have them work simultaneously.Swiftie101

PES has multiplayer splitscreen. The PC can most definitely support split screen, theres no technical reason it can't and PES is case and point. You can also use gamepads.

A quintessential example of logical fallacy #37, circular reasoning.

Me: There's no technical proof that the PC can do 4 player FPS split screen.

You: Theres no technical proof that the PC can't do 4 player FPS split screen.

Congrajulations, bro!

Also, if you use controllers, is it still considered a PC? I thought all the Hermits were proud of their KB/M combo.

only for FPS's and RTS's , theres no doubt that for games like PES, fighters and hack and slashes the gamepad takes the lead, and yes it is still a pc there are controllers designed for pc's only and you can also hook up the 360 controller on a pc

Very well. I see you guys have cleverly found a way around split screen, which I will accept. However, I would love to see a video of 4 players playing an FPS on the PC with 4 KB/Ms. Also, the game has to have received a rating from either IGN or Gamespot (don't care what the score is) which eliminates the possibility for an expert programmer to create a game just for this purpose.

maybe gears will suport it(even tho i doubt it) i guess we will have to wait and see

here i found some old random free game that does suport it, its too old and the official homepage is down, i also wont download it and i recomend that no one does since it probly sucks but anyway, here is the link

Nice find. I am quite impressed that you manged to dig this up from the deep web. However, the fact that its an "old random free game" kind of ruins what value it has in the argument. For whatever reason, all the legitimate arguments around here always end up being about something completely insignificant. I'm not trying to demean your post, but you have to admit a game like that is pretty negligible. Gears of War, on the other hand....

Anyways, my main point was this:

PCs can not be easily used in a 4 person LAN. For a computer LAN, you (usually) must carry your monitor, PC, and all its accessories whereas for a 4 person console LAN, all you need to carry is yourself and maybe a controller.

nah dont worry i completely agree with you, this game has adds very little value to be a solid argument , it is after all a random and old game,

and yea pc lan is harder but its not that much that harder there are lan houses out there but most of them are too expensive.

there are lots of pc games with 2players split screen suport, tho i cant find much info on 4 players split screen, i belive it can be done, we could use emulators but i think that would be streching it a bit

Consoles can play games for years without upgrades. Sure, you can do that with PCs to, but it only works for so long. I dont think playing with single digit frame rates is really playing. I'd love to see a PC play new games perfectly seven years after the hardware was purchased.Spartan8907

id love to see a p2 running ps3 games... this logic fails

Yes, but this support isn't universal. Without the kind of centralized certification process seen on consoles, there's simply no way to force every developer to support gamepads, and even console licensors can't force developers to add features like splitscreen.

The whole point of console play is that it's simple. Until PC game developers focus on making things simple, from plugging into a TV to hooking up 4 gamepads and crashing on the couch, it's just no substitute.

most of the pc games suport gamepads you just need to configure them to your liking before you start playng, and microsoft is giving a huge suport for gamepads on pc, if you play a game that has suport for 360controller all the tutorials will be presented using the 360 gamepad buttons and configurations, rumble also works just fine.

split screen its just something that really isnt needed on a pc, since its kinda easy to setup a LAN at a friends house, and also its more confortable to eachplayer having his own screen, even tho there are a FEW games that could use splitscreen.

Yes I know its possible to connect the devices, but how can you get them to run with each other simultaneously?Swiftie101

the game assign them to diferent players, its the same as if you were playng with 2 gamepads, you need to assigne which player will use which controller
