The stock dropped because the stock market is rich peoples' version of a Gamespot comment section, they just comment with dumb monetary fluctuation instead of ignorant text.
I think it would be more interesting if they stopped making these from the "rasslin' is real y'all, yee haw" perspective, and started making them more realistic.
For instance, if you're the bad guy, they could give you goals from the match bookers like cheating to piss off the crowd, or not letting the good guy pin you until he's hit all his popular moves to rile up the crowd. It might not matter if the fighting engine isn't great if you're not just trying to win all the time.
It could be similar to the modes in Fire Pro that do this, but where your goals work toward making your character popular or despised instead of just trying to work a particular style of match.
@Gravity_Slave: Obama maybe. I'm sure Hillary would be fair game. Everyone used to make fun of her until Trump made himself the new all-purpose election joke.
I'm sure I'd enjoy it, but it still looks like the kind of horror/exploration game that indie developers sell us for $10 on PC. I'm curious if anything beside the famous name will be there to justify $60.
It's always funny to hear devs and celebrities trying to say something "hasn't been done before" when shilling for their games. I'm sure we'll all be struggling to think of examples of games that tried to be like an interactive movie.
"Hmmm, we've already gotten away with barely remastering every hit game and selling it again. How can we get away with doing it again in the same generation? I know, we'll release a slight remaster of the whole console itself!"
Unless NX's gimmick is as catchy and interesting to casuals as the Wii's motion control was, Nintendo is already screwed for another generation.
The main reason for the Wii U's failure was that their advertising was so terrible that a large portion of casual gamers had no idea what it was. I talked to people in 2015 who still had no idea that Nintendo had another main console after the Wii. After that, all the other problems followed as support for it crumbled.
And again, we're 6 months away from NX and even us nerds who follow gaming know little about it. How the hell is the casual consumer that Nintendo relies on so much supposed to be excited enough to create a user base that developers will want to capitalize on?
