Fallout 3 has a lot of little bugs here and there and I'm not just talking about rad-roaches. Whether or not YOU actually encounter these bugs is really a matter of luck. Not just on the copy of the game you buy but seemingly the copy of the game, your PS3 and whether or not you made a goat sacrifise to Bethesda or not. For example I leant my brother my copy of Fallout 3 GOTY and he encountered a bug where an NPC for a sidequest disappeared so he couldn't finish that quest. Unfortunately it was a BIG quest as far as side quests go.

I never had that problem and it's the same copy of the game. However my game will freeze every time I try and start the Mothership Zeta mission. Others, apparently, do not have this problem. So it's all about how much the world hates you at the time, I guess.

All that said, don't let it turn you off. Fallout 3 is a great game and the bugs are probably the biggest draw back to it and none of them can be called game breaking. I've never come across a bug that stopped me finishing the main story arch and while my game does start PMSing from time to time and freeze, I wouldn't say it happens enough to make the game unplayable.

So give FO3 GOTY a shot. It's a lot of fun and if you say the right prayers under a full moon over a pool of holy water, then you'll be alright!

I don't think a bad port is the problem. It's just not a good game to start with.

Yep, all of the critics across the world are wrong. What was every one of them thinking?

Silly me. I forgot that just because a lot of people say something, that makes it true!

:D That's why Twilight is such a good book. Thanks for reminding me! I'll know better than to have an opinion of my own from now on and just get my thoughts spoon fed to me.

So far my favourite would be Fallout 3. For all the shoddy game making one encounters, it was still engaging, comical and breathed a freshness into the Fallout series. I think bethesda did a good job of it.

There's not a huge library of RPGs on the PS3 - as far as I've noticed. Folklore, Valkyrie Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Oblivion and Demons Age - in addition to Fallout - are the only ones that come to mind and given it's been a few years since the PS3 was released, it's not a huge line up. A couple of them, Demon's Souls and Valkyrie Chronicles to be specific, I would dare to say cross genres a little. I'm eager to see what RPGs are headed our way in the future.

Well when it comes to new titles being released this year, I've got my eye on a few.

- Heavy Rain
- Red Dead Redemption
- DC Universe Online
- Final Fantasy 13
- Castlevania: The Subtitle I Don't Remember

But there's still a big back log of old games I'd like to catch up on. As amazing as it is, I still haven't played Uncharted? I'd also like to get my hands on WET and maybe Valyrie Chronicles... Oh yeah! There was that sequel to the crappy assassin game everyone was talking about for a while. At some point I might try that one.

Bioshock was a great game. Especially when I played it back in 1999 when it was still called System Shock 2. While I'll no doubt play Bioshock 2 and it's one of those few games that makes me to stop and look with interest, it suffers from some drawbacks. 1) It's a sequel. I've got to wonder if we needed a sequel to Bioshock. I've got to wonder if this is an honest effort at continuing the story and expanding on the universe of if this is a production company looking for a lisence to print money. My excitement and interest in a game always falls a bit when there's a number after the title. Tisk tisk. 2) Bioshock really was a reimagining of System Shock 2. While it did some things better, it did some things worse. Now I'm not really complaining because if you take an old game that was great and redo it, chances are it will be great. And it was. But it makes me question just how many tricks this design team have up their sleeves. 3) The lead designer, Ken Levine, isn't actually involved in Bioshock 2. Hmmm...

At the same time System Shock 2 was knocking my socks off, Omikron: The Nomad Soul was doing almost as great a job. I missed out on Farenheit and so I feel it's only proper to give David Cage a chance at knocking me on my ass with video game greatness. After all, I extended that courtesy to Ken Levine. So I'll be getting Heavy Rain first up. Bioshock 2 can wait.

I'm in the PS2 boat. I've got a collection of twenty something games for it. Nothing amazing but I like it. There's still a few I'd like to get.

Struggled on this one for a second. Then I scrolled by one of my own posts and it all became clear.

What? No way! I can't agree with a single thing you just said.

I can't talk to a five year old about survival horror games without them mentioning Silent Hill. I can't throw a stone without hitting someone who hasn't orgasmed over this series at one time or another. Silent Hill isn't underrated. Not even compared to Resident Evil is it underrated. The mere fact that they're so often compared is evidence that they're on par when it comes to fan base.

Also, Resident Evil was not about shock fights. Yeah there were some jumpy moments but the same is true of all works of horror. Every one of them likes to go for at least one cheap boo eventually. Resident Evil may not have been as atmospheric as Silent Hill but there's more to horror than just that. Resident Evil did have atmosphere but it got your heart racing in another way.

Resident Evil (at least until 4 when they did everything they could to stab themselves in the heart and burn everything they'd built up to in the past) was at it's most intense with the monsters. Not because they were scary looking or because they jump out at you but because of everything you know about them. You know they're strong, you know they're fast and you know there's been so many of them that you've tried to fight that right now it's you, a narrow corridor, a hunter and three shots left in your pistol. You're screwed.

Both Silent Hill and Resident Evil are the most popular survival horror franchises out there (or at least they were until Resident Evil decided it was too cool for horror and became an action series) and they're frightening in different ways. Now, as for underrated? Yeah. I'm going to go with Fatal Frame. I at least saw copies of the Siren games available (even managed to get the PS3 reimagining). Fatal Frame? I knew about it but never saw it for sale.

With Heavy Rain's release just a month away, I started thinking about a game I played a long time ago. Omikron: The Nomad Soul is one of the most memorable works of video game history ever. Curious, I took a look at GameSpot's review and found they gave it only a 6 and generally panned the game. This was quite a surprise to me!

Who else here played Omikron way back when. What are your thoughts on it?
