I wish I could get excited about this, but Pragmata was the most interesting thing of this entire slate and since that's out indefinitely, I don't find much to get excited about here. Exoprimal did interest me, but as I see more, that interest has lessened. I'm not very thrilled about it being some kind of ridiculous wave shooter, especially when they have done absolutely nothing with Dino Crisis in 20 years and, if they were going to make a dino game, that would be the one people actually want.
Code Veronica should be the next game. It's the most logical choice and has been largely buried by other titles. It deserves a good remake to introduce a new gen to it's story.
Nothing about this movie is any different in terms of quality from the previous films, at least up to entry 7. If you like these movies, it's around a 7, maybe an 8. I can see why people who don't like them would give it a 4, in which case why are you watching anyway? This delivers exactly what you expect. Maybe it doesn't have quite enough non-stop action and it has a handful of scenes that could be cut, but overall, it's one of the better entries. It's definitely better than the last two. Momoa as Dante makes a lot of it worth watching as he's the best villain the franchise has had. And it does feel fairly self-aware at this point, with several aspects feeling like a wink to the audience about how ridiculous it all is (as the film itself says, these characters defy God and gravity). A 4 seems like the kind of score someone gives this after asking why they keep making these after every new entry.
@wahsobe: I enjoy them as well, even the 4th one. I am more sad about what happened with the franchise as a whole. The Wachowski's created an entire world with a mythology that was so damn cool and it was wasted on a lot that just didn't deliver like it should have. Everything about the franchise just kind of faded off. I think, most of all, it's the lack of interest that really killed it, which was always a damn shame. People just stopped being interested in the franchise.
My utter disappointment with everything in this franchise after the original film has never died. In my entire film viewing time on this earth, there may be no other movie that hooked me like The Matrix. I wanted this to be my Star Wars. I wanted this to become an all encompassing franchise. Never happened. Yes, Animatrix was great, but Enter The Matrix was a huge disappointment. I appreciate everything they tried to do as a franchise, but almost every product ended as an ultimate failure and it just fizzled out. The lack of reception Resurrections was the quiet whimper of a franchise I have loved for over 20 years fizzling out unceremoniously.
Although I have no interest in this based in the fact I didn't like Breath of the Wild, I didn't have much doubt it would be a 10. If something works, don't fix it.
Although I wasn't planning to play this anyway, it's disappointing that this turned out so bad and a pretty bad first game for Arkane/Bethesda to release since their MS buyout. Arkane makes really solid games, so I am curious what went wrong. This should be taken as a lesson to let them develop as they will and be hands off. If a studio has a good track record, don't mess with it.
@doomsdayhell01: Arkane usually delivers quality stuff. Their last several major games, going all the way back to Dishonored (excluding the Wolfenstein stuff) have been great. This definitely seems out of character for them and I can't help but feel the Bethesda buyout playing a role in it.
The waffle maker I would expect. The exclusivity to Dave and Busters is surprising. Although the waffle make looks cheap (as are a number of the D&B appliance prizes), I'd still get that just to have as a Sonic collectable.
I dig the obviousness of it being a Max Payne-alike, but the graphics stick out like a sore thumb, and that makes it hard to be excited for this. That trailer doesn't do a whole lot but say "Look, we recreated Max Payne with graphics that look like they came from the same year Max Payne was developed, but with vampires and werewolves", which isn't really all that appealing.
