With all of the great games being announced for this year, you have to combine anticipation with mystery. Whether or not you know exactly what the game will contain, these are the games that I'm excited about.
#10 Metal Gear Solid Rising-PS3/360
With Snake's story epicly concluded, one can't fathom what Kojima has planned next. It's hinted at a new gameplay style and making the cyborg-ninja Raiden the central character. It's low on the list due to the fact that we're not entirely sure if it's coming out this year, but the excitement still stands.
#9 Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty-PC/MAC
The sequel to the definitive RTS game has been highly anticipated for years, and if it doesn't come out this year, blame the guy that made the announcement at BlizzCon. Theres more added to the game than just re-rendered 3D graphics, there's a new battlenet platform being unleashed. We all can't help but be excited about the newest game in the series.
#8 Final Fantasy XIII-PS3/360
Even with all the new charcters, beautifully rendered cutscenes, and gunblades; my anticipation on the newest game in the longest running RPG franchise is purely based on the past performance of Square Enix. Final Fantasy Vii was and stlll is an excellent game, and if XIII is anything like it, I have every reason to be excited.
#7 Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition-PS3/360
Resident Evil 5, although disappointing, is a great survival horror game, and with new chapters being released I can't help but be excited. This is the only entry on the list that isn't a full game, yet it still has everyone excited.
#6 Red Steel 2-Wii
With the first Red Steel being a disappointment, and video games have a legitimate chance at being better than the original, and the new features being added to Red Steel 2, I'm very excited for the next entry next month. Who doesn't love slicing up bandits with a katana? It just doesn't get old! With implementation of the new Wii Motionplus accessory, it's sure to operate much better than the original.
#5 Super Mario Galaxy 2-Wii
With so much left over from the first game that got thrown out the window, and the awesomeness of the first game, and the return of the bulemic dinosaur Yoshi, I just can't wait to see the next great Mario game from Nintendo's team.
#4 Mega Man 10-Wii/PS3/360
With the outrageous success of Mega Man 9, Capcom has announced yet another 8-bit style Megaman game scheduled for this March. I loved Mega Man 9 even with it's punishing difficulty, and I can't wait for the next installment.
#3 Lost Planet 2-PS3/360
Okay, next time I go to Gamestop, I AM PRE-ORDERING THIS GAME! With epic new gameplay and cutscenes, character customization, and new destructive toys to play with, Lost Planet 2 easily places high on this list. The demo was enough to get everybody excited, but the new episodic trailers, and Albert Wesker from the Resident Evil series as a pre-order bonus, drove us all nuts.
#2 Diablo III-MAC/PC
It was a hugely painful decision not to make this one number 1, but I've finally decided which one truly gets the number one spot. Several years in the making, we all hope this game gets released this year. The new graphics are absolutely beautiful and the new classes and abilities are awesome! All that and new enemies, bosses, dungeons and equipment! I seriously hope this game comes out this year!
#1 Metroid: Other M-Wii
How can I allow this game to be higher on the list than Diablo III? How about a new look at Samus' past (note: I said PAST!) through beautiful cutscenes, or maybe it's the new gameplay style instead of the FPS style, or maybe it's the fact that Team Ninja, a team well known for supreme action and content, has taken the helm. The next Metroid is truly the most anticipated game of this year.
I'm Psycho-Hazard, I play games, write reviews, and complain.
