Bungie update images add 250 Gamerscore, 10 Cheevos to Halo: Reach

This week'sBungie.net news update brought with it more than just info aboutHalo: Reach's Xbox Live stats — it also featured a couple of screens showing an extra 10 Achievements and 250 Gamerscore for the just released title. In a segment explaining how to install the game to the 360′s hard drive, two screens can be clearly seen with the adjusted Gamerscore and 'Cheevo count (1250 up from 1000 Gamerscore and 59 up from 49 Achievements).

Bungie doesn't directly address the changes in its update, instead hinting at "some new stuff" being added in a "potential second October update." Unfortunately, this hint is dropped right after talk of the regular housekeeping performed onHalo multiplayer, so it's unclear what's being hinted at directly.Halo 3 was eventually lavished with an astonishing1750 Gamerscore when all was said and done, so the idea of an extra 250 doesn't seem like much of areach if you ask us.

F1 2010 classic cars DLC on dev wishlist

Formula 1 2010 won't see post-release DLC, Codies has said, but lead designer Stuart Hood would still 'love' to make some ****c cars and tracks available in the future.

Hood told CVG that if this year's F1 game takes off there may be the opportunity to do DLC for F1 2011.

"One of the things, for example, we would love to do as DLC would be tracks or cars. I'd love to do that," he said.

"Bit of a licensing nightmare, we're stretched to breaking point anyway trying to get this main game out and we're deving up to the final few days of submission, which you should never really do."

"But we were eager to get everything we could into this extra game. There was no way we could do extra stuff for DLC," he explained.

"Maybe, if the game takes off this year, we'd consider doing it in the future, I'd love nothing more than DLC."

Alan Wake's "The Writer" Is The Final Piece Of DLC For The Game

http://files.g4tv.com/ImageDb3/247030_S/Alan-Wake-The-Signal-DLC-Out-Now-Microsoft-Remedying-Redeem-Code-Issue.jpg

Alan Wake fans: It's time to be sad. So very, very sad. According to Matias Myllyrinne, CEO of Remedy, The next piece of DLC for the game, The Writer, will be the last.

We don't have a release date on the DLC, or too many details, but Myllyrinne promises it will wrap up the Wake story and feature "intense action." One other piece of info: The DLC will feature the song "The Darkest Star" by 1980s techno band Depeche Mode.

Alan Wake was one of my favorite games of the last year: I'm a horror junkie, so Wake was like pure heroin. I can only hope a sequel is coming. My fingers are crossed, but my generally pessimistic nature leans toward not much chance. We shall see, Isuppose. Did you guys play Alan Wake? What did you think?

Xbox Live Preview Program: Check Out The New Dashboard

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/xbox-dashboard-09-13-2010.jpg

Microsoft is running an Xbox 360 Update Preview Program, wherein a selected number will be able to get a first look at the new dashboard planned to coincide with Kinect, as well as ESPN, Zune music, Netflix search, new Zune video updates, family settings and more on Xbox Live.

To sign up, you'll need to visit the Microsoft Connect site and sign in with your Windows Live ID, which connects with your Gamertag. There's a quick survey to fill out, after completing which you'll be immediately notified whether you've been selected for the preview or not.

Here's some important stuff you need to know about the Preview Program (via Major Nelson):

  • We're looking for multiple thousands of participants, so your chances of making it in are good.
  • This is not for Kinect. You will not be receiving a Kinect sensor if you are chosen to participate.
  • This opportunity is open to all Xbox LIVE Members in regions where Xbox LIVE is available.
  • To avoid any problems, read the survey carefully and double check all the information you provide.
  • While both Xbox LIVE Gold and Silver members can sign up, priority will be given to Gold members in the selection process.
  • Party Chat will not work with people outside of the Preview Program.

Good luck signing up!

New Move Bundle Announced

http://www.ps3blog.net/wp-content/uploads/Eye-Pet-Bundle-Screen-1-300x225.jpg

Up until now, the only options for those that don't own the PS3 Eye and wanted to get into Move was to either buy them separately (which costs $80 plus tax) or in the Sports Champions Bundle ($99 plus tax and thus a better value), but Sony has announced at PlaystationBlog that, starting this Friday (September 24th for those keeping score), we will see the release of this new bundle.

This new bundle will be exclusively available from Toys R' Us and will only be released in the US and Canada. As can be seen from above, it will include a PS3 Eye, a Move controller and a copy of Eyepet, all for $99. There is no mention of a demo disc as is the case with the Sports Champions Bundle, but that's not such a bad thing since you can get all the demos from PSN, but it WILL make a difference for those families that own a PS3 but don't use PSN (of which, there are many).

As you can see, Eyepet is Sony's way of getting parents to buy the game for their kids and, thus, have at least one Move unit in a house which could open the door for more of the Move releases finding their way into their collections. A quick way to describe Eyepet would be if Nintendogs allowed you to be in the screen with your pet. The camera is used in a very smart way that allows real life objects to be introduced into the game to interact with your small ball of fur and the AI seems to be solid.

Oly (hearts) this game and will surely help paint a better picture for those interested in this release.

Xbox Live subscribers can vote for upcoming Deal of the Week

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/gamdealoftheweekpoll530.jpg

Microsoft has put an interesting turn on its weekly rotation of discounted items on Xbox Live — the Spotlight tab on the console's dashboard currently includes a poll which will let users choose which of a handful of items they'd like to have marked down for an undisclosed week in October. These discounts include 33 percent off DeathSpank, half off Perfect Dark, or similar markdowns on DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, Trials HD and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

It would be unethical for us to use our considerable internet power to get you to pick the thing that we'd like to pick up at a discounted price, so we'll refrain from doing so. Instead, we'll just have to rely on the same remote mind-control tactics we've been using to puppeteer your every action for the past four years now. That's right, Brandon, we're inside your mind.

*Currently the poll is only available in Canada, United Kingdom and United States

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Online Co-Op Delayed Again

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1375/cover.jpg

Prior to its release on XBLA, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light's online co-op was delayed, but now developer Crystal Dynamics has declared that it has been delayed again until the end of September. It could be that people are past caring and have already finished the game locally with a friend, but the developer is working hard on bringing the feature to the game and has its reasons for the hold up.

"We didn't want to deliver the subpar experience online," Karl Stewart, global brand director at Crystal Dynamics told Kotaku. Apparently, it was recognised late into the game's development that the online co-op aspect just wasn't going to cut the mustard in time for launch on the Xbox Live Arcade at the tail end of the Summer of Arcade in August, so it was held back.

"This is our first time doing online co-op using our engine in the studio," Stewart added. "We were open that it would have the challenges… Whether it be lag, the ability to drop in and out or the ability for the leaderboard to update as you played, these are things that needed to (work)."

Lara Croft's co-op is now undergoing extra polish and is scheduled to arrive with the first of five DLC packs at the end of the month. This first DLC pack will add three new challenge rooms and will be completely free for Xbox 360 users for the first 30 days. So, it's not all bad news then.
