Wowza. I was expecting just another fun Dark Souls game, but this is looking amazing. I find it to be a very neat idea to take the concept behind Dark Souls, but place it in more of a modern Victorian era, rather than very ancient areas like the other souls games. Very excited. Might have to buy a PS4 just for this.
Game has been very enjoyable so far. However, the lack of weapon and clothing customization is a bit of a bummer. Weapon swapping at any time is also a bit silly. I can basically carry every weapon in the game at the same time, which is a bit....weird. Driving is a bit clunky, but challenging. And all the audio(weapons, explosions, vehicles, etc) sounds great.
Invasions/PvP are enjoyable as well, but I tend to have alot of issues with ever finding anyone. Overall, I have to agree with the 8.1 score from the users. If you like GTA and Saints Row type games, you will most likely enjoy this game.
Surprisingly fun game. Lets be honest, it is not anything groundbreaking in the gaming industry, but it is still a good game. Graphics are nice, storyline is intriguing, characters are interesting, guns and shooting are entertaining. It is somewhat linear, but still offers some open space to choose how you want to approach the situation, with side entrances, hidden rooms, combat preferences, etc.
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who considers themselves a FPS enthusiast, or anyone who generally enjoys the FPS genre.
@Gelugon_baat @shippous That is the WHOLE POINT of the series. Its whole structure is built on being difficult. Being vague on where to go, what to do, who to talk to, how to use items, etc. That is what makes the game appealing to the fanbase that loves the series. I do not need to go look for other games where you have to learn "the hard way" to compare to the Souls series, because they are not made to be that way. Dark Souls is.
Learning the hard way IS what Dark Souls is all about. That IS the appeal for the people who love this game. Just because some people feel the need to resort to 3rd party sources to figure out features that can be figured out with a little trial and error or a little patience is not a flaw in the game. It is a flaw of the gamer. Access to 3rd party sources has made everyone LAZY. Every single one of these complaints he made was easily rectified with a little thought and experimentation. If people want a game to hold their hand, this game is not for them.
And it should not be ranked badly just because this guy had difficulty figuring out the basics of the game.
I respect everyone's opinions when ranking games, but a lot of his "negative" aspects of the game are based on his own misunderstandings of features in the game. Things like using his effigies wrong, not understanding symbols, moving slow because he has too heavy of gear on, etc.
The game does not hold your hand. That is why some gamers love the series. While I agree that DS2 is not as good as Demon Souls or Dark Souls 1, giving it a 5 because you don't grasp certain concepts of the game is somewhat silly.
