@goobermeal: it's actually outsourced for a big part to the polish studio QLOC, that did several (succesful) remasters in the past for PC and consoles.
@dacontag: because tastes differ. some people don't play certain games because the gameplay doesn't interest them (e.g. me & building games), because they don't like the art/graphic style (e.g. me & games with japanese anime characters, like FF or Persona), because they want the game to be more serious or less serious and sometimes the reason is not clear, but there's just something off about a game and you just don't buy/play it (e.g. me as a long time dark souls fan, who still hasn't gotten or even tried Nioh).
Mario is very specific in its art style, it's cartoonish and childish (or i should say child-friendly to not offend anyone), that can definitely be a turn off. Maybe you just don't like the gameplay? I suppose almost everyone over 30 playing Mario games nowadays probably plays them purely for Nostalgia or because they've always been a big fan.
i always wanted a underwater game, where you are actually underwater (meaning not in rapture, even though bioshock is brilliant of course). sadly i only have a ps4 :( might have to check out some let's plays. it's sort of crazy that this idea has not been realized as a game more often in a more or less grounded/realistic art style (e.g. Abzu's art style is not for me). or has it? sure there are lots of underwater levels and pretty much all open-world games allow you to swim and dive, but a whole game focused on that? i loved that short bit at the beginning of uncharted 4 where you are diving in the river and later on near the island or the parts of bioshock 2 where you are actually in the water. there's just something so fascinating about the underwater world. i really hope for more games like this (preferably also on ps).
