@Salt_AU: Exactly. In the words of one Ned Stark: You don't simply sell your ps3. Although i gotta admit i barely touch it, even though i got 2 or 3 games to finish up. Mostly because it's really hard to go back to the Dualshock 3. That thing seems so cheap now. I still use the ps3 to listen to audio cds from time to time.

@dhaynes25: I wish more gamers would have this notion. Imagine real conversations and opinions about games, instead of "fanboy this", "fanboy that" that fill half the comments on (not only) exclusive releases. We all like games, isn't that something that should connect instead of divide? Of course we are a competitive species (even more so, because 90% of all gamers are male) and of course Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo need to be competitive so we consumers get better products, but all that infantile BS you have to sift through on sites like these (or let me say the internet in general) is getting so annoying.

This is the year that the PS4 finally arrived in my opinion! The PS4 started very slow with mostly remasters until Bloodborne was released (this is of course tied to my personal preference of games). Even then it took some time to really get going. 2015 had Bloodborne and the Witcher Wild Hunt, 2016 had Dark Souls 3, Uncharted 4, and Dishonored 2... that aren't many games over the course of 2 years. Then 2017 started and we got Nioh, Nier, RE7, Prey, Horizon, Hellblade, Death of The Outsider, Lost Legacy and the Evil Within 2. So there were more interesting game releases this year as in the last two years combined. Again my personal preference of course (i value gameplay over story, but i like games like the Witcher to fill the story void that games like Bloodborne leave). I wonder what 2018 will bring and if it can match 2017 in any way. So far i haven't heard of anything interesting, short of God of War, for the PS4 for next year.

Memorable Indie-Games for me during the PS4-era: Transistor, Don't Starve, Darkest Dungeon. Though i'm not sure about their release dates, i seldom buy indie games on day 1.

@CyberEarth: Aha, yeah makes sense. in Germany we say "schwarze Zahlen schreiben" (writing black numbers) if your business is going well.

@collbanth: i would agree if in the 1st game you would only play as Jill exploring the ship, maybe with 2 or 3 shooter sections with Chris, i would say that game is better too. But as it is i like the 2nd game better, because the story was more coherent (i won't say anything about how good the story is, because it's pretty clear the games shoot for a b-movie style of narration with one-liners like "who's the master of unlocking now?!" and "and we all had a blast!"). Neither were high quality titles, that's correct, but i still liked both games a lot and neither had the price of a high quality title either. I think revelations 2 cost me 20€ in total. still i'm a huge resident evil fan and i think it's mostly because of the atmosphere they create in games.

about 2 weeks ago i was pondering wether i should start ng+ on Horizon Zero Dawn or try beating revelations 2 on invisble mode and revelations was a clear winner for me. my point is being a high quality title doesn't necessarily mean it's more fun to play, everybody has to decide that themselves and i found it particularly funny that i had more fun playing the 20€ revelations than the 65€ Horizon.

@livedreamplay: as i gather from this review paying extra cash or not paying it doesn't make much difference, because the progression system is completely RNG-based, even when investing extra money. so it's not so much about the microtransactions but the game itself, which is even worse than pure pay-to-win in my opinion.

@skippert: i capped/cap all my characters at 120 (bloodborne and souls) and the difference between say ng++ and ng+++ isn't that huge for it to make a difference. i think it really depends on what the particular bosses were actually doing, because Maria for example was just a pushover the 1st few times. i could just be really aggressive towards her and whittled her down fast. then out of the blue she suddenly shows me all those moves i've never seen before and totally kicks my butt. it also makes a difference if you're on a different build. if you're playing a mage and try to keep your distance for example, the boss uses different tactics (either to close in on you or using ranged attacks herself) than when you're on a CQC-build and you're basically face-hugging the boss the whole time.
