@Zombie8814: no, i'm talking about the challenge missions after you beat the story. there are 5 initially and then a 6th after you beat the 5. each mission has 4-5 waves if i remember correctly. that 6th mission is insanely hard and the only trophy still missing for me.

great game, focusing on the one thing that truly matters: gameplay!

i still need to beat that last challenge, it's so hard...

i just started my 2nd playthrough on Nightmare with Typhon powers only. Now i can manage having only 100 hp (even on Nightmare there's nothing that one-shots you, but yes i die more frequently because even mimics do massive damage) and 100 psi. But what's killing me at the moment is that i can't expand my inventory on this playthrough. Running back and forth to the nearest recycler all the time. In theory you could say you'd only carry your most important weapons, yet in practise this doesn't work. i need the gloo gun, because exploration is even more important on this playthrough (no 20% extra recycling yield) and it really helps with those dodgy mimics and phantoms too. i need both the pistol (long range dmg) and shotgun (heavy dmg and knockdown). the wrench is also very important to conserve ammo (though i'm not 100% sure this is necessary because you get the plans to craft ammo pretty early on). then there is the boltcaster, which is essential in opening certain doors/door-opening utilities of computers (psychotronics morgue and armory for example) but for the rest of the time just takes up inventory space. since it's very easy to make (only 2 parts i think) i could just throw it away after using it or store it somewhere. the only cut i made so far is the q-beam which i never really used on my 1st playthrough either. other than that inventory management is the real horror on this playthrough.

If i would know the game inside out i think it would be a lot easier, because weapons appear along the way all the time and if i would know i could drop my gloo gun here because before i need it again there will be another in that area where i need it i could save a lot of space.

other than that Nightmare difficulty hits hard. i love it.

@justerthought: i prefer to play the games first that interest me the most. there was a time when i was really excited about horizon, but ever since i heard it was open world i got a lot less excited. i played a lot of games and i realized over time that openworld games are not my favourite and i rather prefer linear games with a good chunk of exploration (dead space, bioshock, the last of us, etc.). i think it may be because i feel tempted to do all the side stuff in a game as well and naturally open world games have a lot of this (which at times can be overwhelming, much like the side quest log in the witcher 3) so i usually get bored/fed up with those kind of games at a certain point. fallout 4 was an excellent game i thought, yet after i played it for a couple of days i stopped for about 2 months before finally finishing it because i just never felt like playing it. i have no doubt horizon looks stellar and even has some solid gameplay, but looking at someone streaming it i immediately thought of far cry and your standard open world game with your standard side quests and picking up a million flowers on the way from one objective to the next and i held off getting it to the point where i'm not sure when or wether i'm going to buy it. Prey just had the upper hand here because it is survival horror set in space, one of my favourite genres ever (thanks to dead space) as opposed to fighting robots with a bow, which apart from the redhaired heroine and a beautiful landscape doesn't have that much to draw me in. Prey may not be the perfect game (i'd always prefer third person perpective over first person) but it definitely got me hooked. I'm on my second playthrough now (Nightmare/Typhon powers only).

@mathandr: it's an opinion after all. he's got some valid points from his perpective and in no way does he bash the game. Also a "6" is not a poor score either. people just have different tastes and that's alright. i'm enjoying the game like you do too. i definitely like dishonored 2 better than Prey, but i would score Prey a 7 (which is a good score and yet only 1 score higher that this supposedly low score of the reviewer), as i find the setting, the heavy exploration aspect and the game mechanics (recycling, crafting, etc.) very much to my liking. the gameplay itself, or for the most part the combat gameplay feels a bit off to me but not nearly so bad that i wanna put it down.

i'm a huge fan of the Souls series and its gameplay, but i don't want to run around in an exosuit for a whole game. It's just a design choice i can't find myself in. In fallout 4 i never used the power armour, except in the beginning when the game forced me to.

Anyway i congratulate the effort. From a pure gameplay perspective it looks solid. If the exosuits would have been replaced with injections of some sort of futuristic medicine (i know, very original) i would probably give it a shot.

@jesterofbass: it's definitely not the kind of game you can play when you just have an hour. it takes me almost an hour to thoroughly rearrange my inventory ;)

i'm hoping to finish it this friday when i have the whole evening to play. i'm at 33 hrs currently.

1st: i love that someone finally did this! americans have the possibility to sue anything, so this should have been done much earlier.

2nd: it costs almost 20 dollars to watch a movie in a cinema? are drinks or anything included? i thought 10€ was a lot.

3rd: who goes to watch a movie on the 1st date?! "hey nice to meet you in person, now shut up for the next 2 hrs please so i cannot get to know you".
