Option 2 seems the better of the two personally. BTW, the performance difference is so small between GT and GTX that the additional cost, noise, and power consumption (indirect cost) isn't really justified.

I just recently reformatted my entire C: drive, which was everything. I have ad-aware which I run about once a week, and I just recently defragged. If it is some sort of spyware, or trojan, could they make it through a reformat, and if so, what programs can I use to find/remove these.Sigleaf

Rare is the malware that can recover from a full HDD formatting and if you are really paranoid you can use something like a linux liveCD and shred the entire partition (overwrite multiple times with random binary, defaults to 25 times I believe). Still, thats something best saved for very extreme cases and you want to check other things first.

For the BIOS update you are going to have to go to your manufacturer's website and see if they have a new version, provided they do you'll also need a floppy disc to put the new version on. For more specific details you can consult online help elsewhere (not sure where) or maybe these guys can help you out better.

Flashing the BIOS was never anything I had a desire or need to do.

As for the cooling problem, will the pads that fit under your laptop help it at all? Also does having my windows resolution different than my game resolution affect it at all, because im gaming in 1024x768 and my desktop resolution is 1920/1200. I also have a windows theme, should I remove this?Sigleaf

I can't speak for the pads, but everything else should be virtually irrelevant (if not entirely so) as far as a potential cooling problem goes.

can i not just put all my unpartitioned sapce into c?rockstar2006

No, HDDs don't work like that, you could expand the Windows partition (but you would want to backup all files first) however, then it would be partitioned but unused so it technically wouldn't be unpartitioned space. My suggestion is to keep some of the extra space in the form of a backup partition (as in your files, not Windows stuff..that you can recover).

Unless you plan to be loading a ton of programs 50GB should be fine for now, although I don't know how many things you plan to load/store on it, so this may be inaccurate.

[QUOTE="donalbane"]Mass Effect >>>>>> Uncharted in graphics, according to donalbanegamer.comdonalbane

That biased place? Feh, you should never believe anything you read from THERE.

Everyone has a bias. You're biased against me, it would seem.

Gah, darn the lack of joke tags around here.

thanks for letting me know you are blind fanboy

mingo123

Perhaps you should post something that isn't almost ENTIRELY white and/or not in 640p compared to up to 1080i native on Uncharted?

Most shooters. Adventure needs to be 15 min.

Guiltfeeder566

Frankly some of the Onimusha titles got tiresome by around the ten hour mark and some other games I've played (heck, even Zelda) aren't much better.

Really?

you didn't watch this then:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5bFxcPmG1o

To those using Gears or CoD4 as arguments for the hsort gameplay against Uncharted are missing the point. Microsoft, Epic and Infintry Ward NEVER claimed that this next gen would promise longer games based on the technology whereas Sony and Blu-Ray DID

and that's what I was trying to say...

kingfire11

Except they never state that in the video you are linking. "Create environments of unrivaled depth and complexity" doesn't suddenly mean "HEY KIDS, its an everlasting Gobstopper!" just because you think it does. Frankly speaking, Heavenly Sword and Uncharted pretty much do deliver on that "unrivaled depth and complexity" spiel of theirs, barring a handful of PC titles.

That commercial is slightly misleading, but far less than you would see even in the typical Mac commercial for instance..don't even get my started on those iPhone testimonials.

Clockspeed has long since stopped being the primary factor in a CPU's competitiveness, AMD back during the Pentium days could compete with Pentium 4s or Pentium Ds clocked almost half a ghz higher.

Also the GPU is now doing the vast majority of the graphical work, so the Acer is most definitely the better of the two.

pc3200 with 400mhz then they can work to gether but more then likely when I get the money and tiger has a sale again on mem then I'll get it from them.

blackleather223

Heres something useful to know, PC3200 is the samething as DDR400 (400 being the clockspeed in megahertz) and this follows for DDR2 as well. When you see "PC2-6400" that is DDR2-800. In otherwords the numbers following the PC or PC2 on the package are approximately the clockspeed multiplied by eight.

Latency is also important, so at the same clockspeed a stick of memory that runs at 800Mhz (PC2-6400) with a latency of 4-12-12-14 should in theory beat one with latencies of 5-12-12-15 (latency should always be in that form). If two sticks of memory (DIMMs for desktops, SO-DIMMs for laptops) is rated at say..PC2-5300 and the rest are rated at PC2-6400 they will all run at PC2-5300 (or 667Mhz).

Mixing memory manufacturers is sometimes allowable but not recommended and to run in dual data rate mode (for which DDR derives its name) they must be matching points and in the appropriate banks (memory slots).

Oh and don't forget, GS new review policy is "teh identity crisis".game_masta14

Oh don't get me wrong, thats not railing against Gamespot (although I certain have strong disagreement with some of their reviews) it is however a kind of informal complaint against a couple of changes.

First of all is the narrowing possibilities in review scores, that makes it harder to peg a game, you could before say that a game would be AA and have some reasonable amount of certainty that this would be the case. You could also possibly say "graphics will score great, otherwise not so much" and often be pretty close.

Now you've got two possible scores within that AA and its not entirely clear where the cutoff between them is, also individual aspects don't have scores, they may get medals but thats even more inexact than the new scoring system.

The second thing is a change in reviewers, it seems Gamespot is taking on some new ones and while this is necessary, they don't really seem to review based upon any genre preference (in of itself not a bad thing) or even upon a tolerance of a genre. Why is Alex Navarro reviewing say...Raiden III when it seems to be a genre he doesn't have any interest in?
