If it hits 299 in 2008 its going to be PS2 versus original X-Box versus GameCube days as the movie playback helped a lot of folks when it came to choosing time.

And it will be a whole new game for folks that in the main take home sixhundred dollars.

Today: dad I want a new games console and its geez 600 bucks for that one, sorry kid its too expensive.

With a 299 SKU: gee kid its only 299 to get bluray playback plus it plays games versus 250 Wii with no storage, no movie playback= gee sorry Wii, hello PS3 wellcome to my house.

299 PS3 SKU versus 200 Wii= sorry Wii but no movie playback plus no dolby digital plus no 720p output plus no storage means its either a PS3 or a 360 that had better have all the PS3 features or its only PS3 as the deal setter and the wellcome to my house bit, but then this is IMO.

So TGS is closing in on us fast and we are waiting on the news of a 399 dollar PS3 and as I was reading news from several sites I came across an interesting news tidbit where Sony expects to get back close to nine hundred millon dollars from selling the Cell chip production facilities plus the millons its going to get from selling that IPO=more than a BILLON dollars!

Anyone want to bet on a cheaper and full featured PS3 for 299 in 2008.Now I can hear you folks saying but the 360 then drops in price and the Wii does also and sales increase for all three home consoles.Well not exactly since the sweetspot for most folks is 299 and under so most folks are going to choose a 360 AND a PS3 to get their games fix with the poor Wii loosing the low price factor that so far was boosting sales.Hey its just IMO but lets see in 2008 since it now looks like Sony is going to be flush with plenty of cash and looking for places to spend it on.Hmmm wonder if any Game Development Studios will be purchased or if all that cash will be to fuel competitive pricing plus added games library?

The sale of the facilities could near $900M, and it would basically hand over control of Cell and its production over to Toshiba, but a special venture will exist between the two giants, preventing the PlayStation 3 from suffering as a result of this. It's interesting to note that Toshiba is also, coincidentally, Sony's rival in the HD market right now (HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray).

Now, this all comes back to the pricing of the PlayStation 3, ultimately. With the $399 price-tag fast approaching, and with Sony unleashing a horde of shares from a separate IPO estimated at a couple of billion dollars, it's looking more and more likely that Sony will be in easier financial health. And hopefully that means cheaper prices for their products.

The funny thing about the Wii is that its biggest games are 1st party and not 3rd party

MagnuzGuerra

Well, Nintendo is the biggest game publisher, what did you expect?

Just what I am seeing from Nintendo where the big focus is going to be wifit and God help any poor gamer that only has the Wii to amuse themself with.I feel sorry for kids like that.

Poor games library, last-gen capabilities, bad 3rd party support, terrible online service, overrated controller, worst Nintendo console I've ever owned personally ^^^

There isn't much to like about it not dislike.

marth678

Sell it and write a blog and spare us your whining, please :)

if it excells the oringianl xbox then it isnt last gen in capabiblites... also the ps3 and 360 fail in COMPARISON TO THE PC SO THEY MUST BE LAST GEN TOO

A videogame is an audio visual experience. Todays audio visual experience comes with Dolby Digital and comes with at least 720 p for the visual part as far as the Wii its stuck like my man Ted Nugent with prologic sound from last gen and 480p video from last gen.

A perfect game with last gen prologic and last gen 480p does not exist by todays home console standards, mate.

Giday.

[QUOTE="groudyogre"]This is funny. This is the exact reason cows are called cows. If sony can afford to sell the PS3 at $399, then what does that say about them charging $599 for it to begin with? Think about it then get back to me ;)Magical_Zebra

The only funny thing is what it says about YOU.Two years ago getting a four Gigabyte usb removable media for under one hundred dollars was an impossible feat. Things tend to drop in price as time goes on.A year ago blu-ray diodes were MORE expensive.Cell chips were MORE expensive, RAM was MORE expensive. This lowering of price for most electronic items is self evident for most folks.

The dark cave under the bridge that YOU were looking for is that way>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You still didnt answer the question. Actually its a valid question, do you have an answer?
