Oh Yeah!

Oh yeah! High five for the Spetsnaz. I prevented a duo of Nuke Boosters from achieving a Nuke.

The lowdown is this:

One person has Scavenger (a perk which refills ammo from a dead body) whereas the second player has to have a Tactical Insertion (a grenade which respawns you on its location wherever placed).

So there they are killing each other away with the leaderboard looking very suspicious with one guy holding 25-0 kills and another with 0-25. Surprisingly the next thing I hear is a countdown to a Nuke. I quickly leave the game and fortunately end the game in the process thanks to the crappy Host Migration that Modern Warfare 2 offers.

Take that cheaters!

OK, I can explain...

Anyone looking for graphical comparisons on Final Fantasy XIII on the 360 and PS3 versions can see them here.

I just got back into Modern Warfare. I forgot how much fun it was. It has to be said, everyone on there now are complete n00bs. I might just stop playing the sequel now. Those Heartbeat Sensors are really getting on my nerves...

So there I am, at my Charity Shop, on my desk with a slew of media to sort out. Two such items to tag and price are Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Super Mario 64 for the DS. I manage to resist the temptation of buying them both, but in the process, I don't price and tag them. When I get home though, I feel horribly regretful for not buying them. So the next morning (today) I rang up Oxfam to ask them to reserve the two games where I'll pick them up within the next half hour.

The manager says when I get to the shop "how much would you pay for them"? I say about £9.99 ($14.99) for Curious Village and £6.99 ($9.99) for Super Mario 64 (bearing in mind they are used). Suprisingly, she then gives them both to me for £1.99 ($3.00) each, just for the fact that I volunteer there. I also picked up Mystery Stories for the heck of it (£1.99) which I have no interest in playing but I'll probably give it to my Brother or Mum anyway. OK, so I did break one of my New Year resolutions, but would you seriously miss a deal like that? I did, well nearly...

In other news, I am not buying Battlefield 2, Final Fantasy XIII or God of War 3. They are too expensive even if I can afford all three.

Gaming Updates

Yesterday my exams finished (well, at least for another three months.) And so with exams behind me, I had some time to go back on my PS3.

Modern Warfare 2 as always, is as fun as ever. I got my first Tactical Nuke which you can see here (in crappy quality.) I'd appreciate it if you didn't add the user, because that user isn't me, it's my Brother. For the unaware, a Tactical Nuke is an award for killing 25 consecutive enemies without dieing. The Tactical Nuke starts a countdown, and then after, it kills everything on the map in one, huge radioactive blast. And, yes, half the team left once I got my Nuke. But it's the achievment that counts not the points!

Speaking of which, my Brother is thinking of getting an EasyCap recorder to record his COD gameplay and I've been encouraging him to get the HD one at amazon for £60-$90. If he did, I might be able to put some video reviews or at least gameplay videos together, although I have absolutely no idea at how time consuming they are.

I'm planning on ploughing through Bioshock a second time before I make my second return to Rapture. I really wanna' know what makes the game so special. Because, as I play through it I just don't get the sense of wonder that so many other people experienced. Though, that may just be me, I never really liked repetitive environments. The decor in Bioshock was always consistent which put me off a great deal and it didn't seem to hold much identity (to me anyway.)

I'm also going to try and finish up on my half finished games like Assassins Creed, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Call of Duty: World at War and Need for Speed: Shift at some point.

Oh, and remember that PSN crisis the other day? Well, it looks like some people took it pretty badly.

Thanks guys for appreciating my absence, I hope to comment on all your blogs from now onwards!

Hello Vault 101

No. I shouldn't be here, but I am anyway.

I've been revising constantly and my tests finish next Wednesday so I'll be on after.

Sorry for not commenting on any of your blogs guys and I hope all is well.

Now, let's go kill some more Mole Rats!

Bonjour

I've had quite a busy week. After Normandy, I had about 24 hour's before I was off again to my Nan's. It was quite relaxing, and as well as socialising with my family I read some of my Edge Magazine which I've just subscribed too. I recommend all UK magazine readers to this stuff. The stuff is cheap and the quality is top-notch. It's not all game talk though, it's also about the gaming industry in general and it covers pretty much every platform. Great stuff. Normandy was also great, but more so because I had friends with me. I haven't had enough time to upload any pictures so I'll try and see if I can work something up by tomorrow.

My Dad has finally upgraded our internet speed from 2MB to up to 8MB. This upgrade was primarily due to our overabundance of internet devices. Yes - my Dad doesn't like wireless.

Now for some Demo Impressions. YAY!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is amazing. It's like this year's Killzone. It won't keep me busy for as long as Moern Warfare 2 will, but I'll spend a good few days on its multiplayer nonetheless. Me and my friend have already played a ton of rounds on the Beta's one map, and we're just not getting bored of it. The map is huge, and the sandbox variety is absolutely incredible. Teamwork isn't utmost essential but it helps when you do so.

Likewise, the Heavy Rain Demo is also amazing. The controls are certainly different and they may feel somewhat unecessary but it's all part of what really set's the experience apart. Holding the right trigger to move is arguably annoying but it's that very element, that makes the whole experience so intuitive. Both scenes that were available, while completed, were not so much successful, and I may have ended up with no clues or evidence by the scene's end but honestly, I couldn't care less. In this type of game, it's all about the experience not the gameplay.

Just when I thought 2010 couldn't get any better...

Au Revoir

Half term mid break is up now and I'm off on for a D-Day trip to visit Omaha Beach for a few days. After which, exams will only be a couple of weeks away and so I'll need to do the whole Vault 101 thing again most probably. I also have no temptation to return to my Playstation, so no problems there then.

---

I knew all this gameplay secrecy and broken Multiplayer Demo was only a bad thing. Boy, that's a bad score.

Regarding games, I don't think I'll be buying any major games until I have finished all exams of the school year. Not only that, but I just don't believe in paying full retail prices for 10 hour games like Bioshock 2 and God of War 3. They'll be on the Best Sellers/Platinum range within six months.

Games however that I do plan on buying after...a lot, you could say. I plan on at least buying a dozen or two games. During that time, I may buy the odd PSN/Steam title, if they're on cheap, such as Flower which is only £2.39 ($4) now.

---

To put it simply, I'm going to game very little now and thus my blogging activity will be incredibly weak. I will be commenting on your blogs and Union's just as normally though.

EDIT: I am now gone for good.

Okay, so there I was, 3/4 through the 240 Riddles of Batman AA and the Riddler has had enough. He seemed to have thought I was using the Internet to bypass all these riddles. And he was indeed correct. I was in fact using Game Radars feature for such. I could have probably got 75% of the riddles if I really did try, but to be honest I couldn't really be bothered. So I finished Batman AA on Hard as well as brush up on some of the final riddles with many consecutive silver trophies to be received thereafter. Now, I just need to finish up some challenges before getting a Platty. But a part of me still feels unsatisfied. For the fact I could have easily got most of the riddles had I tried and so if I were to get a Platty, it would seem rather pointless. Oh well... a Platty is a Platty I guess.

Do any of you guys feel unsatisfied when only completing a level or gaining 100% completion thanks to a guided source?

Wow. Just Wow.

It's unfortunate I can't buy Bioshock 2 due to important exams within a month and also due to my resolution promise but I'm sure some UK inhabitants can make good of this link. This applies to both, the PS3 and Xbox 360 version.

To put that into perspective, £30 = $45 and that's the Rapture Edition with the hardback book too.

So there you go Dan, buy it! I don't care if you'e already bought Mass Effect 2, this deal is too good to miss. So good in fact, that I just had to miss it.

PS3 still have stuff, you know?

Right, I'm officially now jealous. I'm drooling at Video Reviews of Mass Effect 2 and I need to cheer myself up.

  • Heavy Rain comes out next month, so hah! MAG came out yesterday, blah.
  • Grand Theft Auto Episodes are coming to PS3. Old news and I'm not old enough to play it.
  • Killzone 3 anyone? Note that you will have to click on this link to find the original source.

I just thought I'd say that I do really love the Xbox. I'm just being an immature PS3 Fanboy.

I'm thinking of subscribing to the Edge Magazine. They have some great stuff and their writing is really enjoyable. You can check some of their stuff out here.

Anyway onto the main attraction. As you know (unless you're born without eyes, ears or thumbs) the new Apple iPad has just been announced and as a potential buyer - possibly moving onto an Apple portable device, I'm impressed so far. The biggest plus definitely comes from the 3G internet that the iTouch, I was also considering, lacks. If it weren't for that I'd have probably dismissed the iPad right away as my biggest gripe comes from it's huge size.

Really, it's not aimed to be a portable device. In fact, a portable device in my eyes, is one that can fit in your pocket - the iPad does not - it's even bigger than our hands put together. Also, really, could you actually listen to it on your way to school/work without it being fairly oblivious to the public? Where would you put it? At least when listening to a Beetles tune? From release, I guarentee you it will most likely be the number one pickpocketing target (not that I pickpocket). What's more is what if the iPad were to fall from the height of your hands? Now, the iPad's a delicate piece of equipment, so it'll have to be fairly durable and sturdy to with stand such a fall which is fairly questionable given its ultra-thin width.

Anyway to end of my relatively short impressions - the iPad is an incredibly promising product, but it doesn't look like it would fit the bill for what i need right now. I understand it isn't exactly a handheld device but it was never meant to be. That said, I do believe that the full integration of 3G internet is an excellent alternative to buying a new computer altogether. I also believe it's far better than buying a handheld gaming device or even a Netbook for that matter.
