I did that with the PS2 which is still kicking. On a related note it's good to have the PS3 raised an inch or two for better air flow. Which I haven't done but example below

what with all the threads lately of dying ps3 systems i wanted to give a quick solution to what i beleave may solve or atleast help you're system last longer, about 7 years ago *i'm estimating* i bought a ps3 console upon its release, this was back when everybody was claiming they had manufacturing issues and didn't last long, well ever since a friend taught me this technique i've been doing it back to the ps1 days and all 3 of my systems to this day work perfectly.. when you're not using or playing you're ps3 simple place a towel or any kind of cloth over the system making sure its completely covered on all sides, now make sure right after playing it u wait atleast an hour for it to cool down afterall u don't wanna trap any hot air in with the system, but then place a cloth or anything over it, even a shirt will do, this will prevent any dust build up on the system while its not in use.. as i stated my old fat ps3 has worked for well over 5 years with no issues what so ever, as does my ps1 and 2.. imo this is most likely the reason, just a thought..

only time my ps3 ever freezes is if i play for like over 5 hours strait or something.. bottomline- they don't last forever, thats why i'm fixin to get a new one before mine starts acting up, besides i want a slim model version anyway.. lol btw does anyone know how to transfer saves from one ps3 to another? without a usb.. read where some guy posted u could.

After about 30-60 minutes of playing, my PS3 freezes. When I turn it on immediately after shutting it off, it only lasts a few minutes. I can hear the fan running at top speed and I also cleaned it out a few weeks ago so it is clean. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks in advance.redllama5

lords of shadow was the worse ever in the series.. HORRIBLE freakin game, and i paid full price when it came out just cause it had the *castlevania* name... it should have been released on a crappy handheld device like psp or something..

Youtube videos are only on 240p, if you have and HDTV all youtube videos will look like crap, its slow, lots of web pages doesn't work well. Its really really bad for web browsing, Using the web browser the PS3 freezes alot! I mean a lot!

Get a new PS3. Fix your old one. While the old one is working, connect your two PS3's and do a system transfer. You will retain everything including locked saves. Deactivate your old console and use it as a blu-ray player until it dies or something.Canvas_Of_Flesh

i've always kept mine just sitting flat, dunno why anybody would want there's standing upright, example- a few years back a friend of mine used to keep his standing on its side an all, well one day it ended up falling down on its side, slammed with a bang and never worked again! true story. no bs.
