If any new updates allow us to save replays, I'll spend the rest of my free days uploading things on YouTube. I can see it now...
ShenlongBo's forum posts
Damn. 11 PM ET is when I leave for work. :( Will you still be up for some help later in the week, ie: Thursday/Friday?DarkCatalystYeah, I should have mentioned, that only leaves a couple of hours for me before I go in to work, but the other guys ought to be available more often. Either way, we'll work something out.
Oh hell yeah, I'm stoked on your behalf. I can set you up with all the Gouken prep you may need (which, let's face it, probably won't be much) with the addition of some new tricks I haven't shown you yet. I can also put up some good fights as Balrog for practice in that matchup.Guys, I'll be going to a tournament hosted by Justin Wong himself, so I need some intense sparing matches from now until Saturday morning. DC, ShenLong, Samyon, and anyone else that for that matter, I need you guys right now to practice my ass off. I'll be home at around 11:00 pm EST, so hit me up on AIM or on XBL/PSN for some matches.
I'll be using Chun-Li the entire tournament, for the most part. I've been practicing with Rufus and I've been dipping into the dark side with Sagat lately but they are nowhere near my Chun-Li's game right now. Wish me luck people. I want to do well and not go 0 and 2 on my first SFIV tournament.
Kreatzion
My good friend DeShae probably won't mind throwing down with you too. He runs a mean Bison and a mean Rose. You might want to scoff at the thought of a "mean Rose," but trust me. Better yet, don't trust me... watch this video of him wrecking my Gouken instead.
I also have a friend named Delo that can put you up against a very strong Guile and Zangief opposition, and I know a very tight Ryu player. So between everyone that's what - Gouken, Balrog, Bison, Rose, Guile, Zangief, Akuma, Ryu, and whoever Samyon runs. I'd say you have fairly high odds of running into at least Rog, Gief, Bison, and Ryu, so this could be a pretty substantial training regimen.
I know that's a lot of links, and it might seem like I'm just trying to plug my vids, but I'm really not. I mean, they're kickass matches and anyone interested in the game should go watch, but really I just want you to evaluate the players yourself and see if you're interested in training against them.
Yeah, I've only been up to 3K, so that 5K looks badass to me. Then again, most of the very good friends I have who are also very good players have low BP scores. It's cool pursue high BP, but ultimately Ws mean more, imo.Hey Phantom, isn't that just a piece of artwork by Kei Acedera? Oh, oh....you almost you got me >_>
And damn, I've never seen anyone with 5000 bps! DC sure laid some serious stuff. That reminds me, I've only got 600 bps -_- Gotta earn my points back!
martialbullet
Hey whatever, I think that baby SF game looks and sounds awesome! I've got just enough of a soft spot in my heart for the series to feel that way, I guess.
Congrats on beating a 5K+ player. That's crazy, I'm not sure I've even seen someone that high, let alone beat them. That Syakko dude who beat the daylights out of me might have had a really high score, but I didn't look. I was too stunned.
Thanks man, I enjoyed the matches too. See there, I wasn't BS-ing about my stick being out of whack. My new corner game should keep DC awake at night. For a bit, anyway.Hey Shen, good games once again. I guess I have to consider making Cammy my main again after some of those heated matches. Oh how I regret passing her off for Chun Li, but I've rediscovered her. We'll see how well I can manage her next time we go at it ;)
And damn, it looks like the new stick has unleashed the beast with your Gouken!!! Holy ****, man!! I really can't be even a bit wreckless now :(
martialbullet
Good work with Cammy also. I kept trying to find something - anything - that might be able to interrupt her Cannon Spike, but that thing is FAST. Fast like, ZERO startup. You used that very well and posed the first legitimate threat from Cammy I've ever faced.
Having trouble getting them to come out, or having trouble getting them to land?I'm having trouble doing vega's ultra and super. Please help!!
zeorshadow19
If it's your execution that's off, you probably need to slow down your directional input a bit. Try it at a speed that seems almost fast enough, but just a little too slow. You might be surprised.
If you can do the moves but can't connect with them, that's because they're just flat hard to land. The Ultra, anyway. For the Super, make sure you guide Vega back over to your opponent after he jumps off the wall, then push P again when you're near. For the Ultra, you need to catch your opponent "with his hand in the cookie jar," as DarkCatalyst likes to put it. That is, wait until he's in recovery from a move (like a fireball), and then go for it. Otherwise, you'll probably just get blocked every time.
Hope this helps.
Grrr... lately my videos have looked and sounded one way when I play them back on my computer, and then they're... off... when they get put through the YouTube upload machine. The vid works, I think... I just didn't have a solution for the sound situation. I was five hours away from a full shift at work by the time I finished though, so I stopped trying to figure it out and just went for it. *shrug* I'm willing to try and make it better then re-upload later.
Here's the link, in case anyone missed it. The entire montage thing just kind of hit me while I was putting the text credits together, so it isn't the best editing anyone's seen in general (by far), or quite possibly by me. This is actually THE FIRST time I've tried anything of this sort, and I have to say it was pretty fun. Windows Movie Maker doesn't always make things as intuitive as I'd like, and it seems like there are some pretty basic tools missing from the kit, but what are ya gonna do?
Had a very good time with these matches. I'll be editing/posting them tomorrow. I know it might seem like just another long set between Gouken and Akuma, but there are some serious mind games in this set, even compared to the last set. Definitely worth a casual playthrough for everyday fans, and possibly some in-depth study for Gouken/Akuma players. I'll keep everyone posted.
One crazy thing is, we both got better, and we both landed our staple combos LESS than we did before. Figure that one out.Just played 24 more bouts with Shen. None were recorded but they bode well for the next batch. I'm amazed how much we've both improved in just the short time since we cut the last match vids.
DarkCatalyst
DeShae and I will be recording this Friday, so if there's any interest here, let me know and I'll fire away again with links. DC, Kreatzion, martial, and anyone else, you're all invited to join in if you like.
Yeah man, those are the ones. Again, too bad the camera had to sputter out before I could finish recording. Don't sweat it though, Leo, I'll be sure to get some Fuerte footage for ya.Looks like all your vids are up, Shen. I'm gonna have to take a look at each one closely!
and Phantom, believe it! I'm a witness! :o Quite a monstrously annoying one too from what I remember
martialbullet
I'm about to go in to work now guys, but when I come home, I'll do a little review of my matches with martial as far as I see them. Martial, I'd love to hear your insights too. Catch up with everyone in a bit.
