Every time I stumble onto an IGN video review I want to stick corks into my ears 15 seconds into it.

IGN: 9s and 10s for everyone (well, if you're a triple-A title at least)!

GameSpot's reviews are often poor, but still miles better. Plus all of IGN's video reviews sound like they're done by pre-pubescents.

Good! The franchises have indeed become quite stale. I haven't gotten excited about a Zelda title since Majora's Mask, and I was very disappointed with that game. Not to say I haven't enjoyed the latest iterations of Zelda and Mario games, but they're no where near my favorite games.

That's not really true. Sony only receives a fraction of the royalties.

Microsoft also receives a tiny fraction - they own the rights to one of the codecs used by Blu-Ray.
