This one match in Red Orchestra (a WW2 sim) where everyone solely used Melee attacks. It was freakin' hilarious, I recall seeing one of my teamates getting ganged up on by like 10 Germans just swinging away at him with their guns, we also would agree to go one on one sometimes on the wing of a crashed plane and would take turns running at each other like it was some medevial joust, and whenever someone would fire a single shot, everyone would make killing him top priority, even his teamates.

Also early every match I had on BG2. Since it was set in the revolutionary war, most of the killing done by beating people to death rather than shooting them. The best times I had was on maps with water since there were no restrictions for being under water (other than jamming your gun) which led to underwater bayonet fights.

And this match in BF2 on Wake Island (more like rape island), I managed to get a whole squad on the enemy ship, their spawn point, by going to the very edge of the map and flying incredibly high then dropping out above the ship. First we picked them off from the upper deck, whenever they went for a chopper or plane we'd snipe them with glass shattering sniper rifles, eventually I jacked their Black Hawk, parked it right next to left edge of the deck then manned the mini gun covering all of the spawn points on the deck, then my teamates took over their choppers and hovering jets, and I'm pretty confident my teamates took over the lower hanger which was the 2nd spawn point.

There's also this amazing server hosted by the site tactical gamer, I played a couple of rounds on their BF2 server and the best match I had was this one on Karkand. My team, the MEC, was losing pretty badly so our commander had the brilliant idea of withdrawing the trainyard which was the perfect defensive position, the cooperation between the all the players was unrivaled by anything I've ever seen online, mainly because you got kicked if you didn't follow orders (although some squad leaders didn't issue orders at all).

I used to get angry in online games pretty easily, but now I can control myself. Single player games are another story, last game that made me angry was this Zelda romhack (which generally are ridicously hard).

kind of makes you wonder why western people are so fat when they favor athletic ability so much. but i suppose that topic is better suited elsewhere.poster

You don't have to be good at something to appreciate it.

Try to tap your finger 8 times in one second. Once you get that down, try to make each of those taps a meaningful move in a game of strategical warfare. Move a group of units, send a worker to build this, have the other ones go retrieve more resources, on the other side of the map move your units away from enemy fire, build a unit from this building, then build one from there, click to see what you just scouted, and make an aggressive push on your enemie's expansion -- oh and do all this in one second. you people have no idea what you are talking about.poster

To do what he's doing you have to press down on the analog stick and B then within 4 frames (a frame is a 60th of a second) press up on the analog stick, X, or Y then within 2 frames press down on the analog stick and B, and repeat until your fingers fall off. I can't get this down even in 1/4th speed, I have to play the game with frame advance.

Never thought that this many gamers would be against the idea of competitive gaming. Competitive gaming certainly isn't as physically taxing as most other sports I'll admit, but it does award skill just as much and in my opinion (and many others) can be as entertaining to watch.

Matyrdom. Seriously, what kind of game punishes you for killing your opponents?

Matchmaking. I don't want the game choosing the rules and maps for me and it takes forever to match up you up with other players.

Tripping. Who ever came up with this and those who gave it the thumbs up need to be spartan kicked down a long set of stairs. It's crap like this that's making me start to hate Nintendo.

If it counts, the Four Swords game that came with the Alttp cartridge for the GBA. It was a perfect mix and cooperation and competition with Zelda's trademark dungeons thrown in. It's a shame both Four Swords games require so much to be played, a remake or sequel for the DS with single cartridge wi-fi would be awesome.

I haven't completed the game but I've got way past the part you're up to and so far it seems bland and boring to me.

I wonder how many you are any good at the good at the games you've mentioned and played them competitively.
