1. Clearly the OP has never played Return the Castle Wolfenstein (multiplayer), Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, or Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. If anything, Brink looks like a spiritual successor to these games than anything else. 2. It's funny that the OP says that it looks slow...if anything, TF2 is really slow, from movement, to the amount of damage people can take (save for crits). That isn't a bad thing, since it's been balanced accordingly.

I've been looking forward to Rage for a while now, but where's the multiplayer info at? Will id be pulling a rabbit out of a hat come E3? I'm cautiously optimistic for Brink as well. I loved Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, but thought ET:Quake Wars could have been better without the vehicles and jaggy animations. It looks like Splash Damage has gotten rid of the vehicles and tweaked the classes even further, which should be a good thing.

[QUOTE="SteezyZ"]IMO the team is more into putting random realistic features rather than making a fun game, as usual.Yangire

Perhaps the realistic features makes it fun for some people? It does for me.

Please don't misunderstand me (I did type IMO), the game is definitely unique and a good thing for the industry. Let's face it, even the narrow genre of shooters is so diverse now, not everything is enjoyable to everybody. There was a UT99 mod called The Third Reich that I played quite a bit of before RO, but I got burnt out on the whole attempt at realism in a shooter from that. They added a "realistic feature" where once you were shot in the leg, you would be forced to crawl until you were either killed, or bled out (which could take minutes). The funny thing was, for the opposing team, it was better to shoot someone in the leg and let them bleed out slowly rather than go for a kill shot so they wouldn't respawn. Realistic? Yes. Game-breaking "feature"? Also yes. I'll try RO2 if there's a demo, but I've become cynical about these types of games.

[QUOTE="SteezyZ"]Maybe I'm just bitter, but I still think that they won the Make Somthing Unreal contest with a lot of PR and marketing instead of a fun and functional game. Alien Swarm should have taken the prize by a long shot...at least Valve saw their potential. I can appreciate the amount of (loving) detail the team is putting into RO2, but IMO the team is more into putting random realistic features rather than making a fun game, as usual.lordreaven
You entered the contest didn't you?

Nope, but I played a better part of the entries. After the era of Half-Life 1 mods, the Make Something Unreal contest was a golden time for modding. But the RO team definitely talked-up their game more than people actually played it, and while it was a top-tier entry, it was hardly the most original, stable, or fun.

Definitely Quake 3 for 2 simple reasons: 1. You need pinpoint aim, or a killer instinct. Weapons like the railgun are devastating when in skilled hands, and the rocket launcher is only really useful against good players when you're mid/close range since it's easy to dodge. 2. You need to be able to aim while bunny hopping and strafejumping. No, strafe jumping is NOT bunny-hoping, but is a interesting side effect of the Quake 3 engine when you jump+strafe+look in the direction of your strafe. If you don't know what strafejumping is, well, you're just not in the know. For those of you who prefer team-based games, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a good balance of Quake 3 engine fun that requires skill.

Microsoft already has plans for Kinect+controller/peripheral games, so there is a (slight) glimmer of hope that Kinect will involve more than just browsing menus or flailing your arms at colored balls. I can imagine playing a FPS with my plain-Jane controller with some additional Kinect-interface stuff, such as the voice recognition (imagine telling your AI squadmates to attack instead of Left-button -> sort through menu -> green button). Apparently they've been reluctant to bring it up to try to emphasize their camera tech and to differentiate themselves from the Wii and Move. Unfortunately, all that's done is bring the wrath of "hardcore" gamers.

I've always wanted to do this. 9.5 ktnx by Edit: Since I'm not a complete troll, I should clarify. Exaggeration and not adding "IMHO" is just asinine. Besides, whining about things they promised years before launch is just weak.

You're right, now that you mention it I remember Harbour having it, and overlooking the vista early in the first level. I still stand by my comment that it really didn't add *that* much to the game, just more visual flair (I enjoyed Crysis for being Far Cry on crack).

Still disappointed that there is no day/night cycle.AAllxxjjnn
Why? It's just one of those "bloom-effect" gimmicks. I know they touted it for Crysis, but for the life of my I can't remember there being a level where it actually occured (though the time of day did change level-to level).
