I disagree that it's had bad marketing. Honestly, it was the first PS3 game that I saw a ton of marketing for, from commercials on TV, website backsplashes, and every second bus stop where I live (I can't say the same for LBP or MGS4, or even some 360 exclusives like GeoW2 for metro/bus stops). I also disagree that it's been selling badly. Maybe not Halo 3 numbers, but how many games sell like that? Not many.

I'm surprised no console fanboy has thrown out UT3 on the PS3 as being completely mod-able. e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCDEm4SlwkE (2D mod) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0_vFHVT8DE (Lego map) The fact is, you still need a PC and some talent to put these together, but the precedent has already been set on consoles. For some reason, console gamers don't see the potential :-/

Only if it comes with Resistance 2 and BC.AltAcct
This. Bundles are more important than people think. Seriously, I paid $300 for my 60G 360 Pro...and it came bundled with GeoW1 and a year's Gold sub (which was supposed to be another game, but it was out of stock so I bargained for the Gold card). Just the bundled items were worth over $100, and I was actually playing a quality game for the entry fee. At the time, the PS3 was $400 with...nothing. North America needs bundle love.

Ugh, what exactly is this measure of "power" that people throw around anyways? I know there are actual measures of performance, from FLOPS, to fill-rates, to cache hits/misses, but ask me to measure the "power" of my system and I will give you a number in Watts. The way "power" is being used here is a purposely vague term from PR people.

[QUOTE="SteezyZ"] Ding-ding-ding, we have a winner. It's "put up or shut up" time for the PO guys..and it had better be one heck of a game the graphics for me to care anymore.cobrax75

Since when did an ENGINE need a GAME to be respected? Project Offset is an engine. The name of the game is not Project Offset. So, since you mentioned the name of the engine and not the game, you're referring to the engine whether you know it or not.

uh...the name of the game is Project Offset...

you have no idea what your talking about.

Exactly, the game and engine are called Project Offset. And even if it was just an engine...this is a games forum, no? If this is just tech benchmarks, then it's just another Futuremark type project, and there's another forum for that kind of stuff. But it is indeed intended for a game called Project Offset (unless of course they eventually change the name to something more...gamey).

[QUOTE="QuirkyUsername"]It's the extreme realism of Killzone 2 that draws people in, it just destroys CoD4 (which was as close to a combat simulator as you can get). It's probably the most realistic FPS ever.

The fact is, "realistic" FPSs tend to be more niche because, well, the larger audience prefers action. And to say CoD is "as close to a combat simulator as you can get" just means you haven't played many FPSs. CoD does well at capturing the atmosphere of a battlefield, but hardly tries to do realistic gunplay. I don't think that KZ2 will just "die", though. It has the benefits of (a) being released well ahead of MW2 and (b) doesn't "feel" like CoD, which some people may prefer.

I agree that it's a good decision, after all, the modern setting of CoD4 was a break from the past, and having a game like CoD: WaW just made it even more apparent that they needed to branch off.. Besides, the CoD4: MW2 acronym would just...suck.

This is going to really blow your mind, alter your entire perception of reality. Get this: the reason why hermits and consolites can't seem to co-exist peacefully is simple...

Control scheme.

I haven't gamed heavily on the PC since the days of Full Throttle, Duke Nukem, and Ages of The Empires II. Since then, I've become not only acquainted, but TRAINED to play with a gamepad. So even though I just upgraded my PC, started playing games like CounterStrike, Left4Dead and FEAR 2 with KB/M...I did not get engaged. Retraining myself on the KB/M was just...too annoying. Too many buttons...I felt like I was going to accidentally hit the wrong key and that my mouse was too scattershot. So I did what the logical person would do. I went out and got a gamepad (the good news is it also works for my PS3). BUTTTTTT...I then had to reconfigure the buttons and some of the buttons that I wanted to use due to feeling intuitive just did not work. Sure you can get profiles for games but its just one more extra thing.

Now I'm not that narrowminded to think PC gamers have the same difficulty when trying to get into console games. So they often feign interest in a Wii due to the somewhat similar mouselike control scheme. I've been in forums where a PC gamer buys a PS3 to play KZ2 and complains about the gamepad and the sticks and how it turns them off.

The point is this...all the platforms have good games (except for the Wii), and its not a matter of quality titles or free online this or free achievements that...its a matter of control preference.

The sooner we gamers can realize this the sooner we can work towards a better understanding of the "other" gamer.

Hmmm, I'm the complete opposite. I've been playing PC games since Doom, which got me into PC gaming from a NES background. I've played many FPSs over the years, and when my wife got me a 360, my experience with the controller was pure frustration. I've gotten the hang of it now, but I still feel like a cripple from time to time ("man, with my KB/M I wouldn't even have to think to make that shot"). I enjoy both my PC and console now, so maybe getting along starts from the inside?

+1 on coexistance for a long time. But DD is here to stay. I'm drawing a blank as to the last time I bought a physical music CD...
