So where does the US stand on this issue? Last I heard, the NRA was bull-whipping Congress to tax violent video games! Protections from MS spyware, nah, they have to try to repel Obamacare 50 or so more times before even considering such a trivial matter.
What about the creepy big brother aspect of the Kinect 2? Isn't any journalist going to grill MS on the issue? MS can spy on who, where and what people are doing in your house. The device must connect to the internet or it won't work. The device (from what they said so far) can connect and relay data at anytime outside the users control. MS Windows hasn't exactly been known for its stellar protections of online data, so you really think someone can't hack into the network to spy on people? Then again, MS will try to tell you otherwise, would you really believe them?
The Xbox 360 - 250GB sells for $300 and the Kinect goes for $150. You can pick both up during the holidays for $300. MS is selling both units combined in the X1. The X1 is a clear upgrade (technology wise) over the 360, therefore I see no entry point below $400 for MS. Sony should easily offer the PS4 below the PS3 entry point, which I suspect will be around $350 to $450. Sony doesn't have the Kinect expense to pass onto the customer.
The majority of games I play are single player. I've played some MMOs. I just don't understand all this periphery focus on the new gaming consoles. Why do I want my device connected to the cloud? Why should I care about social media? I'm happy and content with my own HDD. I'd rather be playing games than looking at some losers facebook page with COD achievements/videos who's currently ordering a pizza from Pizza Hut.
